I saw orange orbs over Tokoroa around Easter time 2010. They were deep orange around the outside with a lesser orange in the middle. They moved very slowly, about the same speed as a light plane. About 2to3 thousand feet up. Very large, about a quarter the size of a small full moon. They dimmed down to a small point of light and then flared up to original size again. Definitely not a chinese lantern. Another man I know saw them two nights before. My description is on the ufocusnz website.
ok.. if that is a sky lantern, it wud not disappear in such a sudden fashion.. unless it went into the clouds.. so i really wud lyk 2 kno if it was cloudy that night. Cos otherwise it definitely is not a lantern.
Also did anybody notice the tiny flashing dots around the object bet 1:20 and 1:40?? There seem 2 be a lot of those... anybody care 2 explain?
it is a chinese lantern we used to see these every day, flying over st helens at first we thought like u, but then we found out what they are, and on new years night the sky was filled with these things, this is just a chinese.
@maltonge Hi Thank you. Please tell me what you say a chinese lantern is constructed of as a number of people say thats what they think and I understand that the colour of he UFO maybe similar..... but how high do chinese lanterns 'fly', can they change direction, do they shine like stars? and what is their power source? We look forward to hearing rom you.
@PipOxlade Hi, I believe this very much looks like a chinese lantern, It is contructed on thin paper (not sure on technical name). As for the colour, you can get Chinese lanterns in any colour really, a lot come in 10-packs, with 5 different colours. They fly like a hot air balloon, they can reach VERY high and travel VERY far. They can also change direction suddenly due to air flows very high, even when 2 let off together, they can seperate as this happened with mine..(no characters remaining)
I let 3 go and 1 took off in a separate direction, @ speed They can also look like stars, they have a flame which can (or not) be quite large at times causing a "flicker", due to the paper being thin/see through, the whole lantern will glow like in your video. Here is a link so you can see exaclty what im talking about, in the photo where they are very high, at 1 point they formed a pretty perfect triangle, a lot of people would have thought UFO, img200.imageshack.us/g/3lights.jpg (copy/paste)
Big NEWS:: this is what we received by email yesterday about the Star.......You may already have been contacted by the London group via your YouTube webpage? But in case you haven't, just to confirm that a photo and description is to be published in the Jan/Feb issue of Share International magazine. ...so this confirms that what you witnessed and videoed was indeed one of the 'stars' heralding Maitreya's emergence.
Thank you so much for your comments and we hope that those interested in coming to Hamilton gardens will, it would be great to meet up and share this experience together. So many people have viewed the little footage we actually captured but at least it was recorded. It was the first time I actually found the video button on my camera- so a miracle it happened at all!
I am unsure what you mean by a chinese lantern, but this was an orb of light energy flying slowly through the sky a 1000 to 2000 feet up- hard to judge, it then turned in another direction. It was a wonderful star seen hovering above.
Hi there, I saw the same thing at half past 12 in the morning on the 1st of January 2011, In cambridge, from Taylor st heading towards Maungakawa. I had never seen anything like it before! Several friends to witness aswell! I couldn't just let it go and so I came across your video! This is exactly what I saw!!!
Myself and three others saw this exact light in Papamoa New years eve..it seemed a bit bigger than in your video but definatey the same colour..moving east out over the ocean before just disspearing..it was incredible..definately no satellite!
Hi it was bigger than captured on the video. Try taking a photo of the moon- it is deceptively smaller than seen by the eye. I liken it to approx the size like a car backlight seen 50 meters away. Bright, very bright
Weare am pretty certain it isn't a satellite. John has used the website Heavens Above to look for satellites before now and we've even seen the International Space Station - they are all pin-pricks of light. This was much larger and didn't move in the same direction as most satellites we've seen. We don't know what it IS, but we're pretty certain it ISN'T an aircraft or satellite.
@PipOxlade Our family in Morrinsville saw 2 of them that same night at about 10:30. They made no sound, and they made a right angle turn in the air. Bright as street lamps. Also they were about 900 feet up. They were seen all over the country.
@cswtds ok then what satellite slows down then speeds up and gives off a bright red light and changes direction at a 90 degree angle.its not man made....
Hi Pip & John - I saw exactly the same thing on Xmas Eve driving home from Whatawhata to my place in Rot-O-Rangi Road. I saw this from my car with my 5 yr old son, i stopped the car and got out as really didn't know what we were seeing. I definitely could not hear any 'noise' ie aircraft sounds and was very puzzled as to what it could be. I am so happy someone else has seen the same, great video and pics. Karyn.
I witnessed a similar bright light over Kawhia harbour, towards Te Maika approx 10 years ago at about midnight while fishing...It hovered about 6 metres off the sea for about a minute, then without a sound, it shot off at great speed, then completely disappeared...After some chuckles and weird looks, I shut my mouth....but I'm convinced its not of this world...
hi, about a week ago (from the 26th) i heard there was going to be a lunar eclipse or something. not saying this was but jus something to look up on. this could explain why their was no sound and was seen in different parts of the country.
Pip...I attempted to ring you for a chat minutes after I saw the newspaper photo on my mums dining room table (Dec, 29th)....(I thought.. 'Holy Heck!...This is exactly what perplexed me!!") But no listing for your number in the book or directory...Email me if you wish....pounamucircle@xtra.co.nz David.
Hi Pip.Im from Te Aroha. I was in Wales, UK in August, 2010... and whilst in a small viilage just aftyer twilight...glanced up to see 3 objects in formation EXACTLY as your image shows. I am a open minded but also very logical...and what I saw failed to convince me that it was anything that I understood. As 2 of the objects moved into low misty sky...the other remained long enough for me to take one clear photo.I would love to share it with you. Pklease email me. pounamucircle@xtra.co.nz. David
I saw this same thing above Bruntwood road about 10 years ago. Me and dad stopped on the side of the road with some others and watched it travel in an 'S' shape then it sped up and disappeared....
One possibility is a satellite. I recently saw the International Space Station look almost exactly like this, and it's most likely to happen in the evening on a clear night. The Sun has already set but will still light up the satellite with that eerie orange/red glow. I don't think your sighting would have been the ISS because it came from the wrong direction but a satellite would be my best guess.
We have seen the ISS and it was a pin-prick of light in the sky. This red glow was huge by comparison. This either means it was way, way larger than the ISS - who put it up there? Or it was way, way lower in the sjky - which is rather worrying.
Wow I saw it aswell on boxing day night aswell on Clarkin road Hamilton I also red it in the Waikato Times it looked like a flying fire just wow!!!!! :)
Awesome Pip & John. I can not say for sure what it was. But a couple of weeks ago in the Gordonton area where we are we saw "unusual" lightning type flashes and other phenomena around street lamps etc while we were driving. We did not have our camera with us at the time. We went into channelled communication when we got home and the energy from The Council was extremely powerful this night.
wow- check out ufocusnz.org.nz fab evidence- amazing!
