  • 1:38 is bestof the best 1 the best martial art movie their is

  • dont know how to explain forms in wtf has so much similarity as shotokan karate kata

  • its just korean dance and bad copy of karate!

  • better yet the question is what isn't tae kwon do?

  • better yet the question is "what isn't tae kwon do?"

  • That is a really cool video Kinda touches on the centre of things

  • fake

  • this was pretty good

  • 2000 years old? No... It was developed in in 1940's...

  • I like this video because it is good to remind students, TaeKwonDo is not just about defense, but about wisedom.. I love TaeKwonDo and my Master is an Excellent teacher. We work just as hard on the hands as we do for the foot.. many school, dont even bother with the hands. I have balance of defense because my Teacher is well rounded.

  • The most commercial watered down martial art ever !!!!!. Practiced and brought to the united states of them all. I make you black belt for $100.00 DOLLAH,

  • taekwondo came from karate so its a bad copy of karate.

  • this makes me feel cool as I am a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and I learned some stuff about it

  • this makes me feel cool as I am a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and I learned some stuff about it

  • this makes me feel cool as I am a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and I learned some stuff about it

  • Today, most care nothing of "Do". The foot the fist the blood is what many want to see. Sad. Your video shows true respect for the balance which is the art of the foot and fist.

  • Very nice

  • ah I see, you were making the same generalization others do by referring more to

  • ah I see, you were making the same generalization others do by referring more to the history of recorded combat systems and

  • General Choi spelled it "Taekwon-Do"(ITF style), the purpose was to separate and emphasize the "Do" (The Way), which was meant to put an emphasis on the martial art as a way of life. training martial arts through your everyday life, and training the spirit and charachter through the training. with an end in mind of developing a better society.

  • At 2:11 Taekwondo is backwards.

    It's:

  • My TaeKwondo is Backwards, I am so doing this wrong.

  • DoKwon-Tae.The Sister of NoCan-Do!

  • @1977rune I guess i suck at this then. I am glad I just made these video's and quit this.

  • i was doing wtf, and trainer wasnt saing anything about TaeWondo only with K

  • I'm a TKD practioner as well but the 'art' can only be considered "2000 years old" if you are referring to the fighting and meditating styles it originates from in India through China to Japan and Okinawa. As a system of it's own it only dates back to the end of ww2 and was adapted from Shotokan Karate.

  • As origin philosophy ...

We can have a pride in physical and mind.

    It is the modern meanning.

TKD is not fighting skill but philosophic sports like Yoga in modern times.

  • I see thanks for sharing friend.

  • lol tkd guys are confident until they meet a wrestler hahaha...

  • that is very true.

  • well I would agree, when i went from TKD to Karate and MMA I never really did any grappling or takedowns.

  • but its very difficult to take down a man who has been mastering strikes and defense after many years of training

  • Nope xDDD

  • TKD is very old it was originally taught to korean nobility called the Hwarang-do. it was taught to fight/unify the kingdoms in korea at the current time by sillia the smaller of the 3 it became a popular sport called Taekkyon but when the japanese took over korea in 1909-1945 it was banned after the war the masters who practiced under secrecy had deffernt forms and styles but unified it and called it currently Tae Kwon Do and so it goes on into crapy sparing today in the olympics

  • The sparring is good dude !!!!!

  • co to kórwa miało być

  • Taekwondo means "The way of the fist and foot". Way could also be changed for Style.

  • WRONG. Tae means hand, Kwon means foot.

you're messing it up with the chinese word "quan" wich means fist or style

  • taekwondo is a GREAT sport!!

    i practise tkd too.

but it is'nt 2000 years old!!!

cause this video says that tkd is 2000 years old ill give only one star - poor

  • Aren't there ancient forms of the Korean martial arts TKD is derived from.

  • finally all martial arts have the same ancient roots^^ but many TKDs say that TKD is the OLDEST martial art - and thats absolutely wrong. TKD was founded in 1955, not many thousand years ago.. also TKD doesnt base on taekyon (an ancient korean-martial art).. i dont understand why many people cannot accept that TKD is a modern martial art..

  • OK it is Modern then!

  • ^.^

  • I know this will ruffle some feathers, but I've done quite a bit of historical research on this and this is my current theory on the real origin of TKD.

TKD is the Korean version of Japanese Karate, developed after the occupation of Korea by the Japanese. At no fault of Korea, Koreans were banned from most traditional Korean sports and many other cultural events. When you look at the characteristics of TKD, those being the uniform (gi), the forms, many of which are exactly replicated in Karate

  • exactly - Shotokan Karate to be exact which is quite evident in non WTF branches which maintains some of TKD's earlier roots which places more emphasis on blocks and punching.

  • and many of the techniques, you can see its origin is directly from Karate. That said, many argue, quite reasonably, that TKD is merely the result of trying to fit Korean martial arts (that being Takkyon and others) into the sporting rules of Karate, which would have required them take on some techniques, abandon others, perform the same forms and wear similar uniforms.

In this sense, TKD is Karate with a significant influence from traditional Korean arts.

  • noob? where u got that history? lol

  • TKD, therefore, as a unique art, has existed for about 70 years. Although it draws from the ancient lineages of Okinawan Karate (Japanese Karate isn't particularly old either) and from its own Takkyon and a few other traditional styles, it, as a composite of these styles, is fairly recent. This is by no means a bad thing.

  • Ancient korean hwarang-do and taekyon predates okinawa kara-te by nmany centuries Modern taekwon do is korean foot fighting blended with old chinese fist methods.

  • Here's just a few sources to back up what elenchus is saying: "modern taekwondo the official training manual" by Soon Man Lee & Gaetane Ricke, NOTE: it states TKD can be traced 2000 years but that is merely the history of armed and unarmed combat in Korea to jump to the conclusion that this was "TKD" is a grave misunderstanding. The only date we can say definitive as to when TKD as we know it was established is 1946 (p. 19). "The Complete Book of TKD Forms" by Keith D. Yates confirms this and

  • adds that earlier dates of formal combat systems in Korea originate from Buddhist monks from India in 525 AD to the Shaolin Temple in China.

So in summary: Can formal Martial Arts or combat styles be traced 2000 years? - yes. Does that mean Taekwondo is 2000+ years old? No. It can reliably be traced to 1946 to several people who wanted to create a formal system for a people who were rebuilding their culture. Japan underwent the same thing after the Samurai which is why Karate can be traced then

  • Exactly. TKD itself is fairly recent, although the Korean influences on TKD are quite old. I suspect its extremely high level of similarity to Karate is the result of fighting under Karate rules, which may have required the demonstration of Karate forms and wearing the Japanese Gi.

Takkyon is the (maybe just one among others) ancient style of Korea, not TKD. That said, I love TKD and practice ITF four days a week.

  • Modern TDK is maded from acient Korean mashal art!

  • Correct, and the ancient korean art is older than okinawan karate!

  • i learn tkd i learn ITF taekwondo i know th oath it is like yoi yum chi enie kookie batch catch boolgrool

  • i gotta learn all these moves!!!!

  • It was originally a battlefield art...

  • It is spelt Taekwon-Do, not Taekwondo.

The original naming committee created the word Taekwon-Do for Gen. Choi's martial art on 11th April 1955.

Also pronounced 'Tay' rather than 'Tie'

  • - Tae Kwon Do = 3 words

  • it depends on the dojang style. WTF spells it taewondo; ITF "taekwon-do"; others 3 words. In English it matters not anyway.

  • also pronounced 'tay' only on english...it's more like TEkwon-do. and yes. it is taekwon - do...in ITF system....in wtf it's taekwondo...al together..if you can spell it any way you can spell karate any way -> kara-te, ka-rate, ka-ra-te, ka rate, kara te.....it is only karate, and only one and original taekwon-do - if a man said a name of it it is it's name..

  • why say ka-rate? that would be a bit weird. It's like saying Taekw-ondo. Kara is one word, Te is the other. Karate, Kara-te and kara te would be grammatically correct.

  • I wonder why does it matter? The word is Korean and primarily written in "hanguel". As it is, there has been constant revision of the romanization of Korean. For example, the city known as 부산 used to be written as Pusan. Now it's Busan. I prefer the latter spelling, but does changing the B to a P change the meaning itself?

  • there's no difference between Taekwondo and Taekwon-Do...

In korean spelling it's rather Tae Kwon Do then, since every word had just as much stress. Why put a big character at "way"?

  • What a fantastic work and effort you've put into this, it is very obvious that you know what you are talking about.

When I first started with TKD in 1983 (26 years ago), I remember, being a kid, it could seem boring and tedious, but after a while I started to realize that all those hours of stretching, meditating, breathing exercises, and classes in respect would serve me for life.

I was unfortunately hindered in my childhood to pursue much training in TKD, but I honor every minute I did train

  • Yes, Taekwondo is great for enhancing all aspects of life. Thanks for watching friend.

  • 2.000 years noway brow. taekwondo became taekwondo sisnce 1955 by gen choi hong hi. and before it theres the 8 kwans .

  • Wasn't it 5 kwans?

  • thevombaur ofcourse is 14 years old not too late to start TKD. i started when i became 24. commitement is more important. how much do you want to study tKD is the question. for me i've been training for half a year now and end of the month i'm already going for my green belt. that's fast but my dedication to the sport is high so i train a lot also at home.

  • is 14 to old to start learning tkd?

  • Somewhat, but better late than never.

  • It's too old when u want to go to the olympics, other than that no, Tkd is for young and for old. (I'm not saying ur old :P)

  • my opinion. badeal founder of kyokushin karate dint allowed matches when he died karate matches begun he thought matches are virus against martial arts i believe so you are too old to make matches and take chamionships but very young to learn that beautiful martial art called tkd

  • is black bamboo katana a good sword

  • I never used one but I bet it would be flexable yet strong.

  • ok thanks

  • Why do they emphasis on kicks?

Can a tae kwon do practioner really defend himself?

I beleive in their powerful kicks but if a tae kwon do practitioner wanted to restraint an attacker does he kick and punch him, or would it be better to use some means of a martial art restraint hold? this is the reason why a huge number of people beleive that Tae kwon do is just for show purpose and not street or real world effective. It is really what you make of it ...I suppose.

  • yeah TaeKwonDo is not that helpful for real self defense.

  • it can be very helpful actually

if you know how and when to use it

but its not the most effective martial art

if tkd blackbelt vs muay thai blackbelt

muay thai wins coz its all about countering and blocking

  • yeah I think every martial art has its place and you would have to know when to use the techniques.

  • I practice taekwondo itf, not wtf, and yes i was able to defend myself well when i got attack. Itf taught me when to use my hand and kick during a fight and not to attack first and move in circle when the attacker attack. Now I go by what bruce lee said when he said to adapt to each style and to be like water. So I going to learn bjj and MT next but be like water and learn to adapt to each style i might face

  • That is great, very good training my friend. I am very proud that TKD has benefited you such.

  • it is when u r truly understand and good at it

u haven;t seen actual people whor good at taekwondo

    watch k-tigers

search shin min choel on youtube and watch

  • its not true... I have been doing TKD WTF for 8 years and I am still doing it...and it helped me many times...

it depends on person ....on his mind...if he is able to use what he has learnt then it really is effective

  • I disagree. Tae Kwon Do is helpful for real self defense for two reasons. 1. It teaches self-discipline. That means you probably won't be stupid enough to start a fight. 2. I can kick really hard. Now, granted, for TKD users, it would be really tempting to try and use their extreme knowledge of fighting to destroy this person, then get destroyed, but if they're smart, then they'll use one good kick to the solar plexus, then run away. That's real self-defense. After all, I didn't get hurt...

  • totally agree with you...

  • ure not wrong i agree with u tkd is not affective in real sometimes u wear jeans, but how u going to use kicks? u can but harder =/

  • practice kicking in jeans. Train for real-world situations. And don't be restricted by your style. I've trained so I can kick you in the head while wearing jeans.

  • it really IS effective.... Full-contact is full-contact...once you can do all the kicks and punches perfectly and with your whole power and being fast ...you are able to use it everywhere and everytime...believe me ..I know what am I talking about

  • yes that is very true, I love TKD and is is my style, you need to know how to use it effectively to have it be effective. A sword is a weapon unless you dont' know how to use it right?

  • The emphasis on kicks is for three reasons. One, your legs are longer than your hands, so you can strike from farther away. Two, your legs can generate a lot more power than your hands, so a kick will do more damage, but a punch has greater speed and better aim. So, it's a bit of a trade-off either way. Three, it takes more training to be able to kick effectively than it does to punch effectively. I could probably teach you to punch in about a few days. It could be a year before you kick well.

  • as someone who has used empty hand and weapon hand combat in the military and civilian life my answer is your question is flawed. You see a good TKD school will teach you all moves with applications and incorporate hosinsool - self defense techniques which can be hapkido, aikido, chin-na or jujutsu throws, locks, and sweeps. If you are NOT being taught the applications of the TKD moves including in the forms and self-defense emphasis then you are in a SPORT club not a martial art class.

  • can u tell me what are all the belt levels?

and also id need to know what belt level could i achieve with self-training 2 years.

please lemme know as fast as you can.

    thank you.

  • Well the best way would be for you to film your self and I can evaluate your skill level and such. And we can talk some more. Other than that you can be anywhere.

  • belts from official wtf(world taekwondo federation) are white-white with yellow stripe-yellow-yellow with green stripe-green-green with blue stripe-blue-blue with red stripe-red-red with black stripe-black....also you give exams every 6 months and you must w8 four more months to give exams for blue belt and 1 year for exams to take black... at least thats the true way.. but most schools doeasnt follow this way.......

  • TKD does has that philosophy just like every other traditional martial art out there. They may not exactly be of the same definition but all martial arts connect through some sort of moral value... and let us not forget that philosophy that is taught will always be a different conception.

"What is the color of the yellow to one may be the lighter shade of another" - Anon.

    Anyways, informative video.

  • Thanks for watching.

  • I thought it is spelled taekkyeon not TAE KYON

  • my first class begins on monday, and ima 17 years old >__>

  • I wish you the best with your training, this is a fantastic art. Let me know if you have any questions.

  • i plan to go 4 times a week, 1 hour each :)

  • nice. I hope you can stick with it bro.

  • lol, I was 20 when I started ;)

  • my personal opinion is that it all depends ,whether a person is a sportsman or a fighter :) personally i prefer taekwondo to any other fighting style ,because of its beauty ,speed ,strength and explosive power :) karate has nothing on tkd ,due to the lack of technique .... and for the further notice , new electronic gear allows you to punch in order to gain points :) and if somebody tries to say that in streets it's worthless .........well it's not , pwnd about 15 dudes who tried to mug me xD

  • I see, thanks for watching and posting friend.

  • Tae kwon do is very effective at times if you can land a simple front kick it can seriously injure someone but i wouldnt bet money on tkd vs juijitsu or bjj i like tae kwon do their moral philosophy is very impresive

  • I agree.

  • I do taekwondo, but it isnt as powerful as karate, but it is alot faster and has better accuracy. You speak here as if taekwondo is something different. And TKD is only about 60-70 years old. Do your studies before you begin to post these things. Otherwise pretty good video.

  • Well, when I say it is older. Because in essence the techniques have older meanings. Look back in time, to generations before, where they using the same or similar techniques to survive the perils of the day.

But yes modern TKD, is about 60-70 years old.

    Thanks for watching.

  • ah I see, you were making the same generalization others do by referring more to the history of recorded combat systems and not necessarily TKD as we know it in a packaged system today.

  • dam i want to learn tae kwon do art not tae kwon do sport! i want to learn to drive my thimbs in a persons eye, sweep the legs, and spar like they did a long time ago *sigh*

  • yes, maybe you should research the older forms of TKD like TaeKwon or TangSooDo. There were many predecessors that lead to the formation of what TKD is today.

  • actually TangSooDo and TKD are completely different for one thing TangSooDo forms look like shotokan forms. And the TSD federations pretty much practice the same forms, where as in TKD you have four major bodies the W.T.F., I.T.F., G.T.F and A.T.A. who's forms look nothing like japanese forms.

  • Then by all means do it! Do it now!

  • i practise the ART form, u should try it, ud love it :)

  • You can still find that but they are likely to be smaller clubs which are incorporating hapkido or a complete service martial art school which ensures you get the complete package. Look into Moo Duk Kwon or modern Hwarangdo. When I was a kid my small club did full contact kicking and punching, applications of the moves in forms, self defense, and black belt was 3-5 years not 1 year.

  • No black belt in one year... I needed 4.

  • i train taekwondo,(WTF) and we don't train the spirit or the mind, that is just in korea/asia, or??

  • I think it all depends on your instructor and their own goals. If you school is sport TKD then why bother refining the mental arts and meditation.

  • Sir, in my country ya, we have ITF and WTF, the masters teaches us that our stances and patterns should be done properly, but what i am wondering is that how do i know whether it is a sports taekwondo or not? and yeah to upgrade belts is quite easy based on most peoples voice. Thanks in advance sir

  • Hello,

Well do you have sparring matches in class. Do you wear sparring gear or enter in tournaments. I think almost all TKD is sport based. There is very little focus on self defense.

Look TKD is even in the Olympics.

  • now that youve mention it, you are 100% correct, this is sports taekwondo. I mean if like i want to learn it/ practise it mentally then i think its ok rite? the more focus we are mentally, the better our moves and body positionings are.... am i correct Sir mike?

  • Yes mental skills will always help you with your physical skills.

    I agree with you .

  • this is for Castj305. I bet you took karate in a crappy dojo thats why u r saying tkd is better than karate, why dont you do your homework first. I was a practitioner of tkd and guess what i have changed to kyokushin karate. try kyokushin karate, and then speak up if you really think karate is no better.

  • Maybe you took TKD at real crappy DOJANG and that's why you are saying karate is better than TKD.

  • tKd is really different from karate i use be i karate it ok but tkd is best it has more power in it

  • its not TAI kwan Do stupid! it is Tae Kwon Do!

  • why does everyone judge martial arts.

every type of martial arts there is.

tae kwon do, Gung fu, boxing.

there all equal! I think us today have

    misunderstood martial arts.

    do not JUDGE! martial arts

  • In response to JakeHustle2, I am just talking with a boxer's experience not a martial artist, but I think its not a type of martial art that is better but an individual that makes a diffrence. If you take the BEST of Jeet Kune Do (not Bruce Lee, he is too good) against a GOOD Tae Kwon Do artist but the JKD fighter can't take a punch or kick. Of course the TKD will come out looking as the superior one but it wasn't the art, it was the artist that made the diffrence.

  • what happen in here video..

why NO closed captioned on this video

  • I didn't add that should I have. Sorry about that.

  • Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do is way superior martial art than taekwondo!

  • Bruce Lee's legendary kicks originated from taekwondo roots

he took lessons from tkd first

  • 2000!!??

    taekwondo develop on 1950's...

Taekyon are the on more than 2000years..

Yin Yang are from Chinese, not Korea or Japan.

Yin Yang are also called Ba Gua which mean

    eight side of haptagon..

  • I just like to kick people ass with Tae Kwon Do

  • because Japan is an island.

  • wtf???

    itf el original!!

  • TKD 2k years?! TKD was born in the 50's

  • TKD had been around for 2k years... come on wikipedia this stuff.................... "TKD sport" was born in the 50's. "Martial Art TKD" been around before that

  • No. The name TKD was suggested by Gen. Choi Hong-hi in April 11 of 1955 with the 9 kwans the founders of TKD. In those schools they teached mainly Shotokan Karate do (Tang Soo do/Kong Soo do in korean). With the unification of the kwans KTA was born, then the ITF (martial TKD) was founded in 1966 by General Choi Hong hi. WTF (sport TKD) was born in 1972. The "2k years old" propaganda was invented by the WTF.

  • I see what you mean. I guess I have learned too much propaganda.

  • umm no. TKD was practiced in Korea and popularized in the Koguryeo Dynasty.

  • cool

  • I love TKD but it is not as effective as other martial arts, i believe it is more of a spiritual and sport Art

other martial arts are more suited to agressive fighting, this is called a combat art, jujitsu and muay thai are more suited for that.

  • nice!keep it up friend...

  • tae kwon do is a great martial arts if you want to learn tae kwon do go to mackenzies gold medal family karate scchool its the best school in sj 7 years in a row they also teach ju jistu and hapkido!

  • Awesome vid! I noticed your narrative is taken straight from the Official Taekwondo Training Manual. I myself have decided to study Taekwondo. I have been watching my son do Taekwondo for four years now and have grown to really appreciate the hard work, determination and spirit that goes into practicing this amazing martial art. It is unfortunate that his school does not teach Taekwondo theories. They focus more on the physical practice. Thank you for providing a different approach :)

  • I admire the hard work and amount of studying that was put into this video, the author really researched his stuff. Thank you for this enlightening video, I'd like to show this to the Dojon I study at.

However, the narration needs a little work; it's very monotone and I caught several, "Uhs..." during the presentation. Take your time and rehearse the material before presenting.

  • Yes, I will be making another one in the future called Origins of TKD. I learned more about this dynamic martial art since making this. And hopefully my voice will not be so monotone but adaptive and cool.

    No more Uhs...

Peace be with you always friend.

  • no martial arts teacher would say if you learn this you can defend your self against any one or that you will have the confidence to defend yourself. as a martial artist i have seen black belts defeated by white belts fighting is something that comes down to your mental ability to fight and the physical ability to be able to pull off such actions

  • I do think that martial arts can build up confidence. And I have heard that some people believe that confidence is bad because in a real life dire threat situation one where it is kill or be killed that confidence can get people killed. So, I must believe that we develop a level of confidence and awareness to stop trouble before it escalates, or at least that is the goal.

Black belts defeated by white belts, I have seen that too.

    Thanks for watching friend.

  • although you know a lot about tkd it would your understanding of other martial arts is limited. i understand this is a video promoting tkd but i think your approach to explaining is a bit off. i think you hype it up way too much you make it seem like its on a whole other level compared to every other martial art. and as for self defense i personally disagree while it can be used as a very effective combat style it doesnt mean every one who learns it will be able to kick any ones ass

  • yes, I did not mean to hype it up too much I just was discussing the aspects of tkd. I personally do not believe Tkd is the a very effective art for self defense but we must realize that all martial arts techniques have their proper place. And I can realize that by training in other self defense aware martial arts futhers my own goals of training.

I don't want to hurt people or kick any ones ass. The greatest warrior wins without fighting.

  • Can I ask, what is your opinion of Chung Do Kwan.

  • First and foremost, I am pro Taekwondo, not pro WTF. I simply study the modern form of TKD.

  • WTF means World Tae Kwon Do federation. which is persumed to be the most modern style of TKD.

  • general choi formed itf. there is another besides wtf and itf. gtf was formed by late grandmaster park jung tae. ift and gtf is similar bt slightly differnt from wtf.

the patterns are different. basically, itf is older then wft.

  • Wow, that is very intersting. Global TKD. Thanks for posting friend. I like the Modern WTF.

  • Tae Kwon Do is not a 2000 year old martial art. The term is only a little over 50 years old. (April 11 1955) The art is complete when all elements of it are taught. These are kibon(basics),hyungs(forms),hosinsool(self defense techniques),daeryun(sparring)&,kyukpa(destruction/breaking). The very self defense techniques people claim it doen't possess are present in the forms. Those elements are only the physical. Beyond these are the mental and spiritual elements which make the art complete.

  • Yes exactly! General Choi formed the ITF governing body. I love the elements and hope to master them some day. Peace be with you friend.

  • General Choi created Tae Kwon Do .. Period.

it was WTF/Korean government that ousted him and sent him into exile.

WTF will never mention General Choi as the true creator of TKD, why?

They need to spread propaganda that TKD was old in order to unite a country/spread lies.

Only thing old aobut Korean martial arts is Tae Kkyon.

  • Spread lies, man that sucks. Yeah when I studied WTF I never knew about General Choi until much later. I think you might be on to something.

  • Comment removed

  • wow I never knew that stuff. I only studied the martial art, not really the history of the country and its leaders. I didn't know tkd was even really that linked to Korean government.

  • crazy, huh?

You should read how the Koga and Iga ninjas were also linked to Japanese government.

    it's crazy.

  • General Choi is the founder of modern day Tae Kwon Do. the WTF did caputure his children and threatend to kill them if he did not return to korea to be tried as a north korean crimial, but this was befor the WTF was formed. after that the WTF was created and General Choi had a vary strond dislike for the WTF.

  • TKD was developed by korean munks and farmers in Korea to protect themselves against robbers and other low-lives hundreds of years ago. Purely for selfdefense. Meditation is was a big part of it.

  • no it wasn't!

    That's TAE KYUN!

    Get your history straight

  • Yes, I agree. TAEKWONDO evolved from TAE KYUN!

TAE KYUN! A Deceptive and Deadly Martial Art

    From Ancient Korea.

  • uhh, not to be a ass but

    Tae means hand, punch

    Kwon means foot or kick

    you got it reversed

  • darn I knew it.
