I saw an aerial photo once of the Mayberry and Gomer Pyle set - all one set. The quonset huts were right next to Wally's filling station, just out of camera range. All of that was only a mile or so from downtown Mayberry. All of that was torn down and built into an office/professional park in 1976-77. Shame - that would be an awesome tourist attraction today. BTW, Mayberry was part of the older set for Gone With the Wind (the Atlanta burning fire scene) and King Kong.
