@JRNL75 I am flattered that you would take the time to learn so perfectly one of the 'arrangements' I have done. As I noted, I listened fairly closely to Andre Previn's version before I played this and copied broadly some of his main ideas so we all learn from one another. Please put a link to your version as a video response above.
reminds me of conversations with myself - it's always great to watch these video's a pick up a few cool licks and ideas to incorporate into my own playing. Much appreciated
Really fantastic Doug. The high quality video and stereo audio is outstanding (as is the playing of course). Using Sonar to set the tempo track to correctly notate the rubato section is a great idea.
From the original recording, I took the midi file of the improvised performance, and I used 'Sonar' to create a tempo track to set the rubato sections correctly into measures. Then imported from Sonar to the program 'Power Tracks' (PG Music), the corrected midi file with the tempo map I had created. In Power Tracks, I split the Right and Left hand, did quite a bit of editing, and this was the result. Not easy and very time consuming! The video was created in Camtasia
Thanks for replying. Can you also tell me, where I can read more about these programs & download them ? Mainly the notation program.
PS! It does sound very time consuming, but worth it, no doubt. Feel free to look at my videos :-) Maybe you can make a performance with that song: "By Your Side" by Sadé :-)
Read more about PowerTracks on the PGMusic website - it is a companion program to Band in a Box, which will also create notation such as this from a midi file, though won't read or create a tempo map as will PowerTracks. Both of these programs are very inexpensive, considering how powerful they are for this sort of thing.
I was taking a chance at your version of "Taking a chance on love"

Please tell me what you think about it!
Thanks!

I have listened to the great Previn performance.
The great Doug McKenzie's interpretation is even better.
Thanks, Doug.

Brilliant. The level of genius we saw in Liszt when he improvised on Chopin.
This has to be my favorite interpretation, alongside the wonderful Benny Green version on youtube.

Great!
I've been looking for a sheetmusic-program for some time now.
What program do you use, to make your sheetmusic ? :-)
