  • DIESEL POWER

  • sound lag?

  • @r6ixxerz agreed.

  • sound lag?

  • look at that baby swallow up Aston Martins

  • I love how it takes the guy a full minute of talking just to tell you that he's going to stop talking.

  • I wish i could drive one of these to work everyday...

  • i like also the old circuit de la sarthe, that's without the 2 chicanes in the fast part

  • Rock petrol rock!

  • If this was nascar they would bring out the little boom box symbol and say, 'its time to crank it up!' =P

  • it sounds better than music...

  • TORQUE!

  • sounds like a lorry

  • I really enjoy watching a race with such a view :)

  • sound of v12 rb20 tdi

  • i think the advanteges of a closed cockpit are better aerodynamics and better chassie stability, the disadwantage is a little bit more weight. i think audi didnt done that because it can be because ist a diesel =)

  • But the 908 is still a diesel too, but still audi is about cornering, peugoet is about top speed.

    Go Audi!

  • i didnt know that tha peugeot is a disel. cool i like petrols more but the disels are obviously better in lemans.

  • audi? cornering? i have never heard these words used together before. i thought audis were for off roading.

  • @soulsaflame4135 lol even off roading, audi owned the competition! and got banned for being too good!

  • i know i was j/k. i like their race cars i just hate awd and how front heavy their road cars are. Beautiful cars tho.

  • im new to le mans racing i live in the US and all we get here is nascar and indy which is ok but this is much better. whats the advatages of a closed cockpit in the 908 and disadvantages? why havent audi done the closed cockpit?

  • lol there r lots of prototypes in america.. they just arent advertised like nascar is... its a shame really

  • how I can watch le mans when cars sounds like broken ford fiesta 1.0

  • keep in mind that top two card in LMP1 class are diesel. and the other thing is that they don't want to over stress the engines since they have to pretty much be able to run for at least 24hours at maximum torture. i'm sure if someone try t drive lancer evo on this track, it would spit the engine out after a few hours :)

  • sounds like a tractor...

  • Being in those Peugeots are like being in a fighter jet. Like instead of a GTP-type race car, almost like you are racing in an FJ Harrier or a Hellcat. Awesome video. At least something like this will tide me over until Le Mans starts up proper.

  • from tv, on board videos from le mans look HELLOFALOT faster than f1.

  • DIESL power its about time . thx for the video that audi TDI Diesl is verry nice .

  • "pull up the volume" he saids....what i heard sound like a truck,it's really unimpressive to heard a petrol car....just remember the bmw V12 at le mans 99',what a sound...

  • image if f1 vs audi r10

    Who going win

  • in sprints i think the f1 will win but at straight line the audi

also for 24 hours the f1 will fail

  • LOL

  • It amazes me how when Frank comes up behind the DBR9 you can hear the Astons engine over the Audis, been lucky enough to see these monstors at the 1000kms of Silverstone LMS race in 08 and when one drove past it hardly made a noise compared to the petrol engine cars.

  • I like seeing the Forza sticker on the inside of the car.

  • yep that was the same when they came to mosport in the alms series. I love Mosport and I love le mans prototypes.

  • I felt my cheeks flap in the wind on the strait! :) Its videos like this that get me though the boring winter! I miss the "Sounds of Speed"!

  • the sound is not synchro with the video..

  • Best LeMans car ever! Audi ROCKS!

  • I'd say Porsche. But Audi is making history as we speak.

  • The raw spirit of racing a car for 24 hours and having to actually "drive" it is all but lost with so much advanced technology in the cars of today. Look what has happened to F1 with traction control, semi auto, launch control. Drivers are much more technically minded now agreed, but the old days of a mechanical gear shifter, heavy clutch, fading brakes and guts are but a memory for some ofd us. maybe thats why we still compete in historics.

  • Girlie cars? How about 260 mph cars? These are incredible machines in every way.

  • The R10 tops out at about 230 I think.

    GRID is unrealistic.

  • no 260 i tested it

  • 230 mph for a audi R10....stop video game man.they never go much than 320-330km(200mph)now in lemans.230mph and + were for the good old group C,without the chicanes in the hunaudière straight line.really the good old days...

  • Yep. Back in the early 70's with the Porsche 917s and the Ferrari 512s, they would top out at 230mph down the Mulsanne straight. But now the cars are different - they do about 195-200mph tops.

  • Actually, in 1970 the 917 ran 248mph. Close enough to your comment, but it topped out at 250mph.

  • It was made because the speed would be to high, and we would see a lot more aerodynamik problems, like the 99' mercedes-benz clr. Thx god they mad the chicanes

  • you're right man... nothing like late 80s days... :(

  • Sounds of Lemans??!?

How sad to see how far things have fallen since the peak years of Porsche 917/Ferrari 512.

    These diesels are girlie cars.

  • Premoderne- Can't fault you, the drivers are more like jocky's(power/weightLOL). Strong little buggers pulling G's just as good or better than the old Can-Am cars or whatever you choose from the good old days. Diesels, & alternative fuels like in the IRL race series need to keep being explored. "The past is for DVDs!!!"

  • there bad ass in every way they produce more power , run longer and smoother. it also a camera going along at 200mph so the sound quality isnt the greatest. but i love watching these audis race, there amazing!

  • The Porsche era was glorious, to be sure. Still, I do enjoy watching whiners such as yourself unable to cope with the changing reality. Have fun with the DVD's, I guess. The rest of us prefer to look forward.

PS. I'm not sure what to make of your "girle cars" comment but I can pretty much guarantee you are incapable of driving one.

  • So...do you look forward to ever more and more constraints and regulations? Solar powered Audis?

Girlie cars in the sense that it takes much less skill and courage to handle some computer controlled, limited horsepower, sewing machine than a real man's car.

  • To be honest, the C class era was my favorite. No I don't like constraints, I dislike the chicanes for example, though I suppose safety should come first. 24 Hours of Le Mans is an endurance race, if you got the better technology and you outlast everyone, you're gonna win, whether spectators like the engine sound or not. I suppose they should still allow older cars to compete, since a lot of people seem unable to let go of them, but it's silly to drive better technology out.

  • The point is that during the Porsche/Ferrari wars, the car builders were unfettered by a feminized racing administration which actually hampers technological development.

  • Alright. I see your point.

  • Premorderne, You are abviously an armchair racer who has never tried driving a real car. if you knew ANYTHING about A/ Motor Racing, B/ Driving skills and c/ the technology that goes into these "girlie cars" as you call them, I am sure you would be surprised. Go back to your Gokart or Playstation. And skole999 sums it up perfectly. . "You are incapable of drving one

  • GO Biodiesels Race car.

  • Gotta love the low end grumble of the diesels

  • I LOVE AUDI R10!!!

  • ok 2008 Le Mans is gonna be in a lil bit than 2 months, what channel(s) can i watch this on since ive heard about this sport about 10 months ago

  • i think they're going to cover this on Eurosport this year.

Last few years, Motors TV have being doing the entire week, from qualifying, drivers parade, practice and the whole race.

  • what about if ur in the US do these channels apply as well?

  • Speed TV would cover it, but only for a few hours.

if you're up for it, theres a link in my profile. sign up to that site and you can download the races.

  • btw Motors TV is europe only i think, not sure if Eurosport would show it in the US though.

  • ohyeah...maybe I should watch the whole vid next time....lol

  • why does it say Audi R10 Peugeot 908, it is an Audi R10 TDI

  • No it's just 'Circuit de la Sarthe'.

The track isn't called by the event held on it you tube.

  • lmao what a dickhead eh?

  • Bad soun.

It's not adapted to the images.

    It's not simultaneum.

  • Yes !! bad :((

  • what track is this

  • Circuit de la Sarthe

  • those audi's are beasts

  • Man that sun glare must shit those drivers up the wall, but christ are they fast. Good job

  • Just 4 forward gears on the R10... The torque must be immense.

  • 830lb ft.

  • Five forward gears I'm pretty sure.

  • 5 forward gears

  • 1100 Nm!

  • stud, u n me are alike, ever drive heavy equipment

  • i got to meet the head mechanic of the audi team at Road America. This car is amazing, and the audi team is cool as hell. diesel power 4 life!

  • Whoa, the sound is way off on the audi onboard.

  • I was wondering that myself. It seems like he is slowing down and then powering through on every corner.

  • Video sound is not synched properly...

  • Nice the advertisment of Xbox 360 and Forza Motorsport 2 on Puegeot 908, haha! Nice video...
