Hey I'm planning on doing the same thing but havent bought one of those Sheratons yet ^^ Is this a Chinese or Korean made one? People told me i really SHOULD get a korean one cz the chinese one is rubbish :P Can anyone clear this out?
I got mine from a friend which bought it on USA, second hand. My Sheraton ll is Korean made, and in my opinion it is very nice instrument. I have also an Ibanez AF87 VLS made in China, and the quality is very good. As usual I have to replaced the pickups of these guitars and also send it to a Luthier for basic fret job and small adjustments. As everything made in large scale, you need to play the instrument and have attention to the details to buy a nice one.
Hi, my Sheraton ll is Korean made and it is much better than the Chinese they are building today. This is not only the handcraft job, but also the woods, specially the rosewood in the fingerboard are crap in today guitars, even in some gibson guitars. Buy a guitar is something ( in my case) very hard, because on these main factories like Epiph you need to find a good one between median and low quality guitars they release. Try to find a good guitar (new or used) and upgrade pickups will help.
Hi, WOW, you sound great ! Just wanted to drop a note that I did the same thing with my Sheraton II (natural finish as well) . Epiphone pups way too muddy. I changed out to Gibson Burstbuckers #2 and #3, no covers, 500k matching pots, gold speed knobs and a bone nut. I run it through a Marshall AVT 2000. No added pedals of any sort and the damn thing SCREAMS !! Better than any ES335 I ever heard.
You play awesome and bring out some BEAUTIFUL tone from that guitar. YEAH BABY !!!!
You should use #1 in the Neck and #2 in the Bridge position. See the details about these pickups in to the Gibson web page (Products - Acessories - Pickups - Burstbucker)
Lovely sound. What rig is that going through? I have just bought a Sheraton 11 and would like to acquire a decent amp before I change the stock pick ups? Cheers
