  • dont matter installing the 4.5 update when you run the game you will get the error that says " FMODEx error 79: " and then there is no sound in the game but the start menu et works fine ..

    vista 32 bit

    intel i5 - 750

asus maximus repuplic of gamers 3

    4 Gb ddr 3

    Ati HD 5770

  • @MADS145584 Well it stopped the crashed, didn't it? :)

  • @ocasioc nope i stil got the error when i lounce the game

  • @MADS145584 There is a thread for this, called "FMODEx Error Code 79". Check in the Tech Support of Sven Co-op forums.

  • I have vista 64bit home premium and I have the same problem, however there is a temporary fix, if you have an nvidia card, then go to nvidia control panel, then manage 3d settings, then program settings, select Half-Life, then set Extention Limit to On and Threaded Optimization to On aswell.

    Hope that helps.

  • It didn't help with version 4.07. I've already found my own solutions by turning those Nvidia options off and binding a key to "cl_stopsound" and pressing it before map change.

I haven't had a crash for months now.

  • uninstall amxmodx? cuz u have it

  • No, because amxmodx dlls are not at fault.

It's no different than a user who has a clean install of Sven Co-op 4.07.

  • Yes. See my posted comments in the URL of the video description.

  • I actually just did, you mean the "-use driver version 181.20 (WHQL signed)-"? I unfortunately have AMD Sempron.

  • I'm not sure if I just made a fool out of myself, but I don't know all that much about hardware.

  • Do you have Nvidia card? Or ATI Radeon card?

  • ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 Series, if that's the thing.

Yeah, I know, my computer is terrible =P

  • It should be fine for HL though. Try using "ATI Omega Drivers" instead of the official ATI Catalyst drivers.

I've never experienced FMOD crashes on my old laptop since I used Omega drivers all the time.

  • Heh, I just installed it, and I'm currently forced to run with a 640X400 res and 16bit ^^

Ah well, I guess I'll just reinstall again.

Thanks for trying to help me though.

  • First uninstall any ATI drivers in Control Panel, and try the Omega drivers again.

  • *Facepalm*

    Sure, lemme try again.

  • Ya, now it works, thanks buddy.

I'll go try if Sven Co-Op still feels like crashing.

(The reason I don't know especially much about hardware in general is because.. well, I'm simply poor, thus I can not purchase expensive things however I want.)

  • No problem. It's not your fault. 4.0 beta's FMOD sound engine is bugged to begin with and it's not finalized yet.

  • Is there a way to prevent this? This single bug has hindered me from enjoying Sven Co-Op for ages. It's so freaking annoying, and happens so often.

  • YES this happens often to my friends who are suseptubile to it
