Everything else your D.I.s and PMI will train you to do. A WWI Marine Vet and family friend asked me if I was going to join the Corps? I was 8 years old and said yes. He stated, "it's the best damned fighting outfit that ever put on a uniform!" When I enlisted and graduated from Boot Camp -- I understood.

I dont think their is anything "heroic" about what these people do. Dont get me wrong i have alot of respect for these people being able to do this, but fighting against the insurgents in Iraq is not heroic. Those people are just doing what they feel is right, they are fighting for their freedom, they are fighting for what their religion tells them.
Perhaps those men should die for what they are doing, but it is sad that they must, their is nothing heroic about it.

My time in the Marine Corps was less than stellar but my respect for the Corps is utmost.Graduated boot camp 1982 and served in Quantico Va. before going to weekend warrior statis. Wish I had joined full time.

the Marine Corps is older than the United States so we have been defending the Consititution since it was created Dont forget that while the original constitution is in a vault and dust free that there arent past and present Marine's blood on it so that u can come up with fictional excuses as to why Marines dont matter Y would one of our former Presidents say "some ppl spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference Marines dont have that problem."

Though it's very possible that the Marine Corps was initially created for good reasons, and the Marines initially fought for freedom ... that is, without a doubt, no longer the case.
For at least half a century now, Marines, like all other military branches have been used to carry out the criminal agendas of a wealthy elite few.
