  • i cried when he say to his mom "mom you give me live"

  • I really wish I lived in Kokomo at that time! Those "concerned" parents really piss me with their willful ignorance.

  • Can you get AIDS from an infected persons blood? I

  • The blonde reporter's name is Jenny Taylor...

  • Just proves that fear is borne out of ignorance.

  • how did he get it?!

  • @ashley102497 he had hemophaelia (a blood clotting disorder) so as a young child he had a lot of blood transfusions. This was before the time of testing blood etc as HIV/Aids was still very new and not understood.

  • At 5:48 to bad Ryan wasn't enlightened to tell that news reporter when they still did a half ass job reporting news, not suggesting it that his disease was Government made back in 1963 to 1978 under what was called the "Virus Cancer Research Program." Yeah back then that would have been an unconceivable thought & a raw horrible truth but no doubt that would have stopped this epidemic of what it is now & locked up people like Henry Kissinger, Nixon, Dr. Robert Gallo. Roy Ash, & whoever else....

  • I dont care how scared people were back then that gives you no right to treat people like that!!! Disgusting!!

  • I can KIND OF understand the people who signed the petition. They're just scared and nobody really knew that much about it but for people to be cruel to him for just trying to live is just plain stupid. This movie really boosted Judith Light's activism.

  • 2:43 "mom you gave me life" sooo sweet!!

  • LOL

  • It was so wrong & sad for that poor child to have to go through that. Smh! It don't matter what color he was. He was still a human being & deserved better treatment!

  • ignorant a 13 year old has to stand up to some prejudice adults for a right to walk into a building just plaine ignorant

  • I live in Indiana. This movie depicts our ppl from it to a "T" snobs! lol

  • Comment removed

  • The fact of the matter is people have all rights to have their own thoughts or beliefs, ignorant as some of those thoughts some may think they are, just as you believe your right, so do those who you think are wrong. That's just life.

  • I almost feel sorry for those people who signed that petition who now have to live whit that knowledge of signing something like that because of petitioners who spread ignorance and prey on peoples fears. Its just sad.

  • It's so sad how people treated him like that. Well at least i can sleep easy knowing that they got what was coming to them.Pay back is a bitch and i know that they got what they deserved for treating him like that.

  • @sapphiretwilight1 Of course you don't, you racist ass.

  • Why do these people even know he has AIDS? It's none of their fucking business. Whatever happened to medical privacy? Douche bags out there!

  • The reporter looks like the actress who was in "Walker, Texas Ranger".

  • U ALL NEED TO GROW UP AND STOP THE RACISTNESS AS UR OF ORDER THERE IS NO NEED 4 IT STOP ACTING CHLIDISH OR ELSE

  • U ALL NEED TO GROW UP AND STOP THE RACISTNESS AS UR OF ORDER THERE IS NO NEED 4 IT STOP ACTING CHLIDISH OR ELSE

  • WHITES BLACKS HISPANIC ASIANS ETC we all have a way if being RACIST so please NO ONE POINT A FINGER at each other if you gonna do so be RACIST TO IGNORANCE AND PEOPLES ATTITUDES... Not the color if they skin ITS NOT SKIN THAT OFFENDS its the PERSON geezzzzzzzzzz

  • @sapphiretwilight1 wonder bread? haha great one. seem to me like you are a little jealous. Don't even try to deny it. White people are beautiful..There are beautiful black people, asian, hispanic and so on... how about you grow up.

  • @sapphiretwilight1 STOP with the racist slurs or I'll remove your posts. Discuss issues normally.

  • @sapphiretwilight1 You implied that Hispanic is a race by implying that you aren't white. You could be 100% Spanish, which is white. And who said I'm white? But guess what? MOST WHITE PEOPLE ARE NOT TRAILER TRASH. Stop being racist. Your post only proves my point.

  • @sapphiretwilight1 Racist piece of trash! No wonder some Amiercans hate Mexican illegal immigrants, which I have no doubt your trashy bigoted parents were. Shit like you are proof that abortion is needed. Its a pity your scum father didn't kill your dirty slimy greasy slut mother before you were born.

  • @sapphiretwilight1 You sick racist piece of shit! NO WONDER some people hate illegal Mexican immigrants, which I have no doubt you are. You are just shit that should have been aborted.

  • @sapphiretwilight1 Racist piece of slimy shit!

  • if Ryan White really acted like this kid is acting, it seem's like he was a little spoiled. i mean even before he found out he had AIDS. or maybe that's just how this kid was told to play the part. anyway's, R.I.P Ryan the way that town treated you was just terrible.

  • @nibornna I think there is something wrong with you, or you watched the wrong clips, because in this movie he acted so FAR from being spoiled, its not funny.

  • Scars73 my mom's boss died from AIDS. When he was diagnosed with it he thought it was leukemia. Its so sad!! Thankfully today we know what it is,how not to get it,and that we can't get it from other people except by a blood transfusion or by sex with many other people. I feel so bad for Ryan White. The way the people were treating him and didn't want him to go to school makes me sick!!

  • @sapphiretwilight1 Ryan was white, you racist dumbass. You seem to like him, but you're a racist! You also need an education, because Hispanic isn't a race, and not all white people are pale.

  • mom you gave me a life! aww this movie is making me cry!

  • I read somewhere that Ryan told his Mom, just as you are protecting me, they're trying to protect THERIR kids

  • @bostonscholar He's said that in interviews too. He had an amazing spirit.

  • @bostonscholar they were being jerks

  • whos that girl in 7:17

  • what is that girls name in 7:17 ?

  • theres one thing too keep a kid out of school for a few days but to keep him out for the rest of his life thats just stupid i understand also that he is a hemophiliac however i think the school district isnt worried about the kids as much as they are worried what kind of panick they have to go through if this poor kid gets in to an accident they re just ignorant and lazy plain and simple

  • @skinnyminny25 It was very scary back in the 80's No one knew what AIDS was, where it came from, how it spreads, and what the cure was. Everyone across the world was panicked.

  • that girl in 7:16 is very hot.

  • ignorance will never die

  • What a sweet, smart child. Very brave.

  • Ryan is so brave.

  • poor ryan

  • its amazing how ignorant people were back then....some of it still lingers today

  • @themachinegunn The Human race was an evolutionary blunder...

  • @themachinegunn sad isnt it

  • @themachinegunn It lingers in boatloads. When it comes to gays/gay marriage, overweight people, etc. People are just so judgemental and nasty.

  • @themachinegunn I very much agree, People would act different if it was there own kid or family member but when it is someone else its so easy to point fingers, sign petitions, or act like its bad... Its amazing how the people act...

  • Guys! this is 2009. Hatefulness towards any one is just plain wrong. No one is better than anyone else and the people that acted this way were acting out of ignorance and fear. I bet not one of them did any research as to how the disease is spread.

As for all the name calling on this page it makes me sad. There's no need for it and it just keeps the hate ball rolling!

  • this movie makes me real sad

  • what the fuck are you tyring to say you can't catch aids by just being around others

  • Hahahahah you are soo funny ,but you don't fucking know me

  • yeah i do your a typical nigger

  • yeah you seem like a typical hunky

  • @danimal90210 i hate u ive never hated anyone as much as i hate u how could u say such ignorant things u say it as if it was his choice how would u like it if you lived ryans life aids isnt something u joke with

  • yes name of the bitch that started the petition please

  • its so touching at 3:15

  • how can u hate a child for having aids when it was out of his controll signing pettitions???/ what are u crazy

  • ur an idiot sondano a real idiot

  • You ask yourself you idiot: Why would they be so ignorant when at that time it was already proved to be hard to spread just by touching etc?

  • Ryan was selfish? Yeah how dare he want an education right? How dare he want the right to be treated equally!

    You're a dumbass...

  • and what a lovely thing to say to his mother at 2:44 mins

  • is this the real ryan white?

im only 13 soo i dont really know..sorry

  • no its an actor playing him . the real ryan is in part 7

  • No. The real Ryan White played Chad in this story. The actor is Lucas Haas.

  • what an awesome kid when the mum is saying it was her fault and ryan says "you gave me life" i almost cried

  • xane - good job on not reading the whole comment. i said it made me mad too. i live in kokomo. i wasnt alive when ryan white was. hows that make it my fault? what could i have done? Sure alot of people back then were ignorant, but obviously your ignorant too.

  • hey hey just hold it right there! i wasnt talking to u so get lost and preach your ignorance to someone who cares ok *mtchew*

  • stop saying " oh not all ppl of Kokomo were like that" it's a silly excuse cos what the Kokomo ppl did was wrong and it dsnt matter who did it.They did horrible stuff to the poor guy,he went through hell

  • yes he did but not every one was an ass to him and what about the people who moved there after it or were born after it your f-ing stupid and yeah go ahead and vote this down I know I'm right

  • stupid yo ass bitch dnt get all defensive on me im stating my thoughts and if u dnt like it go burn! dnt be starting wahala here with me

  • Please say what SOME of the Kokomo people did was wrong. It's true. Not all people in Kokomo were like that. Remember, there were some on the side of the white family. Some friends, family, lawyers, doctors, other parents, etc.

  • Fear of the unknown..

  • Popculture you gotta calm down. I know it pisses you off. It pisses me off too and I am from Kokomo but not everyone was like that to him. This story is very sad and again I will say i wish it hadn't happened here but it did and I wasn't alive when it happened and there is nothing i can do about. I know i sure as hell would not have signed that petition.

  • My belief is that God loved Ryan so much, that he wanted him to come home soon. Your home Ryan, and one day, we all will be up there with him. Your an angel Ryan :)

  • my best friend died in '91 of aids! we did everything together and i didnt care what he had, he was the best person in the world. and he got certain rights because of ryan and i hope ryan is resting in peace!

  • Me too. Ryan helped so many people by sharing his story and his struggle. He really made people open their eyes when it came to Aids.

  • That's wonderful that you were such a lovely friend to him! Ryan really made a difference.

  • @Vatfryer you are a bitch

  • I felt so bad for Ryan's mom in this clip. I thought it was sweet Ryan telling his mom "You gave me life." God bless him.

  • I felt for her too. Ryan had a wonderful heart. Too bad there aren't more people like him.

  • disgusting how people made a petition like that, against a child.

  • It's absolutely heartless.

  • fuckin pricks i bet if they heard from albert einstein u cant get aids by casual contact theyd still sign it but if a monkey says u can they'll listen to it i mean seriously

  • im not gonna lie if i met someone with aids i would not want to be around them ... people are scared of what they dont know

  • Yes, MiamiBabii, but you KNOW you can't get AIDs unless you touch blood on an open sore/drink/get it in your eyes.

Besides, you probably wouldn't know if a person had AIDs. Your best friend could have it and you wouldn't know.

  • Understandable, but think of it like this - If you've been in public, you've touched something that someone with AIDS has touched. And you're fine.

  • It's called read up on it. These people were scared and went nuts instead of getting the facts straight. Aids is a pretty hard disease to get. You get it from sexual fluids and blood. You don't get it from being in the same building with someone who has it.

  • i know but if i knew someone like that i would feel very uncomfortable ....

  • I think if you really loved that person you'd get over it after awhile.

  • @miamibabii77 I guess it's like not wanting to be around someone who has cancer or someone who's had a major accident, it makes you see human vulnerability and throws the fact that we're all mortal in your face. That sort of thing simply scares the hell out of us. But what if one of your friends or a family member was diagnosed with AIDS? Would you stay away from them when they need you most, because you're scared?

  • since the assholes of Kokomo Indiana wanted to make a cruel petition against Ryan, i would've started a petition to mark small mid-western towns as vicious towns in America because of the way Ryan was treated in his own small town.

  • why would you do that? there are a lot of good people in mid-western towns.

  • if there were so many so-called good people in small mid-western towns in the 1980s, then why would the entire town of Kokomo form a rebellion against Ryan? if 90% of a town is capable of something, then how would you know near by cities aren't capable of the same thing? yes people can be that gullible and stupid from time to time

  • bytch...as soon as she wud had said for me to sign i wudve smacked tht shyt out my face and on tha ground and told tht bytch to fuck her petetion and suck my dick. Ryan-THA BRVAE KID WIT COURAGE!

  • I want to know how these people could even possibly live with themselves after the way they persecuted Ryan for a virus that he had no control over.

    R.I.P. Ryan White.

  • I wonder too. I hope people learn from this incident, to be gentler to others.

  • R.I,P, RYAN WHITE

  • If I were him I would have went out and threw fake blood on all the reporters, they are some assholes

I am so glad people are more informed on HIV/AIDs today I just wish people would take that info and use it because now people think they're invincible and they can fuck any and everybody without condoms and then act all surprised when they catch it as if they didn't know it existed, grow up and be real people

  • HAHAHA TRUE THT!

  • JOHN MELLENCAMP.....HOWEVER YOU SPELL THAT....whoa my caps were on.

    i wasnt yelling

    promise.

  • I wish they had a petition to keep me out of school i hated the place!

  • What's the title of the song playing at 3:30, please? Thanks.

  • Authority

  • By whom, if you know, please? Thanks.

  • JOHN MELLENCAMP.....HOWEVER YOU SPELL THAT....whoa my caps were on.

    i wasnt yelling

    promise.

  • Awh Andrea! Omg, I wish I could meet this family.

  • Faggot is such a demeaning word.

  • They think I'll die, right? Well they better not hold their breath!!!

  • 5 years- he showed them!

  • He sure did!

  • its not that indiana is all small towns..

its just noone knew about the disease so stop blaming small towns.

i live in indiana right now. and nothing is really small.

  • They're scared, and ignorant... it was the 80s, after all. Hopefully we've all progressed beyond this....

  • I certainly hope so!

  • Those parents are cruel.

  • all people in small towns are ignorant and stupid

  • Yes. I definitely know that to be very true.

  • That's a very ignorant thing to say. In the '80s, my family lived in a small Indiana town and my parents had a friend with AIDS and he came over all the time.
