The whole band is great but hearing someone as young as Tal play like a groove machine with these top tier players is just amazing, the only thing to come close was seeing Stevie Windwood blow everybody off the stage when he was only 19 or so, taste is taste & class is class. Next to the woman who played bass on a load of Motown sessions she is the best. Who cares is if she is a girl ?.

People critical of Tal's playing or the fact she's a kid? It's amazing to me that she's even playing with Beck. Clearly he saw something, and he's no fool; he's always surrounded himself with the best, and I don't think this was a mistake. The major hallmark of Jeff Beck's career is that he has always brought out the best of the professionals he works with. Fantastic player with fantastic bands!
Jeff has been playing like this for 40+ years !! a lot of you shredder ingrates were not even a gleam in your Grandad's eye when he was tearing up the stage in small clubs in England & the US, okay, we now have loads of awesome players but to hear this kind of playing in 1966 was mind blowing, next to Hendrix he is THE greatest, innovative & most original player ever except maybe Les Paul.
Like Hendrix he plays on the edge, one night he would blow the doors off another night he was just so-so.

You know, I'll admit, when I first saw this video I had the typical male response. Then, on about the third view, I did the non typical male thing - I closed my eyes. Tal has soul. When I realized this, I no longer looked at her in the typical male way. Oh don't get me wrong - I still looked! But I have more respect for her talent with each view. Go Tal!!
@BOEINGNUT I admit to it too. Cute girl with a heart on her t-shirt goes on stage with a bass. This is a gimmick, right? And then I listened (it does help to close your eyes). Those sounds coming out of that bass are pretty cool. This number showcases both of their talents, and it's synergy. It's beauty.
Never heard of Tal Wilkenfeld before tonight, but she's terrific. Great to see the next generation of talented jazz improv musicians. I pity anyone who can't hear her music because they're brains never made it past the fourth grade.
Geoff found a lovely young pheonom to place among the stars. She has the musical talent and if you haven't noticed she might just be able to attract attention back to the musicians. Someone should thank him for making sure that talent wasn't wasted.

@gillan64 Even at my advanced age, I was able to spot that gorgeous young lady on bass. In fact, I was at this concert in Chicago watching them live. I have seen Jeff Beck twice since he turned 60 and he had sleeveless shirts both times. Really no big deal but most men over 50 (myself, included) don't need to exhibit their bare arms publicly.

@Uroboros2 This is Pro musicianship, get over yourself. Jeff plays a blinder as always. Bass is incredible, that'd be Tal's way. Shame we never heard any stuff about the percussion and keys. Pro musicians doing the same stuff . Jeff is something else...incredible..incredulous..indescribable. @gillan64 Even at my advanced age, I was able to spot that gorgeous young lady on bass. In fact, I was at this concert in Chicago watching them live. I have seen Jeff Beck twice since he turned 60 and he had sleeveless shirts both times. Really no big deal but most men over 50 (myself, included) don't need to exhibit their bare arms publicly.

@tskaggs56 I'm with you 100%... After watching a whole lot of footage of her playing with Beck, especially the Ronny Scotts stuff, I now see that she is one hell of a musician. I's say the ideal bassist for Jeff Beck. She knows exactly what to do and doesn't tread on his toes. I've heard some of her debut album and to me it sounds like elevator music, way too safe, but once she finds herself she's gonna turn out some mind blowing stuff I'm sure!

Dont quite know what utopian design is getting at, this is as close to bass perfection as you'll get, give her time!! Shes sharing the stage with Jeff and Vinnie for f***s sake!! The cavemen commenting on her boobs are well..... also correct but grow up guys. She 20 years old here and been playing bass only 3 years! wow. I know guys who have been playing 20 years who wouldnt have a hope in hell of playing ANY of that solo, would make you weep (and it did)

But I hear no prayer for him in his travels, no display of hope for him in his relationship with his wife, that they might grow old, hand in hand. There is a sad shallowness in the world today.
