Shaven can have massive blocks of infantry, amazing saves for them which sucks tiger testicles, and in lower point games completely dominate with ranks and saves and overpowered weapons. Of course skaven are overpowered. Especially when your friend starts playing them and he rolls like he's fucking Jesus.
@SkavenWarhammer Your a pretty good painter. I think I'll subscribe now, the only problem is you gotta post more videos, and make them interesting too. You can't just have all your videos be pictures and words, you need some audio and stuff. Overall your pretty good painter, I look forward to more videos from you.
great report, one question, wuldnt the warpcannon need line of sight to the knights? cuz from wat i understand is that line of sight through guys are greatly expressed in 8th edition, i culd be rong
@theseventhson95 I'm assuming your a beginner, in that case Skaven aren't really a good army to begin with. On the tabletop they are good, and they are really simple to play. The only problem is that is a lot of models you gotta assemble and paint, so for a beginner, not a good selection. But if you really want to go ahead, I'm just giving you some advice.
@SmerkenKerk no wait , i play warhammer 40k and i am a pretty good painter.I generally dont like hordes ( I play Csm and Space Wolves ) but Skaven are vey attractive.I am a begginer of Warhammer Fantsay though ( i have just learned the rules and have played a siple battle with the Tomb Kings of a friend of mine ).
I started Empire in 8th, and I love 'em. They're an average army is the general consensus, but I've been doing really well with them. I love the models, too.
@andkre1990 Wow man your absolutely right according to the new 8th rule book the war machines arent effected by loss of crew. I still think crew should be removed as casualties but the only time it really matters is with bolt throwers. It does specifically say on page 109 or 111, I think, how a bolt thrower requires at least two crew members to pull back the string and load it. Theres no longer loss of crew firing penalties though apparently. Good catch and thanks.
Page 108 of the rulebook shows that the cannon has three wounds basically because you have three crewmen and each wound is a crew member. So when he did the two wounds from sling fire you would need to remove two of your crew from the cannon. This would also effect how long you take to reload and thus how often you could fire the cannon from that point onn
@MyDwarfman to me it seems like they are doing it right. Yes you can remove crew members as wounds to the machine, but loss of crew no longer reduces the functionality of the war machine (as long as at least 1 crewman is alive). At least I can't find a reference to loss of crew and functionality in the rulebook.
Page 113 of the 8th edition rulebook says that the cannon ball does continue on even if it does'nt kill the model. It still continues on its bounce path. only monstrous infantry/beast/cavaly will stop it or if it hits impassable terrain. Simply hitting a clanrat or slave wouldnt stop the bounce line of the cannon. So even though he made his ward save, since he is just basic infantry and not monstrous the ball coninues.
uuuum as far as i know you dont tell your opponent your items at the start of the game. but maybe you just said it cause you were commenting on the whole game and did it for illustration purposes.
New Skaven player here. I think I fucked my shit up, lol, I got the Skaven battalion and then a unit of stormvermin and a vermin lord and now I have the most improper army list ever B(
@Orcishempire not anymore! you roll 2d6, whatever you roll is how many power dice you get in that turn's magic phase. you then roll 1d6 for each wizard, any 6's rolled, you add 1 power die to the pool, max 12. double 1 no longer cause miscast, but double 6's will cause irresistible force and a miscast
with the empire you should get a lot of new ruled units like light cav, mortar, cannon to see how much those rules change the game. this is a very bad set up for empire to me
@heppellpot I was playing with the painted models avaialble to me. It was only 1000 points and was mainly meant to show off 8th. What do you think is goo?
@minus67 ah right fair enough, good looking models so far. (Y)
well i think the cannon was too isolated the cross bowmen should have been to the left of the cannon to give it support whilst still being able to rain fire down the centre of the board (long range take advantage of it) also i would have had the spear men infront of the horde and the knights infront of the smaller unit of skaven...
@minus67 ...even up the odds a bit. as the spear men could easily hold up the horde whilst the cavelry (with the aid of the cross bow and cannon fire could have a good bash at taking down the smaller unit of skaven. the gutter runners would have to go for the cannon so a minimal chance of the knights getting flanked. and they would be taken out enroute to the cannon anyway by the cross bowmen. once the knights had taken down the small unit; reform and flank charge the horde.
you know you guys should try AoA now thats a cool rule book and you can play pretty much any army vs any other army, hell you could have undead vs roman empire if you wanted to ;) :D!

@theseventhson95
It is quite early still but Skaven are shaping up to be one of the best armies in 8th edition. Though Skaven have always been okay to play.
Look around online for some rough tier lists and you will see Skaven are rated as no.1 by several sources.

@oceantic121 but...if things go bad (almost everything can misfire and blowup) you die horribly so you need a sense of humour to play them.
