Saw Rick perform this song in Halifax, Nova Scotia, just a short time before he died. Was coming home from a gig of my own, stopped outside the club where he was onstage, and just stood on the sidewalk, watching him do this song. A moment that meant a lot to me.

Never heard this version. Ricky was always a great singer, pity he's no longer with us! But I don't think this is as good as the Bobby Darin version, it's just a bit too slushy. Sorry folks but it's just my opinion!

I only have one gripe with this version of the song.

His voice is so gorgeous and he sings amazingly well, but he sings the rhythm so straight-forwardly, there's no surprise because he doesn't mix up the chorus, and I swear he never articulates a new syllable EVER except either right on the beat, or right on the off-beat. Never any triplets, or on the eight-notes or anything fun, just two-and-three, and-one-and-and.

But other than that it's addicting.

A different version of this is on the Stay Young album. Gotta be listened to with a good set of earphones. It has less emphasis on the instruments, more on Rick's voice. He was absolutely amazing. Much more subtle, much more sincere, and much more sensual than any other version of this song.
