Bluecoats has a pretty notey book, as does BlueDevils, so it's kind of hard to say that Bluecoats book is alot easier than BD's. But BD always has a great quad line. And Scott as a addition makes it alot better.

every tenor player ive ever seen play an i&e piece always looks at the drums pretty much the whole time wich is ironic because they are the best at wat they do but ive never in my whole life been taught to look at the drums while playing

@MultiDrummer12 because it's i&e, haha, it's all about the solo.. not keeping eyes on a conductor like back in the line. Trust me, these guys can all play blindfolded if they had to, but they don't have to in i&e (though maybe they would get bonus points for that, lol)

@BabySteve47 no hes not right.. bd is not the best.. they are very good, but their line is too over rated. they got some chops hell yeah, but but scojos writing has been too much lately, like 00 - 06 were his best years, great books that worked. hes been going to hard lately. its just too crazy. it doesnt fit, and this years show should have been like 4th or 5th, cuz it wasnt original, and mad world was just sooooo much better

@ChrisHobobin nooooo bd always goes hardcore.. they have scojo writting thier book, so its always super complicated.. but thats the one thing i dont like about scojo.. hes amazing and all, but he never writes a book that fits the show.. like he throws to many 7's and 5's in there.. he writes like its and indoor show more then outdoor. coats are just right. tim jackson and jim cassela make an awesome team. writing is always a sweet book, but fits the music very well

@masterdrummer19 Sean still techs for BD too. Sean was the tenor tech for tim when he was marching BD. It's one of the reasons Tim became so good. Sean taught me a lot at RCC and so did my old room mate colby beers. Sean has to be one of the most intelligent people I know and would Recommend learning under him more then anyone i know.

@jlwtformer Overall BC rocks. Coats have the cleanest snares in DCI.... But their quadline is weak! It seems like just about every quad line except BD's is weak. That's why he left. Too many tap drags and diddles around the drum. Check out some devs quad line vids. I'm sure you'll agree they are tops compared to just about every other line in DCI. Matt Bowers left the Cadets and went to BD for the same reason.

@jlwtformer I judge a line's caliber based on how beefy the book is and how well that book is played. Their quid book is much more difficult and they play it clean. Overall BD's quid line is just better... But the line as a whole... now that's a different story. What would make BC's quad line better? Their easier book? Both quad lines are just as clean as the other. The line with the beefier book comes out on top when both lines are clean. Easy books are easy to clean.

The coats might be cleaner if theyed get rid of those shitty yamahas, and switch to pearl. hell theyd be better off with dynasty. but the coats do have a great line no doubt, but they kill themslves with terrible drum tunings, and simple books.

@FalamsProductions are you fucking retarded? first off, the drums you have dont make you play cleaner... they could have fucking mapex or premier and sound just as clean. second, they have some of the best tuned drums in all of drum corps. they sound like god. nothing is wrong with their tuning. third, their books are not easy at all. they have extremly difficult books that can be easily compaired to bds. id love to see you play a triplet roll at 205 bpm for like 16 or 20 measures with 9 others.

@FalamsProductions btw if bluecoats are so "Bad" then why are the second in the rankings of percussion. yeah bd is first but only by less than .04 points. so really when the judges look at overall cleaness and difficulty of the book, bd is nowhere near far better then coats. they are almost at tied, and hopefully coats will pass bd in finals.
