Bluecoats has a pretty notey book, as does BlueDevils, so it's kind of hard to say that Bluecoats book is alot easier than BD's. But BD always has a great quad line. And Scott as a addition makes it alot better.
@WeBleedBloo yeah, ill agree with you there.. like bd's tenors are just insane.. no disrespect on coats tenors cuz they are def. second and close, but yeah the only the thats beats BD's tenors is RCC's tenors which is practically BD's tenors lol
every tenor player ive ever seen play an i&e piece always looks at the drums pretty much the whole time wich is ironic because they are the best at wat they do but ive never in my whole life been taught to look at the drums while playing
@MultiDrummer12 because it's i&e, haha, it's all about the solo.. not keeping eyes on a conductor like back in the line. Trust me, these guys can all play blindfolded if they had to, but they don't have to in i&e (though maybe they would get bonus points for that, lol)
@TheInstantNoodle No kidding......I have a playlist of tenor players years past and some of the auditoriums are great! Looks like DCI gave up on supporting I&E's.
@TheInstantNoodle What you don't like the complete lack of acoustic integrity or the trashcan in the background?
Seriously, I agree, this sounds like a boomy WGI gym and though I love indoor, the drums nor the writing lends itself to this type of environment. Taking them outside would even make more sense...
@Euph70 I understand that logistics is an issue but I think this event (I and E) would work best outside. A long time ago DCM did an I and E outside...don't know if it is still that way.
@BabySteve47 no hes not right.. bd is not the best.. they are very good, but their line is too over rated. they got some chops hell yeah, but but scojos writing has been too much lately, like 00 - 06 were his best years, great books that worked. hes been going to hard lately. its just too crazy. it doesnt fit, and this years show should have been like 4th or 5th, cuz it wasnt original, and mad world was just sooooo much better
@ChrisHobobin well it changes every year man.. but im my oppinion, coats are always much cleaner with their book then any other line.. yeah bd is really good, but i think coats are way better. like it always sounds like one drum with them and its just so amazingly clean.
@masterdrummer19 well officially, BD is the top, but sometimes BD doesnt show there full potential. they can do a lot harder stuff then they do in a lot of there shows.
@FlamDragon69 thank you flam, i can tell your someone who actually watches all corps, and can tell who the best lines are, and not just be a band wagon.
@ChrisHobobin nooooo bd always goes hardcore.. they have scojo writting thier book, so its always super complicated.. but thats the one thing i dont like about scojo.. hes amazing and all, but he never writes a book that fits the show.. like he throws to many 7's and 5's in there.. he writes like its and indoor show more then outdoor. coats are just right. tim jackson and jim cassela make an awesome team. writing is always a sweet book, but fits the music very well
@Dragon150043 Or You could go to BD and taught by rudy garcia, since hes the tenor tech there... but yeah sean techs at RCC for WGI.. and btw, id much rater be taught by Tim Jackson (BD tenor from like 02-06 or something like that) then rudy garcia.. rudy is a cool guy, but tim owns him lol. tim might even own sean vega.. the only person to top tim is prolly bill bachman
@masterdrummer19 Sean still techs for BD too. Sean was the tenor tech for tim when he was marching BD. It's one of the reasons Tim became so good. Sean taught me a lot at RCC and so did my old room mate colby beers. Sean has to be one of the most intelligent people I know and would Recommend learning under him more then anyone i know.
@Dragon150043 okay proj. i doubt u marched for rcc. and he doesnt tech at bd anymore... yeah he did when jackson marched, but he hasnt for a while. rudy has been there for a while now. and i still think jackson is better now a days.. just cuz sean taught jackson doesnt mean jackson cant be better. just think of it.. if no one could be better then teachers, then everything would get progressivly worse, and eventually would suck.. fresher people learn newer stuff and have more energy and chops
@masterdrummer19 You know nothing about who I am or what ive done so keep your snide little child comments to yourself. As of 12:55am Sean Vegas name is still on the roster as staff so that negates your comment about Sean not being with BD anymore. Just because a player is a great performer, does not mean they are a good teacher. Not saying Tim cant teach, because I know he can, but neither of us have learned under him in order to compare him to Sean.
@kmtobia oh shit... got keelen on this now.. but no i know rudy is there, and i said sean is with rcc now... isnt tim with bluecoats or did he go to bd.. if so whos at bluecoats now
@meatwad314 yeah everyone is entitled to their opinion.. i like BC u like phantom.. i think phantom is pretty boss too... but yeah BC had a measure in their show this year.. it had some note that was 16:5... i dont even comprehend that lol
@masterdrummer19 I don't know this for sure, but i'm pretty sure he went to high school with 2 of the other quads in the devs. I think nick arce and brandon zackey. So that could be why he made the switch.
@kmtobia hahahah that hilarious but awesome too. his solo definently deservered first, but if you saw jordan brooks solo, it was insanely hot too... it had ,more creative stuff as in tricks, but in difficulty, this kills all.... its pretty much like drew guys solo vs. odellos.. but were hot, but drew was more showy where odello used some major chops
@redbull23952395 some ppl like to ride the band wagon.. i like to stick with what i like... and phantoms gonna be worse this year after losing rennic. i prolly spelled that wrong lol
@jlwtformer Overall BC rocks. Coats have the cleanest snares in DCI.... But their quadline is weak! It seems like just about every quad line except BD's is weak. That's why he left. Too many tap drags and diddles around the drum. Check out some devs quad line vids. I'm sure you'll agree they are tops compared to just about every other line in DCI. Matt Bowers left the Cadets and went to BD for the same reason.
@TheRyan909 He left cause all his friends went to BD, where he tried out at first. As for Matt Idk, but just because a book is choppier doesn't make them better. It's about how you play the drum. And yeah a choppier book looks cooler.
@jlwtformer I judge a line's caliber based on how beefy the book is and how well that book is played. Their quid book is much more difficult and they play it clean. Overall BD's quid line is just better... But the line as a whole... now that's a different story. What would make BC's quad line better? Their easier book? Both quad lines are just as clean as the other. The line with the beefier book comes out on top when both lines are clean. Easy books are easy to clean.
@TheRyan909 I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say that no, BC doesn't have an eisier quad book. How do I know? Well, that doesn't matter, you like BD, I get that, and your favorite indoor line is probably RCC, but I garun damn tee you BC's quad book is as beefy as BD's quad book.
@masterdrummer19 hate to say this man, but youre wrong. BD's line is far better than the coats, in terms of difficulty and cleanliness. The coats might be cleaner if theyed get rid of those shitty yamahas, and switch to pearl. hell theyd be better off with dynasty. but the coats do have a great line no doubt, but they kill themslves with terrible drum tunings, and simple books.
@FalamsProductions are you fucking retarded? first off, the drums you have dont make you play cleaner... they could have fucking mapex or premier and sound just as clean. second, they have some of the best tuned drums in all of drum corps. they sound like god. nothing is wrong with their tuning. third, their books are not easy at all. they have extremly difficult books that can be easily compaired to bds. id love to see you play a triplet roll at 205 bpm for like 16 or 20 measures with 9 others.
@FalamsProductions btw if bluecoats are so "Bad" then why are the second in the rankings of percussion. yeah bd is first but only by less than .04 points. so really when the judges look at overall cleaness and difficulty of the book, bd is nowhere near far better then coats. they are almost at tied, and hopefully coats will pass bd in finals.
