I'm supposed to be heading to Japan to work as an ALT as soon as my paperwork is clear at that end. Trying to get info out of the Japanese & UK Embassies or the agency sponsoring me is a nightmare. All I hear is 'business as usual' or the Chernobyl/Apocalypse news stories. Can you recommend anyone to follow here, or on twitter that could give me some on the ground info?

There's always a gamble living in the Ring of Fire, that is, the earthquake zone around the Pacific. I know because I've experienced multiple EQs where I'm at, but nothing as big as the one in Japan.
