porting gas to the hammer which is sealed or cupped, will provide a semi-auto action.. this is common to paintball gun operation. " maneac23fly" .. inspiration by Buckley may not provide options for the best. there are many builders in North Americas that can put the run on HM unit...many wiil share blue prints for construction. after all "how can you develope/ patent or even copy right something that has 150 year history".. reseach is the key
Quick question though? If you ported out another slot perhaps at 0.05mm [very small i know] from the air transfer port or directly around the stem to the sticker area, considering that the striker and spring assembly is air tight would that perhaps, not cycle the bolt? Thus possibly becoming a semi? Or has this been considered and or rejected due to failure or inefficiency?
@Maneac23ify Thank you for the kind words! I'm not sure that i get exactly what you mean... I think that in order to get a semi auto safe to use you need some sort of "closed bolt" action as opposed to a straight blowback... I haven't really looked into semis (yet..), the closest i have come to semi auto was when i messed up the striker spring/striker weight ratios on one of my gun, and the valve bounce turned it into full auto!!
Perhaps i speak for many other enthusiast out there when i say "Thanks for the explanations and quick rundown on your many Mr H.M.Buckley inspired DIY air rifles". It's a welcomed change to view dedicated quality workmanship. I've lost count how many other claimed "best homemade custom airgun shooting at many thousand psi" [exaggeration of course] only to waist time watching ball valved guns. Even worse, having the nerve to call it a semi auto when another ball valve is added... THEY KNOW WHO!
absolutely infromative!! great vid!! did you know that infromation on the net is very limited to this type of hobby? which leads me to the next questions..do you know of plans Other the famous and costly HM series? do you have infromation of downloadable files that are available to your audience? perhaps you may want to share yours? would like to build a similiar bull pup as you have.. Thank you!! keep up the good work!!
@warlocks789 Thank you for the kind words! You're right about the limited information regarding diy airguns.. I know that there are a lot of talented peopel in Russia that are building airguns.., but google translate doesn't handle gunsmithing that well... I still think that Mr Buckleys books are the best way to gain the understanding needed to build a good PCP airgun. If you download an exploded view of a Rapid i'm sure you'll get some useful ideas on how to design an airgun..
