Thanks. However, I need to know, what if, a defender jumps to intercept the pass or shot and lands closer than 3 feet while the player still has possession. Does the defender still get penalised even though there is no contact?
yeap you won't get penalised if the the ball leaves the player's hands whilst you're jumping. however, if you land less than 3 feet away from the player who still has possession, you'll get penalised. if you're planning on jumping, i'd suggest you place urself more than 3 feet away (before the jump) because you tend to jump forwards and towards the person. this way, you'll more likely land more than 3 feet away and won't get penalised. hope that helps.
Thanks heaps! You were a big help. I want to do something about the awful situation of the game in our parishes in Karachi, as my daughters are now crazy about netball. However, good rule books or sound knowhow is a rarity here. Really frustrating, so now I look to any help on the net. Thanks once again.
Another question, please. What if a center pass by let's say the green team, touches the green wing attack's hand and goes out of bounds. Does the opposing team get a throw in from the sideline where the ball went out, or do they get a penalty from the center circle. Out here they are given a center pass. Please let me know if that is right? ?
The green WA was the last player to have 'touched' the ball prior to the ball going "out of bounds" (I assume you mean in this instance "out of court"). Then the opposition is awarded a THROW IN ensuring the player stands outside the Court and places one or both feet immediately behind the point where the ball crossed the line.
Play shall be started, and restarted AFTER every goal scored, and after each interval, by a Centre Pass taken alternately throughout the game by the two Centres.
not exactly right, The rule states : A defender MAY be with 0.9m of a player who has possession of the ball as long as they DO NOT go to defend, intimitade, or go to raise thier hands away from the side of their body, in order to interfere, in any way, with the play of the ball.
cint from last post,, So if a defender leans in then falls within 0.9m of the shooter and then does nothing to intimate the shooter in any way they have a right of passage to be there. They MUST have distance correct first then raise hands. Its all the umpires call, some will ping it some wont, The rule book doest ref the game the officals do. :-) Happy netballing
Does a defender have to stay three feet away from the shooter while she has possession of the ball? Can someone tell me, please?

you need a rly gd vertical jump
also having your knees slightly bent helps because then your knees arent locked so the jump can be excecuted faster.
