I have seen at least 1 news report out of Dallas about the ATF and FBI raiding a condo rented under a muslim name in which they found AK-47's (REAL FULL AUTO ONES) and RPG's.
I want to say the person who rented the condo was arrested. I imagine they had plenty to say about where they got those, since neither of those are legal in the U.S. without SERIOUS regulation.

The % of homicides in America compared to other (developed) countrys are insane. The amount of robberies etc gone wrong (as in someone seriously injured or killed) in America, are much higher than in other (developed) countrys.
Strict gun laws are about people who have mental disorders not bearing guns. Convicted felons not bearing guns. Drive-bys kill innocent ppl. That's the deal.

THe right to bear arms is one thing. What type of arms is certainly open to question. It can go from one extreme to another. I support having a gun but certainly do not see the neccesity of a gun that can mow down 50 people at a time.
But you own a four wheeled projectile that is capable of mowing 50 people down at one time. In fact automobile accidents are the leading cause in children's deaths. Not school shootings. Sports injuries, backyard pools and bicycles are far ahead of shootings. You do not have the right to own a car, but anyone can purchase one, own it, and drive it in your own yard. Just don't take it on the street without a drivers license. I guess why is there no notion to ban cars?
Gun control does work. Look at other countries in the world. Take belize for example about ten years ago violent gun crime spiked and then the government passed a law that if your caught with a gun (or even a bullet) it's automatic jail time. Violent gun crime dropped to almost nothing after the law was passed. PROOF THAT GUN LAWS WORK.

That's the problem. Permits can't find out the true nature of the person who is getting those guns. There is a lot of really REALLY stupid people who have permits. I turned in some very mentally unstable people with permits and stock piles of guns. They didn't take the guns but revoked the permits. The "Heller" decision was made to appear to "protect" gun rights but by allowing the Supreme Court to make any kind of decision, only damaged the Second Amendment. It allows for "reasonable regulation" which did not exist before. Many states are moving to pass their own gun laws now that would have been considered unconstitutional in the past. Private sidearms (and anything else) is exactly what they'll be after.

Shadow, if the time ever comes when the citizens of the US rise up against their government, I'll be amazed. The population of this country has put up with 8 years of constitutional abuses, civil rights abuses, dissolving of age old civilian protections and you think that they'll stand up now..dream on. The Patriot act allows the President to name anyone an enemy combatant and have them thrown in prison without a lawyer, or even charges brought against them..even US citizens. A new Executive Order allows your city, state or country gov to spy on you and pick up up, charge you as a "domestic terrorist". Who have you pissed off lately? There are many others, better pay attention.
And yet there are still plenty of liberal retards runing around wanting to impeach Bush. I wonder why they havent been declared enemy combatants and sent to gitmo? Im sure the Presidents allways had the ability to pick up anyone off the street and hold them against their will. I wanted to buy an AR-15 at my local gun store and found out today those things are selling like hot cakes. They're all on back order apparently, they had none available, but just a month ago they had plenty. Something is going to happen in this country soon. NObama better not try anything stupid.
Just an update. Earlier this week, a person form Europe said that I was uncivilized, because I own a gun. Here is a story from the UK, where this guy killed his neighbor with a hammer and then cut the guy's head off. He then went on to rape another neighbor.

Just remember, 3 Supreme Court Judges are retiring during Obama's term in office, and Obama will get to choose who replaces them. The Democrats will vote his choices in a heartbeat. The Second Amendment only passed by 1 vote 5-4. Obama only needs to put one in place to change the vote 4-5 and the Second Amendment will be a thing of the past.

I have seen at least 1 news report out of Dallas about the ATF and FBI raiding a condo rented under a muslim name in which they found AK-47's (REAL FULL AUTO ONES) and RPG's.
I want to say the person who rented the condo was arrested. I imagine they had plenty to say about where they got those, since neither of those are legal in the U.S. without SERIOUS regulation.
The ONLY possible origin for those arms would be Mexico.

When you say "homicide in the heat of the moment", well this is generally how most homicides take place, with or without a fire-arm. The term 'heat of the moment' also begs for a clear understanding. You see, heat of the moment could mean a spontaneous case of road-rage or it could mean you were awakened by a a burglar who has entered your home.

Um, more children are killed in automobile accidents, back yard pools, and sports over gun related deaths. Its a joke they are concerned with gun deaths when there are bigger fish to fry. The right to bear arms shall not be infringed. There seems to be treason already performed twards the second amendment. Look a Switzerland and the gun crime rate. England has gun control, but now talking about banning sharp kitchen knives. Whats next there? Banning rocks?

It's my belief that most people who are pro gun control do not like guns because they have nnever been taught how to use a gun.
The only thing they know about guns is what they see on television and movies. These same people seem also to be extremely uneducated about the history of the gun as it relates to the United States.They are afraid of the gun and the fear makes them automatically want demonize it.

That is so true. I also see gun enthusiests attempt to educate and share the sport to newcomers by handing them the largest hand cannon they own to impress them on the power of the gun. This is wrong and it only supports their theory and fear for firearms. It can be and is a fun sport to partake in. I've seen more injuries, my self included, from bicycle accidents. I think its a behavior problem that needs adressed and guns are just a good scapegoat.

THe right to bear arms is one thing. What type of arms is certainly open to question. It can go from one extreme to another. I support having a gun but certainly do not see the neccesity of a gun that can mow down 50 people at a time.

Sports injuries, backyard pools and bicycles are far ahead of shootings. You do not have the right to own a car, but anyone can purchase one, own it, and drive it in your own yard. Gun control does work. Look at other countries in the world. Take belize for example about ten years ago violent gun crime spiked and then the government passed a law that if your caught with a gun (or even a bullet) it's automatic jail time. Violent gun crime dropped to almost nothing after the law was passed. PROOF THAT GUN LAWS WORK.

You should read your history, the constitution and learn about what Liberty, Freedom and Personal Responsibility really mean.
The sources you need are all over the net, try googleing 'history of the second amendment' or something to that effect to start out.
As a side note, a couple of very good books I recommend are "Molon Labe" and "Boston's Gun Bible" written by 'Boston T. Party'(AKA Kenneth Royce)

All I'm saying that with everyone getting all hot and bothered about some idea that a law is going to change, more guns will be laying around for more people to have accidents or use them in a panic..that's all. Nothing wrong with hunting rifles but really who needs a AK-47 to hunt with, or even a hand gun. You would only need one of those if you intended to have it handy to shoot a person.

I would really like to see a source for either of those claims, not every roman was a soldier and you might want to account for the soldiers that are registered gun owners. I agree with you flatlandtom. but we don't need a piece of paper to tell us that we have the right to protect ourselves & our family. that's our human right. if you expect rain, you get your umbrella. if you expect harm to you and your family from someone or some institution, when all else fails, the gun is an equalizer. both the rain and the government are unpredictable. gun laws inhibits the lawful, promote the criminals. I don't want an umbrella on my hand when the unlawful wants to harm me.

Look, I'm not an American, but I find it silly the degree to which your culture glorifies historical figures out of blind patriotism. I think there is a valid argument for people wanting to retain the right to bear arms, but there's no logical reason for untrained people to walk around with grenades, handguns, and automatic weapons unless you plan to launch some sort of civil uprising and kill a lot of people. I just don't see it happening outside of the entire system collapsing.

That's the problem. Permits can't find out the true nature of the person who is getting those guns. There is a lot of really REALLY stupid people who have permits. I turned in some very mentally unstable people with permits and stock piles of guns. They didn't take the guns but revoked the permits. You should have a reasonable amount of intellect to own a weapon.

The "Heller" decision was made to appear to "protect" gun rights but by allowing the Supreme Court to make any kind of decision, only damaged the Second Amendment. It allows for "reasonable regulation" which did not exist before. Many states are moving to pass their own gun laws now that would have been considered unconstitutional in the past. Private sidearms (and anything else) is exactly what they'll be after.

In the 1960's, Kruschev the soviet leader said that the biggest threat to the soviet military if they invaded the USA would not be the US military, it would be the 80 million US gun owners. Just an update. Earlier this week, a person form Europe said that I was uncivilized, because I own a gun. Here is a story from the UK, where this guy killed his neighbor with a hammer and then cut the guy's head off. He then went on to rape another neighbor.
"Boudjenane visited Sainsburys to buy bleach and a mop. He had beaten Mr Ouyahia with a hammer and chopped his head off with a meat cleaver."
