All of my snakes yawn fairly frequently, all 12 of them, and different species. It's not a respiratory problem. There are plenty of other signs for that. Ball pythons seem to yawn a lot more often though lol

mine does that after eating its cause he is repossitioning his Jaws, or sometimes just Yawning as far as I can tell and I dont believe the respitory comment but will look into it

you should watch out for that, snakes don't yawn. they do stretch and if it's just like a rarely occuring thing than it's no big but if it's happening lots it can be signs of a respiratory infection, they're really easy to treat but if not noticed can be fatal. beautiful snake though. i'd like to get a burmese python but i don't think i'd be able to give it the proper enclosure, then again i do have 2 columbian read tails, but they're only babies now. i'll cross that bridge when i get there

My snake does that all the time and it's so cute but she's only a foot long snow corn snake and weighs less than a pound. She cant  hurt me.

Don't mean to spam your page, but it's kind of relevant. Anyone in the U.S. or it's provinces should be aware of a bill currently in the house, H.R. 2811, to add pythons to the list of injurious animals. Not only will that ban the import and trade, but ownership, as well. Anyone in possession of one will have to foot the bill to destroy it.

Call your Representatives, tell them you're against 2811, passing it will protect nothing, and pythons aren't a threat to our ecosystem.

@novolo snake "yawn" sometimes to re-align their jaws, especially after eating too :) i got a ball python and he yawns quite a bit, it's pretty cool!
