@gnowave "The band were offered the support slot on Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour's 1984 UK solo dates, but were promptly dropped after reading out former Pink Floyd member Syd Barrett's home address."
"Beautiful Day" by The Airwaves uploaded originally from "Falling Uphill" - features previously unreleased tracks by Television Personalities, Jowe Head and Angel Racing Food & Barbara Manning. If you have a listen; hope you enjoy it!
Check out Nikki Sudden doing a cover of If I Could Write Poetry at our channel taken from the 10 volume TVP tribute out on the Beautiful Music label - essential coolection for TVP fans - features submissions from many bands and musicians who were on Whaam Records, Dreamworld Label, Creation & Sarah to name a few. It also features some amazing versions of this song by The Shambles, Jo Bartlett, in addition to 2 versions by Nikki Sudden with Epic and The Yellow Melodies version coming soon.
I remember the first time I heard this on the radio, while driving in 1986, and how displeased I was at the fact that the Best of Television Personalities CD version is different! This is the one I've wanted, YouTube comes through again. yeah
Right, it sound very similar...in fact it could be a citation to the song as well 'Brain damage' is dedicated to Syd; the song, moreover, is dated '81.
This is the band who David Gilmour had as support for his 1984 About Face tour and who read out Barrett's actual address on stage. Gilmour sacked them. A good choice, as Barrett wanted to be left alone and quite what these idiots thought they were going to achieve is anyone's guess
Thank you for watching this video if you have any questions or would like me to send you the song please contact me through a message. Thank you loves <33
Heard this song back in the early 1980's when I was tripping with a friend. It took me years to find it. Thanks for the post!
