If you don't know which one to get: desktop or laptop ten get MBP 17". Its is great machine with high res display and it is still very portable. There is really minimal difference in size and weight between 15 and 17" MBP. You can get a good quality back pack for it form Apple Store. I have MBP 17" and I doesn't feel that the screen is to small or that it's heavy to carry around home or work. It is one time expensive purchase but you will get a laptop with great screen and speed enough.

Since I'm going to be able to buy an iMac in Feb, I'm going to wait until March or April. I don't want a repeat of when I bought my Macbook without researching on the forums. I was sad when they came out with an aluminum Macbook shortly after I had bought my 2008 Macbook.

Buying a mac is a dumb decision in my opinion. Once you get it, your stuck with that hardware unless you buy a whole other desktop. With PC you can upgrade your own internals at your own leisure. But this is all imo

1) Another iPad is most definitely coming out next February

2) The said iPad is going to have many more features, probably including a faster processor and cameras.
