The intriguing thing here is that while the car closely resembles the Ford Cortina Mk3 (both cars had the same platform) it was a different bodyshell, the Mk3 having more of a cokebottle look to it...

@joh2 Yeah my thoughts exactly, the front-end of the Taunus looks exactly like the face-lifted version of the MK3 cortina.
