  • Thumbs up if this promo is better than windows 95 promotional video

  • Windows 98... the Vista of the 90's.

  • @maztertails No. that was Windows ME. Windows 98 was more of the Windows XP of the 90s in my opinion.

  • @rancidKMFDMpuppy you used this comment from south park bill gates clip :D

  • the legendary and best operating system from microsoft. it was my first operating system

  • Windows 98 is cool as it is haha

  • promotional video too long

  • They're not trying hard, this operating system was actually cool.

  • I am still using Vista and I am happy after service pack 2

  • This is a very good upgrade for Windows Vista.

  • lol omg, this video is so laughable. look at those clunky "laptops"

  • which is more difficult, to programe a computer or to buld a computer?

  • @hamood1234fool

    Equal,

    Building one requires vast knowledge.

Programming requires more vast knowledge, and has it's issues since more than half of computer users are ingrateful and complete jerk offs that can't even figure out how to open a webpage.

Yes, because opening a webpage seems to be so difficult, let alone installing an Antivirus software that's free and not spending 100$ on useless garbage!

  • well at least the os was better than this.

  • Fucking windows 98.

  • I had Windows 98 like in 2003!

    Now I have Windows 7!

    Im loving it :]

  • @TechStudios13 I still have a 9 year old OS called Windows Xp. I don't care.

  • @ivaneduardo747 Iwasnt offending you. I was just saying that I had windows 98.

Sorry if you took it the wrong way pal! P.S I subbed;)

  • @TechStudios13 I said I don't care about having a 9 year old OS. :)

  • crap

  • windows 98 wasnt really the turning point for microsoft, wasnt much different from windows 95, windows 98 still ran on 300 mhz processors and 56 mb of ram... which was considered fast at the time, i have a windows me that was upgraded to an xp, has a 750 mhz processor and 256 mb ram (it originally had 128, i stuck in another 128 from an old comp) windows 95 was what introduced the task bar, i remember being like 5 years old and so siked about getting a windows 95, haha..

  • i remember being siked when i got my own comp when i was 12, and it windows xp on it. lol anybody remember those gateway 2000 systems with windows me? still wasnt much different from 98, or 95.. man, how things have changed.. we gots win 7 now and it rly is beast!

  • @unitard08 same here.

  • i have that laptop!

  • 0:32 "the internet is a series of tubes"

  • win vista roxx

  • @hurlykyler only if you like getting frequent visits from mister blue screen o'death! win 7 ftw

  • @hurlykyler vista sucks big time!

  • God, I miss 90s technology and the 90s in general.

  • @ShadowSniper789 The DVD Video format was first introduced by Toshiba in Japan in November 1996, in the United States in March 1997 (test marketed),[6] in Europe in October 1998, and in Australia in February 1999. -Wikipedia.

  • I Agree that Windows 98 is faster!

  • @JJ7x6Studios your right

  • God, her internet connection must be slow.

  • WTF a DVD Drive on a Pc back in 1998 thats bullshit !!! The First Dvd Players came out late 1999 and they price were over a grand back then i should know i bough one back in 2000 , so the first click is bullshit nice try but u cant fool me

  • @ThePrestonSteamer

Actually, DVD players came out around 1997.

  • @ThePrestonSteamer

We wouldn't need to. You are a typical fool.

  • OMG a dvd drive! Let's us it to play Crysis! :P

  • I love Windows 95 Promo tape than this!

  • poor house.....

  • Well, Windows 98 WAS cool

  • klklkkk

  • why did microsoft discontinue Windows 9x?? i want it back! =(

  • Because the 9.x series was not capable of running as a true 32 bit environment where apps could be ran in protected mode instead of 16 bit real mode. Also, the 9.x systems didn't support the NTFS file system. Finally, there were way too many ways to exploit a 9.x system with various denial of service attacks and malicious scripts. You are better off running Linux/Unix if you want to bring your old systems back to life.

  • Microsoft had plans to intergrate the Chicago and NT kernels in the early 90's when Windows 95 was in beta, but that didn't occur until XP

  • i have mi win98 computer for 10 yrs now

    nd still working great

  • I like the tune.

I remember when XP came out I was like "98 SE works very well, there's no need to upgrade". And then I upgraded to XP... and some year later I discovered Ubuntu Linux and Mac OS X and now I no longer use Windows.

  • I have a 95 laptop, but I've upgraded to 98.

  • @Ishcoa And it still works?! How lucky! I miss Windows 95 and 98, and Id give anything to have anice looking laptop with Widows 98 in it. Wooohoo

  • I lol'ed at "secure"

  • @Segadude3000 compared to windows 95 it was far more secure.

  • I have a windows 98 laptop oh and today is febuary 3 2010 and its wensday

  • look how fat the "PC" laptops were compared to the PowerBooks at the time... they were fat pieces of junk back then!

  • soo thats why email takes so long to send.

  • I'd like to know what made 98 "secure". It might of been the average user's ignorance that kept that damn thing "secure", and nothing else.

  • Always hated Windows ads. For one, they cannot let go of the stupid four coloured square blocks. It's time to totally drop those four coloured blocks and the name Windows. Make a total drastic move.

  • no so apple shold lose the apple no its the way it works not the fancy commercials geez

  • pfffffffff now we have Windows 7

  • Isn't 98 a bigger number than 7? Hmm....

  • I mean the new microsoft W7

    (look on google!)

  • I know...I'm making fun of Window's silly naming scheme. ;-)

  • 98 1998 95 1995

  • I know that. I was making fun of Window's naming scheme.

  • but then isnt 2000 bigger than all

  • That's true! So Windows 2000 is the latest edition, right? :)

  • yup it must be =D

  • LOL!!! just as slow back then like today!!! Look how long it takes for that E-mail to get to that computer!!! JK, windows is cool and all that, but during the 90's, I preferred Linux and Mac (Unix) more; i just don't know why! D:!

  • 0:24 Look How f****** Fat That Laptop Is

  • That was before Apple made the ultra thin iBook laptop which all the competitors ripped off.

  • Cool i prefer apple laptops - magnetic chargers

  • Glad PCs don't have them, Apple invented it already XD

  • my favourite windows

  • This video was made on a mac.

  • this video was upload in 2006 woow really cool one of the first videos from youtube.

  • DVD was introduced in 1997 and was new back there then.

  • The disk said "DVD". Sure, windows 98 on a DVD.

  • There were DVDs available in 98 ? I ask seriously.

  • Comment removed

  • it comes with an externa scsi cdrom drive a 486dx2 66mhz a math co-processor,16 mb of ram, 600 mb hdd, 512kb video adapter VESA comptible (cirrus logic), and a super fast 14kbps modem, it runs games like doom, wolfenstein, dave2, skyroads. a and it cost about 3000 usd.

  • It make me laught, comments like my firs OS, Im 23 my firs OS was msdos and at school (elementary) we learn how to use the command line, then we get those IBM PS1 with windows 3.1, and for a long time we used that and was wonderfull then my dad bought an amazing compaq (with the screen atached to the cpu)

  • look the size of those laptops! =O ... nice!! I still have one Compaq xD

  • Aaah, 98 my first OS.

This brings back memories but it's nothing compared to the newest OSses.

  • i sorda miss my 98

  • Win98 was really a good OS.

  • i like the msDOS promo video better...

  • I use this everyday to play Counter Strike on with DX 6.1 way better then XP

  • Windows NT4 was the business edition of Windows 98. Windows 98 was based on MSDOS 7.1.

-Windows 98 was for at home use.

-Windows NT workstation was for on the desktop into the office

-Windows NT (BackOffice)Server was special for servers

  • since when was windows 98 a dvd and supported a dvsd player without extra software ?

  • @gamer931215 My first Win 98 had a built-in DVD-ROM and DVD playing software.

    FK

  • @gamer931215 It does. According the Windows 98 booklet..... And I use it on a 2004 computer with a DVD burner. It works with DVD's

  • @gamer931215 Windows 98 has dvd support built in to it from the begining.

  • @gamer931215

I think they started since 1995, I had a 95 computer, it had 2 drives one CD and one DVD

  • @gamer931215

We had a Windows 98 that i got in 1999 as a kid with a built in DVD player. You musta brought the cheaper version

  • W98 was NT technology? O_o enlighten me?

  • 0:44

michael jackson had a sex change???

  • Jesus, windows 98 wasn't that exciting..

  • Bill gates has weird humor.

  • Windows 98 in DVD??? As long as i know the first OS Microsoft was made on DVD Is Vista

  • Whoa, computers had DVD drives back in 1998?!

  • yes that was a bit strange(maybe the promotional is newer)

  • FAIL!

  • oh, i understand, email access?

  • lol at "Secure"

  • really cheesy

  • to appeal to a wider audience. The sexually obsessed are people too(in Microsoft's vision of things).

  • Whats with the 90 (and late 80s,I think) and using "tunnels of energy," to demonstrate any kind of program download/upload? -_-

  • That was one hell of a good vid' lol.

  • huh?! win 98 came on the dvd? i thought it was floppy.

  • win 95/plus came out on a CD :)

so 98 didnt came out on a floppy

  • i hate this shit. for me only GNU LINUX, !!!

  • yea!

  • I bet this was the best thing ever when it came out!!!

  • on windows, take out the dows and you get win! :)

  • the world is gonna end in the year 2000

  • makes me love my mac and xp even more after seeing the stupid attempt to make 98 that drove me to the brink of throwing my pc out the window as a kid, look cool. at least with xp, they really did make a warmer friendlier and actually functioning tool to work with.

  • Except... not.

  • Oh, win98 WAS pretty cool when it came out.

  • Are you kidding me?

They may look similar, but there are tons of new features in it, not to mention multiple accounts!

  • i agree except 95 did offer accounts

  • was this on windows 98 cd?

  • no it was not

  • I Loved 98 when i got it. IT was so NEW. I was 5 When i got win 98 se

  • Well, it's just a good thing Microsoft released a second edition, or 98 may have turned out like ME!

  • 'goddam windows 98, get bill gates in here!'

  • WTF, wierless internet and webtv in 98'?

  • ypu there is WebTv for WIndows 98 but i dont think its Supported anymore

  • @77Bandit

I don't know about wireless internet. But the Windows 98 my dad had had a DVD player, and a TV thing on it that you could use if you hooked up your antenna. You may or may not have needed a TV tuner card. I'm not sure what my dad did. However, i remember thinking it was cool because we only had one tv in the house, and now we could use the Windows 98 as a second tv. My sister and I would play downstairs with the Playstation, or watch cartoons while my dad would watch tv or a dvd on 98

  • I'm on server '03 at the min, but there's a perfectly good windows 98SE pc sitting right next to my server :)

  • I want Windows 98 now. I want it HARD.

  • Me too

  • yeah, its good

  • Every Microsoft promo video I've ever seen has been a total douchebag nerd fest.

  • Robust, Reliable, Portable... these are exactly the words one doesn't connect with Microsoft products. It's like with these car commercials which show beautiful nature and landscapes, i guess.

  • this commercial is emarrasing!

  • This is so overdone.

I don't recall it had text to speech ("message has been sent") built in like XP and Vista.

  • holy they had dvd drives in pcs when 98 came out

  • Well, yea. It was just very new.

  • Well, yea. It was just very new.

  • Yeh they did. I found a dvd from apple saying Apple confidential,

    1996.

  • no Windows ISN'T for everyone ..linux is for everyone ..windows costs alot ..linux is free..ubuntu even gives cd-s free of any charge with linux

  • hell just compare that O.S. with vista. and by the way, that ad seemed too exagerated, spy stuff.......

  • Just To Tell Everyone Windows 98 Was The Best Selling Operating System Ever. No One Has It Anymore But Still The Best Breakthrough In Computer History!

  • i do it sits in th attic exept its just a cd to download it actually its 98 SE

  • DragonTuTs, you are incorrect. First off, Windows 95 was the Best Selling OS of the 1990's. Secondly, Windows 98 was crap compared to Windows 98SE. Sorry, but it's true.

  • Windows 3.0 and DOS was!!! With out t3.0 there would not 3.1.x or Windows 9x!!!!

  • i still have a 3.1 computer it sits in my garage gathering dust

  • You can actually overwrite the disk and use it as a really dumb server.

  • Lmao, omg look at the size of that so called "laptop"

    O_O

  • yea

  • its huge

  • the size of a briefcase

  • look at 4minites 58 seconds is that not the imovie logo
