Go just that little bit further and support marriage equality. Send a message to the bullies that gay relationships are valued just as much by society as straight ones.
Gay "marriage" is important because of the legal aspect. In the event of the death of the partner, the surviving partner is the next of kin. Family members cannot challenge the will or the funeral arrangements. I think ultimately it is up to the Church to say if people can be married in a church, but it is up to the STATE to say that people can be married under the law. My partner and I would not have "married" in a church, but were partners in the eyes of the law. RIP BCL - forever in my heart.
