  • Another one: "Oh no, he's turning into Andy Kauffman!"

  • Here's my "MST3K-style" riff: "Brought to you by Viagra."

  • I remember this...! Was "Big John" really only 40 ? He looks 60! Or have we really extended life that much in only 35 years ? I am 41 in March !

  • Bloody hell! I thought I had DREAMT this show! It was my favourite programme!!

  • does any one remember time slip i cant find it on here

  • Golden years .

    Thanks

  • Big John has a problem,

    As you can plainly see,

    His TV show is crap.

  • Thought I was the only one who remembered this show. Thanks for posting it.

  • 0:12 Andy Kaufman? I grew up with this show back in the seventies, that was the golden era of crazy mind warping Saturday morning childhood shows.

  • And to think these "special effects" were done less than a year before Star Wars came out...

  • What BIG EYES you have 33 year old Big John.

  • Apparently the transition process involves a lot of blinking.

  • Yep, i remember that show. But he sure as hell doesn't look 40 ther..more like 60!!

  • @ramonski1 I know, I'm 40, he look old enough to be my dad....

  • I used to love this show!

    THANKS! :D

  • These days Big John would find himself on some 'list'

  • big john - real life bill dauterive

  • @CommunieNetwork In real life children grow to adults and do not revert.

  • So..

Stan Zbornak drinks from the fountain of youth & turns into...

the fat faced kid from Two & a Half Men.

  • A grown man who turns into a child when he gets wet...um...yeah...

  • Sherwood Schwartz passed away recently, but I can still ask without guilt, when has that name EVER been associated with QUALITY,on any level? As usual, sympathy goes out to the cast.

  • Sherwood Schwartz passed away recently, but I can still ask without guilt, when has that name EVER been associated with QUALITY,on any level? As usual, sympathy goes out to the cast.

  • Those eyes! Jeeez! I remember having nightmares about those freaky eyes!!!!

  • hes 40....fuck me im 40 an i dont look that old.....kids downs lookin 2

  • Isn't that Cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch as "Little John?"

  • Dang, I think remember seeing this intro when I was a kid, but I never really was interested in seeing the show.

  • john used to have down's syndrome at age 12

  • @illuminatioracle You don't know shit. I bet you were a real prize then, too.

  • I was about seven years old when this was shown in the UK, and even then, the kid who played 'little john' used to get on my nerves

  • I was about seven years old when this was shown in the UK, and even then, the kid who played 'little john' used to get on my tits.

  • He looked like THAT at 40? Thats sad. BTW this was one of the worst shows ever in the 70s...next to Lidsville.

  • Jesus Christ...

  • I used to watch this too ...lol

  • I USED TO LOVE TO WATCH THIS SHOW BACK IN 1976!

  • wow, this thing is fucking nightmarish...

  • Probably the most memorable part of this oldie is the catchy theme song!

  • I used to like this show when it aired in the UK. Looking at it now though, it looks a load of crap!!!!

  • How come 40 year olds look like 60 year olds now?

  • How come he becomes jewish @ around 23?

  • any clips ?

  • why is it sherwood schwartz had the corniest shows on TV? well, i guess a LOT of producers would love to have that kind of lasting effect on television!

  • @ivegotalongdong I think Sherwood Schwartz came up with most of his ideas in his sleep, thinking they would make him money (how about this idea for a show, yeah--that's the ticket!) These are the sort of things on TV that would later be lampooned by Matt Groening on The Simpsons (remember the concept for a show where grandpa Simpson got lost on his way to heaven? I'm surprised Schwartz didn't think of that idea first!)

  • Cousin Oliver killled the Brady Bunch!

  • @lincbond442 Uh I think it was already swaying on the breeze just waiting to be cut down. Oliver just happened to be there at the time.

  • They look NOTHING like each other!!! Big John also has a massive nose (KONK)!!

  • Jeez! That looks like a hunk of crap, especially since that fat faced bullet head kid who looks like someone microwaved John Denver too long is in it. He was the one that destroyed the Brady Bunch around this same time.

  • By my reckoning big john is now in his mid to late seventies and little john in his mid forties

  • NO one ever mentions this show! I loved it when I was 7! How about Monster Squad?!

  • NO one ever mentions this show! I loved it when I was 7!

  • Vibraslap FTW

  • Holy crap! Is "Big John" really "Stan" from Golden Girls? (Kinda disturbing that I would even ask that question now that I think about it...)

  • @:12, looks like Andy Kaufman

  • @ThreeCatsScratching Oh, sure do!

  • Love your youtube chan, got some good 70's vids myself RobRobintv!

  • i like this cool tv seris even the magic skit idea too is this oliver from the brady bunch jaws skit?

  • @billpage That is indeed Robbie Rist who was cousin Oliver from The Brady Bunch fame

  • Magic Water, eh ?

  • What the Fuuuuuuuuuck???

  • @mwillblade: Only because your infantile mind can only find pleasure in spouting off sex-based comments such as yours... idiot.

  • @bertiedump --whatever were you doing while you were watching this? Perv! ;)

  • I used to love this show as a kid but it seems most people don't remember it.

  • @TrikkyMakk i remember this thing

  • jeramy klye "well that mature" dick chav " i'll go mature in a minute" shitest comeback ever thumbs up if u agree

  • Why does the little kid looks like he's being molested ?

  • Heap of american shit.

  • @claysonsdad LOL!

  • For those who say that today's TV is never as good as it was in the old days, here's proof that we had crap back then, too.

  • I remember the song and the starting but not the premise. No surprise then when watching The Golden Girls years later I DIDN'T say, 'Hey look, there's Big John!'

  • I watched this show back then as a kid too. This is the first time I have seen the intro since then.

  • what a wonderful super power: he can transform into an obese kid!

  • American Saturday morning television in the mid to late 1970's (all three networks) was and still is some of the most avant garde programming in the history of the television. A Golden Age that we will never see again!

  • The little kid is Jack Black long ago.

  • @PupuTheClown I seem to remember that "Little John" was also the cousin on "Brady Bunch"?

  • yeah Big John looks like a 56 year old wop,,lol

  • One thing I noticed is that NBC didn't really go along with Peggy Charren's school - on - Saturday agenda as much as the other networks. They'd have the occasional PSA about eating fruit & vegatables, but they didn't (as far as I know) have shows that were infiltrated with lessons.

  • Saturday morning TV pumped out bad shows like this. Someone actually thought this was a good idea.

  • man i was about 7 years old living in london when i first saw this turn back time and do it all again xxxxx

  • I don't think cousin Oliver on the Brady Bunch was really a blonde!

  • I used to LOVE this show as a kid!

Yeah, it's cheesy but that's part of what makes it so dear to my heart!

  • Downs Syndrome kid at 0:24

  • @AngelsSuckBalls thats oliver from the brady bunch

  • and there I was thinking it was about two different sized Toilets in these blokes houses?

  • and there I was thinking it was about two different sized Toilets in these blokes houses?

  • I loved this show when I was a little kid in the 1970s. I remember Mrs. Bottomly and thinking that she should change her name.

  • I vividly remember this show and loved it as a little kid in the 1970s. Great memories.

  • Little John/Big John is a motherfucking warmongering, burger and fries eating dullard who has bought into Mum's apple pie.

  • I watched this as a kid in the UK too. No one here in the states has heard of it. Where is is from, Canada?

  • oliver from the bready bunch. LOL least he stop that

  • Oh no! It's cousin Oliver from the Brady Bunch!

  • That bowl haircutt is Evil! I has one back then, taken 35 years to get over it!

  • BIG jOHN appeared to look OLDER THAN 40 here! I always wonder why US TV insults the viewers intelligence and casts older in younger pretending that we don't notice.

  • @XMARINEmax I was six when I saw the show in England, and the age of forty seemed prehistoric to me. Now I'm only a few months off being forty myself, I look at this and think I'm not doing too badly!

  • He actually was 43 there. His lack of hair made him look quite older.

  • Sherwood Schwartz? the creator of both Gilligan's Island and The Brady Bunch? How cheesy could he be? 'nuff said!

  • I would watch this show on Saturday mornings with my dog by my side and a big bowl of Quisp cereal.

  • best song <3

  • This was a great show when I was a kid...now, it just seems so cheesy but is still special in my heart.

  • funny

  • I wonder if big John groped himself as little John. Now, I have to go to the John.

  • lol hahahahaha or if he ever was fingering his young girlfriend and then turned back into big john hahahaha get him on the sex offenders register. so many great potential storylines. not like the shit they churned out.

  • @locorojo25 I cannot stop laughing at what you wrote!

  • @locorojo25 I cannot stop laughing at what you wrote!

  • @hairyhole123 its coming to dvd 2010

  • I saw this as a kid in 1977 on BBC1 in the UK.

  • @AnonInEng On this side of the Atlantic, (United States) was on NBC 1976-77.

  • @AnonInEng ME 2 lol

  • I remember most kids on TV in the 70s had freckles. You dont see freckly kids that much anymore.

  • used to be cute, now theyre airbrushed off. look at lindsay lohan when she was a kid, freckly wee shite she was.

  • Yep. Kids all seem to have to look like grown-ups by the time they're about 12, these days.

  • trust Australia to get it 10 years after the rest of us!

  • @bergamotty

yeah, we used to always get american things quite late in australia. including ads. the result was that i grew up thinking of the u.s. as ten years behind the rest of the world in fashions of all kinds!

then i moved here and found out it wasn't true (except for their ancient old bomby cars!) ^^

  • trust Australia to get it 10 years later than the rest of us, big j and little j love it!

  • loved thjis show. too bad robbie tist's career was like little john and shrunk away

  • loved this show when it was on seems like it was only yesterday

  • Gosh where was I when this show was on? I grew up watching all the 70's Saturday morning shows but don't recall this one at all.... anyhow thanks for posting, I love all these old shows and remembering the times.

  • Hey, I know how we can save money. We can use screen test footage during the opening credits.

  • Rist is one ugly dude!

  • at 0:11 is that andy kauffman

  • I thought that too! Don't know though and they're hardly going to name "Medium John" in the credits! :o)

  • @joemac5367 "Medium John" would probely be "Collage,Pot-smokin,anti-establishment, Counter-culture Hippie John

  • Thank you! I had remembered this show from when I was a kid, but I have never met anyone who has even heard of it, over the years I started to wonder if I had made it up, they played it here in Australia in about 80 or 81, good to know it actually existed

  • Dont drink the water Big John : )

  • Robbie Rist- the kid who destroyed The Brady Bunch

  • Robbie Rist didn't destroy the Brady Bunch. That show was on its last legs when he arrived. Cast members admitted that. "Sanford and Son" was killing them in the ratings Friday nights, and Schwartz told ABC he didn't want Robert Reed back as Mike Brady. Rist just happen to arrive at the worst time.

  • Downs Syndrome retard at 0:23

  • ha ha --bro ,i burst out laughing when i read your post.........

  • Was that Mark Linn Baker, who would play Larry on "Perfect Stranger" as John in his twenties?

  • Big johnson little johnson, sounds a bit suspect, or did I missread the title? nearly as bad as that other 1970's perverted show about that well endowed grisley bear, genital Ben.

  • @stacksovids12 Your post really did make me laugh out loud.

  • Woah! Thanks! I had completely forgotten this haha! Used to love it!

  • NOOOOOOOO!!!!! I though I had dreamed this in a childhood nightmare, the chmaltzy tune, the crappy tells a story lyrics reminiscent of the Beverly hillbillies, and that horrendous kid with the bowl haircut and the piggy eyes, looking from side to side in unconvincing surprise, and now you have rekindled the memory, your evil!!

  • The dvd is coming out in October.

  • WOW! I was like 9 years old when I saw this! Great memories! Thanks!

  • ssaz

  • How he transformed into a 12-year-old gentile ALWAYS confounded me.

  • Little John looks like he has Downs Syndrome....

  • is this Stan from the Golden Girls?

  • Yes it is!

  • Thanx ive not seen this since the 70s when i wa a lad heheheehe odd program it was too..

  • i was 7-8 years old watching this. i remember it really 'freaking' me out.

  • wasn he who played stan zbornack in the Golden girls???

  • Yes, correct! He did!

  • Joyce Bulifant was originally on the TV show, "Flo". In addition to "Match Game", she also appeared on "Password Plus", "The Riddlers", "Mindbenders", "Beat the Clock '79", "$20,000 Pyramid", "Tattletales", and other 70's and 80's game shows.

  • I remember watching this show when I was only nine years old!!!!!! Is there anyway of getting some of the shows!!!!!

  • Yeah, but now even Little John is 40. :D

  • Thanx for posting the opening and closing credits to "Big John Little John". I really enjoyed watching this on Saturday mornings.

  • bj and lj both look like Jackie Coogan!! and 25 yo John is hot!

  • The theme music sounds like a supermarket tune!

  • is andy kaufman one of the faces 0.11?

  • Where did the years go? When I first watched this show, I was Little John riding a bike with a banana seat. Now, I'm Big John in the morning commute.

  • hey that kid was cousin Oliver from the Brady bunch.

  • just thought i'd type in big john little john, not thinking for a minute it would be on here, but great it is..I remember this so well, I was about 6 when i used to watch it..Thanks for uploading this

  • Not seen that since I was a little kid myself!! Cool!

  • I had completely forgotten this show even existed! Talk about a blast from the past! lol

  • It's hit me too! Used to be on alot in the UK, but haven't seen it for 35 years or so.

Funny how humans are the only creatures to evolve in their own lifetime; being completely unrecognisable from children. Saying that, the look of the eyes never changes and some things like a walk or a way of speech, give them away.

  • Glad to have finally stumbled across this. I remembered the tune and the premise behind the show, but not its name. I haven't come across it anywhere else on the 'net.

  • Cracking me up! The reasom I'm able to remember all these shows and research them is the theme songs - this one, Wonderbug, Dr. Shrinker, Electra Woman and Dynagirl...these were all part of the same morning show I think?

  • @mikeadk I remember all those shows. Especeilt "Electra Woman", shame she went down the career ladder playing in a soap opera.
