Dont use the table saw if your scared of it. That in itself is very dangerous. You're standing off to the side because your scared of kickback... buts its more likely to kick back if you're not behind it. If I were you I'd learn what causes kickback and how to avoid it. Make sure you know everything about your tools before you use them. Happy woodworking.
Make yourself an 'out-feed table', same height as the saw table. Then finished stuff doesn't drop on the deck and get damaged.. Keep to the left of the blade as you did here, and you should be okay with all the other advice. (Oh yes... Always use a sharp blade. Also it looks like you have a rip blade on your mitre-saw, which cross-cuts. Get a cross-cut blade which gives a cleaner and finer cut.
everything was good but the only thing i saw that was wrong was you held only one side of the board usually you want to hold bolth sides so it stays against the fence with another push stick if its really small but always use a splitter so it doesnt kick back
Hey, it's good that you're into woodworking it's a great hobby but do yourself a favor and learn or read books on machine safety. If you've had 2 accidents already.... that's not good at all. Know your machines limitations and your. Have fun and please BE CAREFULL.
Lanse, good vid. You should either with metal or wood make a frame to go between the table saw and the stand to raise it up to more of a comfortable work level. This will be easier on your back while working and a little safer on your manhood in the event that you get a board kick back (:
Stand on the other side of your rip fence when you use your table saw. Use your left hand with your push stick and if it does kick back you can let go and duck. Seriously man you will get hurt again. I have boards kick up all the time and they just wizz right by. Your camera is awesome, and I am jealous of your nice basement shop!
You never get time to duck... At least I didn't. Fortunately it missed me. So I stand to the left and use my good hand to push the stick. MAtter of choice I guess.
Kudos for keeping the safety guards on the saw. After hearing how much you paid for that sliver of hardwood that you consider using your local hardwood supplier instead of the big box stores. You would be amazed at the price difference.
being scared is the most dangerous way to work id be real carefull till you get some confindence

Not a good idea to wear gloves while working with a tableasw. If you need to wear them get tight fitting ones, like a second skin.
