@atziette - He had a massive brain haemorrhage back in September 1994 and spent 15 months in hospital but he learning to walk and talk again and has even co wrote another song :o)
he has been around for years and never gotten the recognition he deserves. delbert mcclinton has recorded lots of the same songs. frankie is fantastic. he has had a stroke and is still recovering.
holy shit that guy's got a voice! How is it his only big hit was Darlin. He shits on rod stewart from a BIG height and I'm sure rod stewart wouldn't mind me saying that.
you are right there always knew frankie was special with a a voice like that at such a young age and dont forget his writeing ability he is the man no doubt about it great to have knowen him and he is a singers singer a true talent and its a sad loss to music keep on penning those lyrics frankie
You Mean Big Andy cracking guy. Frankie always made time for the weans when I was wee . Loved to sit on the back steps n play his guitar and sing now that was a real treat the guy is a legend . great voice and he could make any song sound good. Thanks for posting these vids
I have followed Frankie from the middle 70s as I used to work with his now ex brother in law, and he was brilliant live, the concert in Glasgow city halls in 1978 was great with his best pal the big yin (Billy Connolly) in attendance. He fell ill in 1994 and was in a coma but he managed to battle back but can no longer perform his skills. He was always at war with his record company over musical differences and this contributed to less exposure, He was better thought of in USA than uk
Nice one man, I gotta thank you for your contribution to Frankie's music, one of the best on youtube without a doubt.
please view, enjoy and comment on my two latest additions, "The Rose" and Baton Rouge", both from the "Long way Home " album...... spread the word... cheers
this guy would have been massive but for the cruel illness that stopped him ...he's even a great actor...watch "just a boy's game" a bbc play for today...he was cool ...if you're reading this Frankie...I don't think there's a better singer around even today...you have soul ...timing ...feel .....STAR!!!!!
i just watched "just a boys game" a few days ago and i have not seen it since i was 14. watched on tv in greenock ,where much of it was filmed. frankie is a great singer and he cn act too.
i met frankie once and what a cool down to earth guy, the guy is amazing makes me proud to be scottish and even prouder to have grown up where he did they should put up a statue to the guy.
I could listen to Frankie day in day out, Otis has got to be lookin over his shoulder Frankie. The voice is untouchable mate. God bless and take care.
Frankie and 70's Rod Stewart are the best British vocals, the keyboardplayer is also so fine, what a great singer Frankie is, saw him doing this in Rotterdam Holland, and never forgot it, good to se it back on the tube
God Bless Frankie. He's been a favourite of mine for over thirty years. He and Paul Rodgers were the finest two British singers of their generation. Thanks for posting this.

It's said that Otis Redding's mother cried when she heard Frankie's voice after Otis had died because he sounded so similar. What a compliment.
