Anyway, at evasiveness, you're losing a lot of the magic. He talks about "double face" right before that, and he's referencing that picture where it's either two faces or a vase. Took me a while to get that one.
Yeah, we didn't fight this one too much. Even though it's a student project and transformative, it does use the complete song and that potentially cuts into the benefits the Flobots should enjoy with their copyright.
Cool idea you had to enjoy it the way it was intended to be seen, however.
alrite, i had windows media player in the background with the enternet setup next to it. i pressed P on the keyboard then dashed my mouse to youtube and clicked the video so that the song would play to it. and i gotta say, this was awsome! verry good job. i wish it would be easier to watch though xD
You can use it if your a school. Just contact them back and tell them that you're a school. Generally speaking, though, Youtube epicly fails when it comes to understanding copyright law.
F FL FLO FLOB FLOBO copy n' paste if you have FLOBOT respect for flobots FLOBOTS FLOBOT FLOBO FLOB FLO FL F and by the way I dont believe That satan and his army will come to earth in 2012 and if anyone knew this you think god would let all of us suffer he will come first cause I fear god and not satan cause as long as I am a man of god I know I am safe So copy and paste if you agree. . . . . . .
3. if you stop some of the videos at the point where you see the frame full of words, that's the final 'field' of text. students create this a variety of ways (Adobe Illustrator for instance). Words sit on different tracks, invisible until the playhead hits them. If you were to look at a timeline, it would look kind of like a staircase, with the words staggered in time.
If you want to see a cool use of camera and text, google the web video series 'Drawn by Pain' and look at their promo video.
the typography projects from Amanda Kern's class were done in Flash, you'll learn the concepts and software to create these types of projects in
Fundamentals of Typography, and
Fundamentals of Interactive Design
As far as some of the software 'tricks' used in the projects, one includes creating a field of text in a frame and then revealing the design one word at a time as the song progresses.
I'd search for online tutorials with keywords. 'motion typography tutorials'
a visitor called eladbari has asked about these project, whether tutorials exist for them, whether After Effects or Flash is better to create them and what classes these came from. My answers are posted in my next two comments on this video. (darn that 500 character limit).
I really like the consistent beat and how the words play on that. This is awesome! I also like how you use color to change the mood of the song/lyrics. Never knew color had so much rhythm. Great Job!
Erf three times the same com and I can't delete... sorry about that... (better more than not enough :p)

Two windows, a little timing, no problems.

Wow, this is really good. Are they just doing this in FCP nd LiveType or also Motion?
MacintechStudios 3 years ago
This was a combination of LiveType, Motion and Final Cut. I believe John used Final Cut as the final compositing software.
