Hey, I really really ant to show my full appreciation for this video, at least in text. It's people like you who help musicians grow out of the shell. I've been playing nearly for three years and I can say I'm a good guitarist, but this is my entry to the folk world, thanks to Kristian too. So, I salute you and give you my deepest, sincere thanks. Peace.
Heeey thank you so much ... I figured it out pretty quick , I think the problem with some of those who don't get it is that when you tr to explain it slow you kind of play it in another rythm than the basic melody :)
One question only how long took you to have the right speed ???
I completely understand everything you do up until 1:33, when you start playing the actual song. It does not sound like you are playing the same thing.
The last string I hear before you repeat (the "4&" moment) is the 2nd string, but according to your diagram it should be the 3rd string. If I play the left hand the way you have diagrammed this out it doesn't sound right :*(
I am committed to learning this song! Please help!
@marchez87 Yeah I think parts of the chorus use the ring finger and he also has those little fills that he chucks in around the basic verse picking pattern I've shown here. Sadly I've never taken the time to try and figure them out, i just play a simplified version. A guy called ablairify plays a really great version, see if you can see what he is doing ;)
thank you. for some time now I've been trying to figure out this kind of alternate bass picking, and the way you showed it, slowed down and all (and the picking diagram), has helped a lot. feels like i got small key in a zelda dungeon (not the boss key though).
@professorbananas Hey professor, I promise that it is possible to do this without a tab. It took me many hours of playing the pattern before it felt easy. Persistence and practice is the key.
Have a look at the pattern in the description. Count out loud very slowly. Make sure you pluck the correct string with the correct finger and repeat until it becomes comfortable. Then speed up a bit and repeat. Keep doing this until you get fast.
cougarman or rocklobster will help with the left hand.
This might be a little greedy(apologies), but could you do one for drying of the lawns? I've been trying to learn it for the. past four weeks and have only gotten the intro down.(which not surprisingly is real easy)
