I went off and checked out the other video you suggested Fiona, such an inspiration you ladies are. I have just completed my first ever basic mini album after watching how you did this. I am so pleased and will pop a photo or two up on its progress as soon as I can, I cant wait to start decorating it now. Thanks again for your helpful video :O) Juli
Thank you so much for this amazing video. I would never have attempted this before seeing your demo, you have made it so easy to follow ( she says, as I haven't actually tried it yet.. lol ) but I am going to attempt this one for sure. I have been struggling with a mini I wanted to make and this has made it all a lot clearer. Thank you Fiona for your brilliant video.
Fiona - thank you so much for making this SO quick and easy. I don't post videos but I did take your "challenge" to share what we've made, and posted it on my blog (ArtsySusan dot blogspot dot com), with a link back to your video. I did a few things differently - made it smaller, and added space between the covers and the pockets. And I left off the chipboard spine cover - couldn't get the darn pockets to lay flat. I posted all the dimensions I used for my version. Anyway - thanks again!
@ArtsySusan I saw your post on the blog but I don't know how to comment, so I will just have to say from here that I think you did an awesome job and I can't wait to see your album finished! Thanks for the shout out :) xx Fi
Hi, I'm glad I checked around because here I was thinking that I was so clever that I came up with a new binding method the other night but then I see this and it's almost the exact same. So you were clever before me - LOL. I'm glad it's already out there though but this video stole my thunder, ha ha. I prefer the neater mini's that don't pop open so much and this binding method is the answer to that, good job :o)
@InsideOutInspection Not sure if Cathy Orta didn't start this type of binding of books! I know there has been several ladies that have done similar, I thought by showing how I would do it would be a little simpler for newbies etc x
@bluucaca Yep, I'm working on using the folded technique for things OTHER than a book binder lol. Me thinks it can be used for several different ideas beside binding a book! x
i can see now where i was going wrong, it was my folding i wasnt getting little tunnels at the back like yours......iv made the envelopes, where going to have fun on the covers fiona. lol lol xxxx
help help help!! i bet your ears are burning at the moment. iv got myself in a right tizz with the binding. i think iv got it now but it was out of luck. what a pigs ear i made of it. lol everytime you was saying its simple or its easy, i was shouting no fiona its not. lol lol i need practise and practise if im to make any more, which im hoping too. hugs gina xxxxxxx
Great tutorial Fi, have seen Anne's too. Will be having a go. Your video is much easier to understand I got a bit confused on Anne's but she did do an awsome job.
@Paganmaiden I've been following Anne's mini and its awesome and I'm doing hers for a friend of mine in the style of 'The Lion, The Witch and Wardrobe'. x
Hi Fiona! What a great idea and tutorial!Thank you for being so generous with your talent and sharing your clever ideas with us.Of all the attributes that you possess,I think the one that serves you the best is your unselfishness. You are an encourager and a cheerleader for all who have sat and wondered,"Could I do that myself?"There is so much joy in the creative process, even in the mistakes we make. You give us permission to laugh at ourselves and keep trying.TY sweet Fiona.Iris, Saved by Grace
@irisshubert Your so sweet Iris, ANYONE can achieve anything by having a go, it sometimes just takes someone to encourage and to SHOW you how to achieve it :) xx
@nightangel0515 What a compliment! Thank you. If ever I find anything that I think someone else may find difficult, I will always, always try and make it more simple to follow. I do think that some of the great crafters forget that a newbie and a less confident crafter need that extra help or push and therefore I'm here to step in and do just that lol lol x
Well Fiona, have spent quite a while over the weekend having a go at this for my first mini and you come up with a brilliant tutorial!! How brilliant are you!! So easy to follow. I hadn't got my chipboard piece quite right on the spine so thanks for showing this. It will be covered in lace from guess who lol.
I have seen other tutorials for this and this is the best, great tutorial and easy to understand! I wish I had seen this before I started the project I am working on now.
@xannero1 Anne you say the sweetest things my friend, I just wanted to show how easy it is to do this technique and of course I know you are showing a COMPLETE mini. I sure hope that others will nip along and see your fabulous tut on how to make YOUR design. I've just watched part two, AWESOME technique and heaps of space to journal etc. I may try YOUR way as I have an idea for a friends mini seeing yours now lol lol. Hugs Fi xx
Brilliant tutorial Fiona, I have watched lots of videos on how to make a mini album using this technique and this to me is by far the easiest method. I did not have the confidence to try making a mini album this way I might actually try it now! Tfs, Janet
@janstok011 Thank you Janet, your so sweet lady :). I have emailed you earlier, are you getting my emails? Hope so, and thank you for still wanting the kit :) xx
fiona im loving this, your way is so much easier than other demos iv seen. you really explain things for us. will you be showing us how you do the chipboard cover? i hope so, thanks fiona once again for a fabulous demo. hugs gin xxxxxxx
@dottygin You can see how to do the cover in another video, type in book cover and my name and it should come up, its the same technique only a different shape!!! Let me know if you can't find it please xx
@ohhowcutebycyn I do design my own paper and on some of the orginal tags I did way back I explain that I did the papers as folk thought I had bought them and they wanted to buy same lol :) xx
