I find it ironic that the pope sees the abolition of slavery as an ethical progression when the Bible has NOTHING what so ever to say against the practice of human ownership!

Faith and reason goes hand in hand where one's faith will guide his reason and one's reason will support his faith (this of course only goes in the case that you are learned in metaphysics and other methods of philosophy, most crucially the first principles and the five proofs).

@amlbrooks93 Faith cannot be reasoned out simply because the believe in a super natural being can appear from nothing in the beginning, preached peace yet ordered the countless slaughter of millions, to send a martyr son in order to save people from "their" sins, to then let the kings and queens of the dark ages to kill everyone in the name of said son, to then at a point now to divide humans among different religious orders. Reasonable?

@Brendan1246 I have to agree with you there as there has been a lot of corruption in the catholic church over years, but still, where isn't there corruption? Yet, the church remains steadfast and strong in its faith and doctrine where other instituations would quickly crumble after enduring such corruption and tyrannic reign.
