Of all the Vince Gill duets that I have listened to so far, this one is far and away my favourite of many masterpiece ballads. These two voices together, in this song, deliver a downright religious experience whose effect just won't quit.

this is so gorgeous - is it available on any cd ? I just love it - I have a lot of the Patty Loveless cassettes and a few LP's and a handful of cd's but now I want them all in a format that I will actually be able to use - casettes wear out and LP's -well , they are nice but not portable . I am really having a Patty Loveless lovefest these past few days - on a mission to buy all her stuff : )

Do you think most of the new country singers will have a song that will be remembered like the ones these two and others have done. It's not about the dollars with them. Now most singers only want to sing loud and with a crappy fake drawl to make the bucks. It's not a good song unless someone will remember it in five, ten or more years. It's not to late to change the path.

There are only a few that still get a lot of airplay from just a decade ago, let alone artist from the eighties and earlier. I understand the reason...because the younger people are the ones buying CD's and downloads, but man are they missing out. No disrespect but I'm pretty sure Jason Aldean and Taylor Swift could not pull this song off.

I remember watching this live, and I had never heard an audience respond to a performance at this particular awards show. But brother, when Vince and Patty unleashed those powerful harmonies, the sleepy audience became wide awake and couldn't help but get excited and applaud, yell and whistle long before the song was over. This duo is absolutely amazing, and I'm shocked and saddened that they never released a full album of duets. It could have been a masterpiece of impressive talent and class.

I've watched both of these incredibly gifted people through their careers and I'd have to guess they were BOTH at the top of their game in this performance. When Patty comes in with, as Vince says, "that pure eastern Kentucky voice", I just get goosebumps as a backup singer myself. Power and sweetness at the same time. She's a truly gifted giant. Let's be thankful it all happened.
