  • Cool video :]

  • this song blows my mind. every time i hear it i weep tears of joy and praise!! what a gift from God...can't wait to meet him one day!

  • I was 15 when my youth pastor handed me a burned CD. "Satellite Sky". I thought that this is what Heaven sounded like. One day I will be there, and Mark will greet me with a mandolin and a melodic tune.

  • A true Christian humanitarian, is this possible? only the good die young, I miss your insight but not your legacy St Mark.

  • I first was introduced to Mark Heard through the Lightmusic Christian video show, sadly it was posthumously.Mark is one of the most brilliant songwriters and had such a great command of the English language. This song and video are simply superb.I would have loved to have met him and to have attended one of his concerts.Hopefully in the afterlife....

  • All of Mark Heard's songs are amazing, and this is one of the most amazing.

  • Brilliant song

  • I have been thinking about this song since Jordan Rice passed away after telling the rescuers to "take me brother first". The saints of God are the treasure of the broken land and I believe Jordan had to have been such. I hope John and his surviving sons can wait for that day when they will be reunited with God.

  • Hi all Mark fans, Bruce Cocburn did a tribute to Mark's song..Strong Hand of Love...on the CD Tribute To Mark Heard.I didn't have the chance to see Mark perform live but ,will see him in Heaven God Bless Linda Pothiers

  • Mark Heard.... this man was a legend and still is and this beautiful song moves me to tears every time i hear it, a beautifully lyriced song and lovely tune.

this song makes me think about Mark's poor family who lost him far to soon, but he is singing praises in heaven so who can begrudge him that. i just wish he could of been round longer.

im 22 and absolutely adore his music.

    Love you Mark xx

  • Mark had some absolutely great songs, this is obviously one of his best. But the one that seems to alway get me besides this one is I Want You, an older one. Also Crying Again, also off one of his earliest CDs. Listen to these if you have not, but it really seems like anytime I play his stuff God finds a way to hit me upside the head with something I really need to hear. Like Rich Mullins, God had a special musical messanger in Mark Heard.

  • My Acoustic Duo partner of 10 years recently passed away at 49. I sang this song at his memorial concert and made people cry. I hope He and John Mark Heard were listening in and praying for me in Heaven. I am here, they are there. Does my head in. One day this temporary world will pass away, replaced by a Kingdom I can not really conceive of, but this present world will be like a bad dream I can not remember. C'mon big-fella and blow that horn. RIP Steve Ashworth Bartels. I miss u man. alex

  • This is my favorite song of all time. The lyrics are amazing and gets me every time.

  • If Im not mistaken...thats Michael Been from the Call at the control board at 2:35 ... great song....

  • Hey, thanks for this post. I was really blessed by it. I believe it shows his wife and daughter (what a cutie she is too). I do miss him and his music. This vid made me feel as though I new him better, though just met him once and a small white Lutheran church where he did a concert in Elmhurst, IL. back in the late 80's or so. Glad I had that opportunity to see him in such a small and imtimate venue. :)

  • Thanks for putting this up. EXCELLENT song. This one is in the stratosphere for me. Possibly Mark Heard's finest tune - and that's saying something!

  • Great song! And nice to see Michael Been in there, too!

  • LOVE it!!

  • I think this is the Mark Heard song that touches me the most. Sometimes when I hear it the lyrics sneak up on me and I find myself weeping. "Wailing wind of Gabriel, blow soon upon the hollow bones." Amen.

  • RIP sweet Mark Heard. We Miss you. We need you to reach us.

  • I purchaced Marks compilation release that came out in I think 1992 after his deth. This song is on the second side last track of the cassette. It goes on for some 6 minutes. It's very cool in it's entirity. If you haven't heard it, you must.

  • It is eerie isnt it...sometimes things are here but unseen.

  • what kind of friend?...a good one

  • Is it me, or is someone else in agreement that this is a prophetic view of the 9-11 attack? It blew me away when I watched this video for the first time a few months away. This view comes from a man who did not live to literally see the actual event, but who was able to pre see it before anybody else...Truly a last days prophet a la par with the beloved Keith Greene...

  • This video is amazing. His songwriting is phenomenal. I'm gonna have to get more of his music and read his biography. This song started it all, about a year ago when I heard it covered. Now hearing the original is crazy.

  • Mark Heard is one of my most admired songwriters and performers. I never got the opportunity to see him live. [Sigh]. "Treasure of the Broken Land" is my favorite MH song. Sometimes it makes me cry because it reminds me of my father who passed away in 1999. "You voice sounds just like it used to. I know better now than I knew you then. All I can say is I love you." One of these days Gabriel is going to blow his horn. Blow soon, Gabe, blow soon.

  • This song blew me away the first time I heard it and it still blows me away today. He was really overlooked by both the "Christian" media and mainstream media. There will never be anyone else like him.

I pray his wife and daughter are well.

  • Thank you for posting -- Mark was certainly one of the great songwriters. I saw him perform and met him once -- will never forget him.

  • Thank you so much for sharing. Great lyricist. One of my favorite artists. I want more.

  • Really wonderful. Thanks for posting this. Mark was one of a kind. Saw him perform a few times. Really funny and engaging. Hard to believe it's been 15 years since his passing. Are there more where this came from?

  • My Dad knew Mark Heard and I barely remember watching this video when I was very little. I remember I really liked the skulls.
