These young hearts have something this world and maybe you could never get through all eternity."
The video was to had been part of a series showing how facial expressions can be used identify strong beliefs. (I'm sure you'd of noticed the "Donny Osmond smile" on the face of callers to your front door who are "spreading the good news of their kingdom"?) These people know and are so absolutely sure they are doing the will of god, that god will definately reward them with eternal life on paradise. It's also a cardinal sin for them not to share this good news of their kingdom.
holyfaith wrote: "Have you made your final choice?"
I answer as honestly as I can...
We all make choices in our lives. But sometimes the choice we make is limited by the road we have taken (i.e. the deluded person thinking they have better chance of winning the lottery jackpot, because of how much they'd spent on tickets). I try in my life to keep my options open, to look out for alternatives to the way we live, to make the best of life and be benevolant to fellow humans, as I expect to me.
Someone I remember from the past coming back...their arranged marriage was to be for all eternity and a day, their children were destined to repopulate a restored earthly paradise. They were special children (but in real life they did have a 'superiority complex') I think the earth's restoration by god was all to had started around the 1980's based in Korea. After that, the family went very very reclusive. Their kids must be married off by now with their own. Life goes on.... :-)
holyfaith wrote: "From the looks of your life, seems you have"
Yes, I agree with you saying 'it seems' :-) It's very difficult to assess what is really going on in real life by what you see on a TV screen. Everything you see on a TV or radio is presented so out of context with real life, that if you make your view of the world this way you can easily end up like Jonestown (they thought America was in civil war in 1978). And David Koresh Waco Texas, they thought the world was ending, poor lot
It's been difficult for you to assess what is going on in cults because you get your info from TV, videos, news? Go to the cults and ask to live there awhile. If your motive is pure you can do that, and of course, you won't be brainwashed or hurt in any way.
Do you think maybe getting a balanced view of what is actually going on across the world is difficult, when most of the information you get is via TV / news media?
Not to mention could be highly dangerous. I read, researched, and yes watched news/tv about many cults. I don't think media got it wrong on Manson. Jones. Heavens Gate.We saw the Koresh cult burn live on TV, 21 children were not allowed to leave a burning building.I am sorry if it involves a body count its wrong.Especially children put in harms way.Mainstream media doesn't always get it.Investigative reporting when research is done, victims, survivors can tell their story, can be evidence enough.
Tell you about beliefs? Doesn't everyone have beliefs? How can you insinuate that one's beliefs are false unless that comes from your own belief?
And if you are a free-willed being with beliefs, why would you attempt to bring down the beliefs of another free-willed being?
I want you to believe in whatever you are "devoted" to. Most people just play the tapes in their head over and over, even though there is one sure foundation of truth in Christ. Makes no sense, but iniquity never did.
It all boils down to that is a human right for anyone to believe whatever they want to believe, even if that belief appears to be doing them harm. It is a dilemma. Please look at my other video '...is still evolving'. In it are more genuine people, who are so absolutely convinced that they have the real truth above all other truths, that they are willing to take the ultimate leap of faith for it. They considered it suicide not to take this leap of faith.
Noone can be more convinced in what they believe to be true than suicide bombers. They are not depressed or 'suicidal' they are 'martyrs'. Here in the UK we were initially in disbelief when we produced our first suicide bombers. Suicide bombers are almost always convinced that they were doing the will of the one and only true god, and spend eternity in paradise.
To these people, their belief allowed them to take that leap of faith and go out into a better thing than this world can ever offer
"How can you insinuate that one's beliefs are false unless that comes from your own belief?"
Good point :-) I always strive to try never to say that any important belief is right or wrong. I think it is wrong to be 'evangelistic' about beliefs.
In my experience, a person who wants to believe something will believe it whatever, only they can decide what is 'true' for them, noone else. A court of law is the nearest we can ever get to a satisfactory level of 'truth', but it'll never be perfect
A child's belief that it's 'safe to step in front of that oncoming vehicle' is not what most people consider as being an 'important' belief, since a forcible restraining saves the life, against the wishes of the believer. That is what I consider 'good', do you?
Besides, the saying of the native american goes 'may I not judge a man until I have walked a mile in his moccasins'. What gives anyone the right to judge a belief in the first place? Isn't it best not to judge at all?
"... why would you attempt to bring down the beliefs of another free-willed being?"
My freind has been doing the national lottery for the last 9 years without missing one, he knows full well how much has been spent on tickets so far, but the odds are getting better all the time at winning the jackpot he says. He tells me about all the things he's going to do with it when he wins, and if you were in my place when he asks me to help choose the numbers, tell me please, what can I say to him ?
Hustada said "You already said that on another video." Glad you are reading the comments. I was trying to start a dialog on the Wayne Bent story. Cults seem to be a bigger problem within the US then other western countries Anyone care to find statistics to repute that claim.
I like to say it because it seems so true. Yes, though we are at the top of the food-chain, we still have predators... old age and death. As mankind progresses, so does mankind's 'healthy delusion' of believing in an afterlife get more technical and more psychological as the centuries go by.
California seems to be a cult factory for the last century. There's a Time Magazine from 1931 which interviewed the leader of the watchtower religion (Judge Rutherford) at the place that church specially built for Moses, Abraham, complete with palm trees planted to lessen the culture shock when they arrive in USA.
Oh,,, and by the way, the prevailing religion around at the time is the way we humans deal with our predator 'old age and death', by tangling ourselves up in knots psychologically, we can elaborately delude ourselves that we wont 'grow old' or 'die'.
What's happening with the Wayne Bent vs. Michael Travasser story lately? Anyone?
