  • just switched to mac myself. can't go back....

  • @lockergnome Do you really have an autographed copy of Win Vista Beta 2? If so, can you do a vid where we can see it? Thats awesome...

  • The most inspirational thing my ears have ever heard. Thank you Chris, I appreciate it more than you know.

  • he betrayed windows XC

  • who is this fucker?

  • @rhlinux89 Chris Pirillo? Dude, were you just born yesterday? If you don't know who he his then you must have just got one of those 'Free AOL' CDs at Walmart so you could connect your Pentium II with IE 3 to 28-k "right-out-the-wall". You must either be really young or really old. Chris P. is the guy that pops up when you want to buy a new piece of tech, or connect you Link-Sys router and want some help. If you don't know Chris, then you've only just dipped your toe in the ocean.

  • @stainglassfox dude, i don't know who he is, and sincerely, i don't give a fuck. I'm just saying that even I am a better steve jobs than he is.

  • @rhlinux89 Well, OK, maybe 'Steve Jobs Macworld Apple Keynote Wannabe' is a bad title. But the point still stands, Chris is a friggin' legend!

  • @rhlinux89 Hating anyone?

  • @rhlinux89 shut up, we love this geek.

  • Very inspiring.

  • netbook

  • That was FANTASTIC wasn't it?

  • I like this guy saying he likes Apple now. (a little bit weird, I still can't get used to it).

Actually I liked what he said. He's a good speaker.

  • beautiful presentation.

  • awesome job chris.

  • nice speech.....just like Steve Jobs

  • I don't understand what's going on

  • Youtube rebooted

  • Great vid, but compared to the Linux community... well basically there is no comparison, Linux wins hands down ;)

  • It's an unix based operating system that most often uses KDE or Gnome desktop enviroments. Linux is more used by IT professionals and people who are into programming and stuff like that.

  • @xjod9 Not to mention hackers/crackers.

  • how do you get turn down the lights

  • u need to hav partners

  • Did he get any laughs out of his little "jokes"?

  • Vintrilio! ftw!

  • was this a test or was the audience dead?

  • lol - the audience is the most boring audience I have ever seen! Their silent!! Must have been hard for Chris.

  • holy shit that was load

  • blog is a tool

    mailing list, that's a tool.

Chris Pirillo is a tool. HAHAHAHA

    19:15

  • Chris I really dig what you do on youtube and I really appreciate all of your insight! You have really helped me get more out of my macbook. Keep doing what your doing and keep the info flowing!

  • I think it's funny how he wore a black shirt and jeans on the stage.

  • wow...that actually touched me

  • so nerdy

  • you expected less?

    a g33k for life=)

  • u sound nervous man!

  • Worst keynote ever

  • hey, the man is getting his money.

  • Either way, Chris did a magnificent job in reaching out to those within the Macworld community. I am certain that many in that audience left with a new way of think concerning Macworld and what its purpose is. I too was one of those people who wondered what was going to happen with Macworld now that Apple will no longer participate. But I am confident it will continue to grow as a community with or without apple.

    `Nilrem

  • Also, I'm not a complete Windows fanboy, I know Windows did a very shit job with vista, however after launch, it started getting better, Mac users whinged about it, when they hadn't even used it before, also Windows XP users.

I still think, that Windows 7 could be better than the Mac OS, only time will tell, so far Mac only holds position in its fast performance via desktop wise and its multimedia support.

However, with a fast computer, faster than Mac builds, even Win7 can be better.

  • Every OS has its flaws, such to say, Windows has crap multimedia support, and has a lot more users writing virus's and Trojans for it, Mac has good multimedia support, and has not that many virus's due to people not even bothering, whether you say or not, Mac's can be hacked, Linux has decent support, if you buy the software for multimedia, and has pretty good defense in the virus area.

Either way, Win OS - slow, Mac OS - fast, Linux - Fast. Win OS more games, software, Mac-decent, Linux-decent

  • However, in the aspect of bootcamp, then yes you can use as much as the WIN OS, such as software and games, but with glitchs.

At that, bootcamp is third-party, such to say, it isn't Mac that's supporting games, software that Windows can use.

  • But hey, don't get me wrong, I love your videos, and you are quite knowledgeable of technology, that's why I'm subscribed, I'm just thinking Windows 7 now has a brighter future, and possibly will be able to beat Mac performance and multimedia wise, we just have to wait and see if Microsoft can pull this off. but still to this day, Mac's in my eyes are overpriced, and the fact I can still build a great PC and have it run faster than a Mac that's got old hardware in it is just lovely

  • I'm not trying to flame or take the nicky out of you, sure a Mac for multimedia, but I still think Windows 7 has a big future, as from the reviews on it and the fact it still has 1year till launch, or more.

  • I'm currently going into IT, and after using computers since I was around 4 - 5 (Commodore 64 ;) - ), the choice to go is Windows and Linux, in general, I know I can build a much better computer myself that can handle a lot of the latest games very well, with Windows 7 on an SSD drive, and 2 drives on raid 0 and still have it faster, and cheaper than a Mac its self.

  • Perhaps Chris, however Windows 7 is supposedly "Faster than vista, XP its self", now that's one hell of an improvement if Microsoft pulled that off, keep in mind the windows 7 you beta tested has 1year or more to go through fixing, etc.

Someone on a Mac only pays big prices for a Computer of which isn't "Completely upgradable" nor does it have the options of changing cases, etc.

Now, onto the fact that they can't play games, Apple puts the prices up on machines 30% more? Well.. I'd figure so.

  • I am sorry but your facts have no baring and np truth to them. Your facts are entirely subjective and have been true in the past, but that is not the case anymore. Those who continue to go for the OS war rehash the same falsehoods over and over.

But this is neither the time or place for a debate over OS since the debate itself is rather meaningless if one understands what the point and purpose of OS's are and what the pros and cons are for both sides.

  • They have no truth? Actually... I've built computers, and DO build computers, and troubleshoot them, the general fact is that Windows 7 has a bright future from current reviews, bearing in mind a ton of beta testers with reports on glitch's, issues until August, and for one I've built a computer for far cheaper than a Mac and the spec's are higher, and would run faster than a Mac.

Macs prices are marked up, thus why I can build a PC, have it faster, and cheaper than a Mac, with known parts.

  • Incomparable.

Sure, *you* can build a computer that is cheaper than any of Apple's offerings, but *you* are not the vast majority of the world. Not everyone can build a PC and install Windows on it.

Furthermore, people who buy computers from Apple are looking for reliability, ease of use, and little-to-no maintenance. For the average (NOT POWER) user, building a Win-box is an inferior solution to a Mac.

I used to be a huge Windows fanboy, but tides have changed.

  • And here your argument is very flawed and typical of people who build their pcs. Your statement must also apply to OEMS in general and not just apple. And most people don't build their computers. I have no desire to build my own pc. But when you compare equivalent spec macs vs equivalent spec pcs macs are usually not that much more and in some cases are cheaper. I have even seen some people build cheaper mac pros than price out a custom pc and the mac pro had higher specs and more features.

  • False... building your own PC, with higher specs, is a hell of a lot cheaper than a Mac.

  • And yet I have seen videos on youtube proving otherwise. Honestly type garethhallnz and look up his apple price point series. Part 3 gets into mac pros vs custom pcs. For some reason his part 4 is bugged out but truth be told the mac pro I believe was maybe a hundred dollars or so more. And remember when price point to be fair you gotta included the 4 hundred dollar copy of vista.

  • I can get Vista Home Premium 32-bit or 64-bit for $109.99 and Vista Ultimate 32-bit or 64-bit for $189.99.

  • Well, most places Ultimate costs more than 300 dollars, unless you have some deal.

  • Ever hear of TigerDirect or NewEgg?

  • Fair enough checked the site.

  • yep...

  • are you serious??? meh not worth arguing on that cause apparently you get PC parts for free with just a smile *sigh

  • Post a link to a Mac with price and I will link parts for cheaper and better. Your job is fairly easy considering Mac are preassembled.

  • take the mac pro and an alienware pc...Sure the alienware may have some parts which are considered better [not the graphics card cause Win is based on direct x10 and OSX on OpenGL but meh too much to be explaining that as well] , but in the end it's where you want that cost to go. Gamers will pay more money to get max FPS on their games,i'm paying more to get hardware and software from a company which is able to troubleshoot any problems easily due to having a hand full of configs -continued-

  • -continued- i'm also paying more just to save myself from having to upgrade for like the next 3 to 4 years, because that company's OS will most likely run stable and good on my machine even after all those years. iMac vs Dell all in one...do you really want me to go there?? Think not :D My new aluminum MB vs any laptop out there.. check reviews and comparisons on any tech site. You seem to not be taking into account the total cost of ownership [upgrades etc]. Meh anyway, that's just my opinion

  • azaas- I respect what you say because you don't come off as being an ignorant mac fanboy. If I could afford it I would have more than one PC and at least a Mac, however I can't. My past PC had 3 OS on it. Vista, Ubuntu, and another Linux based OS I used to testing. If I wasn't gaming I was booted into Ubuntu. When I say getting a PC is cheaper I mean building my own. I am "taking into account" buying a Mac for $2,000 or a comparable PC that I can upgrade more later for $1000 if that. -Continued-

  • -Continued- But for the gamers, they are going to continue to upgrade their hardware as needed to play all the games they want regardless of the operateing system needs. The only people I hear complaining about Vista needing at least 2 GB of RAM to function decently are those who do basic things with their computer. The hardcore gamers were already useing Quad-Core platforms, DX10 GPUs, and 8 GB of RAM. They welcomed Vista for the DX10 support and other gaming hardware support.

  • sweet mate :D I absolutely respect those things and this is why i simply say that it's all a matter of where each one of us wants that cost to go :)

Anyway, nice talking to you and thank god i had a decent conversation on youtube for a change :D

Stay the same cause it's people like you that community lacks nowadays. -_*

  • Ditto. And I finally got an Apple Store within 2 hours of me as well (in Best Buy). Was checking out their stuff. They didn't have any PowerMacs, but I think I came my pants over the 24" IMac. Took me a couple minutes to figure out how to check the hadware. I was like, "where is the control panel!" :P

  • My dad has the 20", he wants the 24".

Btw, im not a MAC fanboy... i wouldnt mind owning one, but for the momeny I am buying from Ibuypower on the weekend. Hehe, cant wait for my dual 2gb ATI HD 4870's...

Im just arguing that a built together computer from custom parts, usually turns out to be more expensive than pre-built ones. No matter, whether its mac or otherwise.

  • .........no

  • No it doesn't.

If it costs more to build your own new computer than to buy a brand new pre-built one, you are getting ripped off for prices.

  • hahaha you should of seen my face when after a decade of using only Windows i was trying to figure out how to work my way around the osx... LOL But hey this is what is all about :) getting to learn and experience new things can only be good over time :D

  • hahahahahaha

    what do you call "building"?

    Dell?

  • Talking about a white box, you?

  • A better path? chris obviously you haven't even bothered to beta test windows 7 yet.

  • I have, and I stand by what I said about both Leopard and Windows 7. While the later may be great for Vista users, it's nowhere near enough to pull someone away from OS X.

  • Are you italian? Why aren't you a mafia, The Pirillos. Would be awesome.

  • Don't ever have an original thought on his alt site they'll kick you off with out warning

  • Just wish it didn't show the boring keynote presentation so often, I WANNA SEE CHRIS :P

  • Very well spoken Chris. you communicate your thoughts and ideas very well.

And I do agree with you Chris, you have to come from your heart centre with passion when creating projects and ideas etc, in all aspects of your life for that matter. That's what gives it the edge. Your heart. Well done.

  • great speech chris! i wouldnt have the guts goin up there!

  • Great job on the public speaking Chris.
