  • Writers do the work/thinking while the performers get the glory. Nothing new there.

  • It's so funny, I have thought this excact same thing. I've seen Jon Stewart backstage on 'the aristocrats'. He was so unfunny it was amazing. Take away the writers, props, sycophant audience, applause sign, videos, sound effects, and you have a man in a suit, who took 30 years to make it in the entertainment buisness, because he has no real talent. Leno is the only one who can preform without writers because he is a stand-up, and stand-ups are the smartest guys in comedy.

  • Ya alot of people like Colbert i dont hes dumb, got kids in school thinking hes hilarious but they;re dumb I cant stand it , Ill vote Savage I want him to run.

  • Someone should inform Savage that the reason Stewart and Colbert aren't on the air right now is because - THEY'RE BOTH MEMBERS OF THE WGA TOO! Stewart is a stand-up comedian at heart - did stand up *years* before he was on the daily show, and stand-ups write their own stuff.

Stewart and Colbert aren't doing they're shows because they are refusing to cross the strike line to be in solidarity with the Guild they are both members of.

  • Oh, and some one should tell Savage this because it just makes him look like an idiot, ranting about a subject he obviously knows nothing about. But I've never known people like him to let the facts of a situation get in the way of a good rant, so I'm not really surprised I guess.

  • That's a lie. Neither Colbert nor Stewart were part of the Writer's Guild, and neither are Leno and Letterman.

Why did I say the last two weren't? Because, even with last month's magazine article about Leno and Letterman going on strike in the 70's, that was for stand-up comedy, not the stand-up entertainment they do today.

Besides, Colbert and Stewart, being on Comedy Central, do nothing but entertainment news that is spun in someone else's little web before being given to them.

  • the writers strike is a good thing and a bad thing. the good, it exposes the no talent of letterman, leno, colbert. I bet colbert didn't even write his book. The bad, Reality shows are on a rampage

  • This is nothing more than Savage taking a cheap shot while Lettermen, Leno, Stewart, and Colbert aren't on air to fight back. Something I completely expect from him.

He's attacking the character of people because they aren't working right now due to a writer strike? Are you kidding?

That'd be like if the people who run all the equipment for Savage's radio show stopped working and we mocked him because he wasn't still on the air. What a clown.

  • Whoa let me get this straight,, you actually believe that all 4 of these shows suddenly stopped production on November 5th because the character and morals of the hosts??

    ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They stopped production because the writers walked off the set and there is nobody to write jokes for them. That's what Savage is attacking. There are no writers for Savage's show, he's original, unlike these late night goofballs.

  • They could still be on the air, but without their writers to write comebacks and witty remarks for them Savage would just dance circles around them with ease. (actually he would either way) That's because Savage is a highly-educated man who can think on his own as opposed to these guys who are just entertainers.

  • If you write a Future no.1 mega hit, be it a show, song, whatever, but can't pull it off yourself, your gonna get someone else to do it. I seriously doubt that these guys jobs and world revolve around Savage, and its a bad comparison as they are sattirists and Savage is a commentator. If Savage is that educated he wouldn't need to resort to foul language, as it is that hallmark of stupidity.

  • What foul language? Empty-suit talking heads, buck-tooth moron haha-guy fake, dunces? That's all I heard,,,

  • Ok its the wrong phrase, to discribe his controversial nature, why he's widly hated and why MSNBC sacked him, but it's not just because of his ideas. Its how he articulates them; his choice of language, his verosity. It OK to say (eg) homosexuality is wrong, but his 'Sattarist' side goes beyond the boundries.

He can't get away with it like comedians, because of how seriously taken he is: You cant deny he has a devout political following.

  • Oh and BTW Michael Savage IS a political satirist AND a commentator, in fact he wrote an ENTIRE BOOK of political satire in 2006 (The Political Zoo) , and you're saying it's not a good comparision? lol. AND Savage does in fact have one of the top radio shows in the country and he manages to "pull it off himself" without writers. Please stop commenting on topics you know little about. kthx

  • This is hilarious and so revealing about leno, letterman, and the rest.

  • the truth is not one of the schmucks savage mentioned could make it on radio. they are all stale and bland and perfect for mainstream t.v..
