I live with a person who hoards cats. It's so painful to watch them fight each other & cry all the time. I hate myself for not being able to make it better for them.
my sister is a hoarder. I lived with her and her hubi and 8 year old daughter for 2 months. it was pure hell! I cleaned and organized as much as I could but I had to get out of the gross miserable hell. to me it seems like a form of abuse. she has a serious spiritual malady. i am amazed that children are allowed to live in that kind of abusive environment once it is reported to cps. you would think they would force the hoarder into therapy just like a drug addict or alocoholic..
My mom died when I was 14 and I moved in with my dad who is a hoarder. 13 years later my dad is battling cancer. I'm an only child and he has no one else so I can't really move out. Finally he is letting me clean up the house and yard, I've been working for months. Thank God my dad never became a recluse and never stopped my friends from coming over and keeping the upstairs completely clean. So although I never had parties or family over I had a somewhat normal childhood.
I know too much how it feels to live in those condition. I leaved my mother's home 2 years ago, life is better now. But I'm still broken each time I go see her. Stay strong, think about your well beeing first.
Congrats on making it. Were you able to live normally when you got out? I've only got like 1 and 1/2 years to go too.
