  • can anyone send me the link to the 2011 one?

  • dude thanks for posting that link to the song, its amazing, few tunes bring on emotions like this one.

  • this really bringd out the magic in movies

  • lord of the rings 3 was from 2003

  • This song just sticks with you. I've been looking a long time for the mp3, but I just can't find it anywhere. Could anyone send it to me please. I missed out when they were letting folks download it for free.

  • Of all of TCM's 31 Days of Oscar promos this one from 2008 remains my favorite.

  • It makes me so mad that they've changed the music theme this year. The new theme is far less memorable.

  • this video is sooo clever i love the jaws part and the song

  • ahh...l love love love these TCM promos, especially the ones for 31 Days of Oscar...this year is the first I have had TCM at home and I always got excited when these promos came on...lol

This year in their promos they used Funny Face, Butch Cassidy, Mildred Peirce, Chinatown, Top Hat(or one of the Astair/Rodgers films), a River runs Through it, Close Encounters, The King and I, Cleopatra, Network, Glory, and a few others.

What films am I leaving out?

Anyone else know what I'm talkin' bout?

  • Great music and video. Who is the composer?

  • i liked the song they used

  • Don't have them all but here is a decent first attempt, in order: Casblanca, Mr. Deeds, Some Like It Hot, Easter Parade, Swing Time, Singin in the Rain, Stand By Me, North by NW, Casblanca, Singin in the Rain, White Heat, Titanic, Jaws, Maltese Falcon, Raging Bull, Some Like It Hot, Sgt. York, High Noon, the Unforgiven, 2001, Poltergist, Time Machine, White Heat, Silence Lambs, R Holiday, Funny Girl, High Noon, Ben Hir, Great Escape Outlaw Sherwood, LA Conf, Pride of Yankees, Citizen Kane

  • The 2nd is not Mr. Deeds, it's Mr. Smith. (Don't worry---Mr. ___ Goes to ____ is pretty hard to keep straight.)

  • I recognize a lot of them, they're old favorites, but some of these clips go by so fast it might be worth it if someone would post a full list of what's on here, similar to what I've seen on "100 Years at the Movies" and other clipreels. Younger fans just getting into classic film might appreciate it, too.

  • At 0:55 is my favorite part : They 're here! . Line from Spilberg's Poltergist. Great!

  • some how the music fits perfectly

  • DONE! I have posted the link to the music below, but since Youtube doesn't allow links to be posted, I had to break it apart. Just copy and paste it. I bookmarked the link when the music was still available on TCM's website. It still works. I hope it works for a long time.

  • A few days ago on TCM I saw On Golden Pond for the first time. Terrific film. TCM hands down is my favorite television channel, and now they seem to be showing some more modern films.

  • Chris: Well it's because of the 31 days of Oscars. After that's done they'll RARELY show new films. Though I think they should show some of them more often.

  • i like it soo much it give me the chills :-P

  • The man at 00:28 (just before Seven scene) is from "M" ?

  • It's James Cagney from the movie The Public Enemy.

  • Thanks! :)

  • what is the name of movie where the man says "look how she moves"

  • Some Like It Hot (1959)

Directed by Billy Wilder and starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon.

    A classic!

  • I know the line at the very beginning of the commercial: "Play it once Sam..." is from the movie Casablanca, but as far as I can find, that song is not part of the soundtrack...

  • Is it possible that the music's public domain track that belongs to the Turner company?

  • Its possible, but TCM usually does not use originally composed pieces in their commercials... its far more likely that it is from some movie score.

  • Wow, yeah... I want that piano piece... its gorgeous...

  • I'm looking for the music too!

  • who is this music by..??? i can't find it anywhere?

  • i've looked all over the internet... i can't find it anywhere. WikiAnswers has the question set up, but nobody has answered it yet.

  • I went to the movies a week ago, they played this ad before the movies, I think it was longer though, and therefore more of the music was played. What a great piece of music.

  • I too saw it at the movies a week or so ago. Its the same ad with the same music

  • oh, you're probably right. I think I was so excited to see Sweeney Todd that the ad might have seemed to take longer. thanks.

  • I saw Sweeney Todd too the first time I saw this ad!!

  • Absolutely wonderful!! If anyone can tell me the name of the song used, I would be most appreciative. Mesmerizing

  • Yes I loved it! What is the music?!?

  • amazing and beautiful advertiment
