Wow! you see large parrots doing things like this, but it is more rare to see the little ones so sharp. All the ones on this page are great! Our little Myers parrots just eat, sleep, and occasionally bite us. What dorks!

@McHossie No yelling or screaming though! About picking up the bird: You should not want to do that (exept in some specific cases). You best win your bird over by being patient and figure out what it wants to do itself. If your bird then does something "cool" by itself you can reward it with a little snack. There's lots of ways to teach a bird to do tricks (and not just parrots, I've seen trained ducks and talking raven!) but remember the bird has to know it can trust you first. Good Luck!

@McHossie The Agapornis is a great small bird. In nature they choose a mate for life and that's why many people who buy these birds often get a male and a female. However with enough (read "LOTS OF") care and attention the agapornis in most cases attaches itself to it's owner as it would to a mate of it's species.

A good place to start to gain your bird's trust and favour is to actually do the same things at the same time together like eating, bathing, playing. Lot's of talking is also good.

I contacted every single IRN breeder in my area (and even beyond), and every time: they either didn't breed them anymore or they were completely backed up by other people interested. I guess it was just a bad time to get one.

So I did end up getting a Moustache Parakeet instead (about 6 months ago), and she is really nice. :)

Got to say that your TONE of voice sounds a bit too harsh.

Birds are exotic animals,not domesticated, so allowing them that extra two seconds to respond is not unreasonable.

Also,saying their names first helps me from having to repeat myself to my four birds.

@veryfuck Telling from the Video the bird says: Do not be a scardey cat. Either the trainer has been traumatizing the bird trying to break him/her/it in per se. Or is having fun with the bird and teaching it to say that in the past. I can just imagine the trainer scaring the living shit out of the bird and then saying "don't be a scardey cat" after which the bird picked up on and now says it sporadically, copying the trainer who said it after scaring the bird.
