they have been known to enter villages and kill several people in one attack,( if cornered). apparently before the introduction of anti venom they were the only snake in the world who had a 100% mortality rate.....there neurotoxic venom can kill a man in minutes.

However there dont live around many people so they dont kill anywhere near as many peeps as say an indian cobra...

most venomous snakes doesnt equate to most deadly, fierce snakes may be the most poisonous land snake, they are not as aggressive as a black mamba, which is extremely aggressive , very poisonous, the fastest moving and striking, large enough to stand upright and bite you in the face, can outrun, out climb and out swim any human being.

They also have the most most advanced delivery system, the most forward fangs out of any snake, and very non viscous venom that gets to work straight away...

But knowledge doesn't protect you from the venom...

I have a relatively harmless pet ratsnake.. but he let's me know when he doesn't want to be handled.

If he curls up his neck, he means buisiness... that's the point when I back off and leave him alone, eventhough I understand his behaviour perfectly well.
