I felt that this anime was good, but for some reason deep down, something about it was bad. Other than the fact that the plot made no sense by completely eliminating the angel plot by having them mistaken her for one, which didn't explain if there were any angels at all and then the story just took a full 720 spin towards another direction, and then ending with a really lame cliffhanger. Its descent. Better than green green at least. -_-
It's shame that you didn't like this anime, I thoroughly enjoyed it even if I did wish it was quite longer and more fleshed but other than that, it has high marks in my book. To each their own I suppose.

Yup, the stories surrounding the main characters were amazing while at the same time I think it could have been a lot longer if they explained why the supporting cast died. They bring you in, tell their stories then they say, "fuck these other people, their life stories aren't important but they died."
The SOS Brigade meets the Afterlife: Battlefront. It wasn't a bad anime amazing music, amazing animation, just too short and not enough character development for the supporting cast.
You're right about Yuri looking like Haruhi Suzumiya, her design is obviously inspired by Haruhi. btw, will you be reviewing another anime licensed by Section23?

But since you seem to detest teenage characters Hardy, I advise giving another newer anime like Casshern Sins, Eden of the East, or Tiger & Bunny a watch.
Tiger & Bunny's also a pretty cool take on the superhero genre, centered on a bunch of avreage human's who seceretly live the lives of superheroes that partake in this reality tv gameshow.

Good Review, sounds to me like this story is bland version of "Eraserhead", but minus the condoluded storyline and weird stuff, and adding a even more condoluded storyline, and making an anti-god story. That's just my take.
@whoisyouranime It's a horror film by David Lynch, it revolves around this guy named Henry Spencer (with eraserhead hair) who goes in and out nightmares in a post apocalyptic world. It's just a really weird movie, never sat through it. You should see the trailer.
I actually do like the show, but I can respect your opinion. After all, there's alot of shows I hate that others like[I.E. Inuyasha, Kekkaishi, Stellvia, Gundam SEED, that godawful opening theme both subbed and dubbed from Ouran, the Sunrise staff for creating Nina from Code Geass, etc].
i would had given a 3 out of 5 and yes i admit yuri has the haruhi syndrome it was ok i liked the animation and character design's too i loved the music and the english dub i can't say nothin from what i saw it's somewhat ok at best it was one of my fav animes from that year :) sweet review keep up the good job if you excuse me im going to play some dot hack // GU Vol. 1 :D
looks like you got the videos to 16:9 ok, well done, i noticed at times the angel beat clips were out of sync by a bit, it maybe due to the FPS (frames per sec), i use 29.97 for region 2 dvds, again its pretty much just messing around with the settings till its perfect but one step at a time, you did well with understanding the 4:3 -16:9 thing, your really getting there mate.
