this was an outstanding and epic confrontation between 2 GIANTS...I wish this year's one could be as good, and visually an excellent combination of team colours..can't wait for 2010 re-match(!)
yes you WERE robbed..you outpplayed Itlay (like Cameroon outplayed England in 1990) I think without Baggio's subtle shot you were there in the quarter final. Baggio was a bit clever like that, I remember his scoop into the box for Benarrivo which won the penalty.
HOLY SHIT..I WAS THERE!!! i was young at the time but i remember it being maradonas last game on the national team..it took place in the USA that year and i live in NJ an the game i think took place in Boston or somewhere over that area.. thanks a shit load for this
yes, I agree Nigeria 1994 was possibly a stronger challenge to other teams than Senegal and Cameroon..the 'big' countries were very scared of the Super Eagles, especially after their destruction of Greece and Bulgaria with such a variety of attacking play and goalscorers...Maradona aside, Argentina did very well and so did Italy, they were lucky to beat them.
Rasheedi Yekini scores the first goal against Bulgaria but his teammates do not rejoice with him. There are a few people around him, including Emmanuel Amunike who turns around and walks away. No sign of joy for this goal that gave Nigeria a 1 - 0 lead. Am I reading too much into this?
where did you get the material from 1:31 onwards? I had a VHS tape I bought shortly after USA'94 back when I was in the middle east. It had all the goals of the tournament, and I think it was titled "141 goals of the 1994 USA world cup". I looked everywhere online but it doesn't seem to exist anymore. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
To all people in nigeria..dont be sad..u already got talent in your country..compare to me malaysia,we got modern facility but our football goes nowhere even we struggle in ASEAN..that's really shameful after millions ringgit spend for football..
whatever happened to our football? why don't we play like this at the world stage anymore. heck, when was the last time we played at the world stage? Korea-Japan 2002. 5yrs ago. so sad.
even in the continent, we always come third. looks like that has become our reserved spot while some other random nations take 1st & 2nd.
No joke, I was 17 years old and I'm seen giving the finger when Amokachi scored the second goal at 6:22 at the lower right corner of the screen. I have the vhs but I can't beleive I found this on youtube, thanks for the vid

This was probably the strongest African team ever, even better than Cameroon 1990 and Senegal 2002.
