  • that little shit?

  • Anythings possible with energy fields and discharges of energy, ball lightning ideed exists whether it is fast or slow it still is there

  • That's an epic experience.

  • A scientist once tried to replicate Benjamin Franklin's lightning-key experiment and got hit in the face by ball lightning. I can just imagine it casually floating into his face, all slow-like... And then his head exploding

  • thank you, that I see it on you tube,in real I had a great fear...

  • I saw ball lightning last weekend. Our temperatures raised more than 35 degrees last saturday and wind was blowing like crazy. Clear sky. No storms in sight. Dry-as-a-bone. Wind was whipping power lines, but there were no power lines anywhere near where were driving. A bright blueish green streak fizzled and shot across the road without making a sound about 30 feet from our windshield. Both myself and the driver saw it. Most unexplainable "WTF" thing I've ever seen. Incredible.

  • I want a ball lightning next christmas! More than i want iPad.

  • I was watching tv one evening with a lady friend and a baseball sized ball lightening came down from my ceiling and went to my aluminum Chipotle bowl lid in the paper bag on my coffee table... freaked us the fuck out

  • I was expecting a screamer.

  • whoa creepy lol

  • look its the road runner!

  • Damn tree! Interfering with the scientific community!

  • i dont know what it is but if u look carefully it looks like it bounced up to the left

  • I want ball lightning to pass through me....Even if it kills me.Anyone else?

  • wait, what does ball lightning look like?

cause i remember one storm this ball of faded light just zoomed across the sky and kept going >_> past the clouds

  • i never thought that ball lightning is that fast

  • I'll bet it is what causes human spontaneous combustion.

  • Cant see it

  • All the signs are there. Looks like a genuine ball lightning. defiantly not lens flare or refraction. I would also like it slowed down, but am not myself a editor. Let me know when you do slow it down!

  • Would be nice to also magnify that spot.

Could this be a reflection from the window of something behind the camcorder?

Or did it follow the fence?

Why it would follow a metal fence without shorting out and disintegrating?

    Any sound?

    Thank you.

  • Can you slow it way down?

    Thank you.

  • @robertgift, that sounds like a great idea, I might do that sometime but I have zero experience with video editing software, can anyone recommend some software for win7?

  • @aether222 try windows movie maker. You can make things half as fast multiple times :)

  • @aether222 u can use the windows live movie maker just download the app for free. search it on google. i downloaded it and im having a lot of fun with it

  • @aether222 Sony vegas is great for that, but the pro version is pretty expensive

  • @robertgift I have now made a slow-mo version, link is in the description.

  • Is it possible to have them appear when it's a nice stary night out. With no wind or anything? I saw one not 20 feet from me it was awsome.

  • Good one!

  • its so fake, ball lightning is in the sky. and its not that small. and it ether explodes or fades away after a short periode of tim not go into the ground, pluse its fourmed in the sky like regular lighting

  • not all the time

  • @aat428 o really?... how do you know, have you ever encountered with one? NO YOU DIDNT so dont act like a smartass who knows everything.

  • @wuzimus Its called science genius. Im sure if you would have payed attention in school, you would know this aswell. DUMBass.

  • @aat428 Ball lightning can form along power lines and power grids as well. Its a big area of concern when working around areas with extensive electrical machinery. And yes, it can pass undeterred through solid objects.

  • Ball lightning? Where? I don't see any lightning at all, ball or regular, anywhere. I see too cars. One car goes shooting up the street at about 2000MPH, which seems impossible until you realize this video is sped up about 60 times normal speed. Nearly impossible to capture lightning like that. Ideally, to capture fast events, you should do the exact opposite: run the camera very fast (which slows the video to a snails pace). That way you can catch events under 1/100 second duration.

  • Sped up? Im no scientist , but everything else seems to be moving at a regular speed, namely the leaves blowing serenely in the wind.

  • Kool!

  • 20 years ago, my mom was cutting some vegetable on a table, storm outside, open window, and as she describes, a light orb moving very slowly beside her and gently touching her forearm, then it flew outside and disapeared with a large boom. From that moment on, mom experienced moments of getting unexplained cosmic energy recharges when she was sleeping. She remembers seeing colors spiraling into her forehead and feeling full of energy the next day. That happend once a month or so. Not anymore :(

  • its like an story of comic superhero characters ...tell her focus and meditate ...maybe she could use that as super power like she can produce lightning or fly or teleport with lightning speed ...something like that ...she can be "the lightning woman" LOL

  • is your mom a hippy by any chance?

  • Hey, dont be a douche ;), my mom is a saint, and you should read something about reiky and esoteric energy before implying she was smoking pot and had some visions or something.

  • Sorry mate, Sorry if I affend just a lite joke It's my nature.

  • ceck out the theory or electric universe and plasma cosmology.

  • I only had 1 time that I saw a ball lightning when I was on school. I was with a friend on the bathroom take a pee and when I was ready I look outside to the wheater and saw something strainge. I thought, huh, what the hell is that thing? A litlle light ball, it goes left, right and radom speed en a few minutes later he vanisht with a small blast. just ''boom''.

  • This is similar to my memory of ball lightning. I was only 2 years old, and it was my first visual memory, but a strong one. I saw a bright fireball hovering outside the kitchen window and then a loud explosion. The oak tree outside the window was damaged; I only know that because I remember my dad talking about it to a neighbor. For survival reasons we tend to remember fear based memories over the more pleasurable memories because adrenaline is proven to be associated with memory formation.

  • Congratulations if it's real

  • Ball lightening; seen as a mini universe o' stars forming, orbiting, then the whole "ball" switches off, suddenly, turning that ball o' energy into a speck ' o' dust!! Is this what black holes are up to??

  • saw it,it went passed both trees down the hall. That was awesome.

  • I saw ball lightning at school while i was in the bathroom... it diddent really freak me out though... i was speechless though.. looked to tranquil... made it impossible to pee though

  • @Nightblade101 Did you smell ozone?

How lucky if it really was ball lightning!

  • ball lighting can go through walls. that's why it's so dangerous.

  • @RiotYourFeelings you are right,I fear thunderstorms since my childhood, nobody can tell what they do.these uncontrollable forces, what they do,can anyone guess.♥

  • happened to me before and that was different usually it is just loud and youre electricity goes away for a second but that dont happened.

could that be a ball lightning?

i heard people saying they just disappear quitly. it wasnt quite.

    soryy for bad english. :)

  • and everything seemed to be happened in the inside of my room. i even had a tinnitus only in my left ear wich wasn't the ear wich pointed to the window i heard the thunder with but the ear that pointed away from it. there were many lightnings that was realy near to my house and it was very loud even before this but i heared them at the outside with my right ear (mostly) but this one lightning was realy different. in the first moment i thought maybe it hitted my house but it already

  • i maybe saw a ball lightning too.

i was sitting in my livingroom and there was a thunderstorm outside. one window was opened a bit (german hopper window ;) but my curtains was closed so i could hear only the thunder but not see the lightning. then suddenly there was an abnormal loud and (high) sounding thunder and a bright light so i was blinded completly and then i felt strong wind . then i smelled electricity and i even felt it.

  • Now see, people say ball lightning doesn't exist, but I know it does because my sister and I got chased by it one time. It didn't hit us thankfully.

  • june3rd2009. we live on a deep marsh(river) leads to the ocean. we watched what we are told is "ball lightning" it was spherical blue/white lights that flashed like lightning and "poof" were gone, no sound. just round, no trails. I didn't know it what it was, i thought it was some kind of gases, like an aurora borealis, but this stayed round. then would kind of explode and disappear. i wish i filmed it. i have seen nothing on youtube that comes close to what we saw off the Kiawah River SC.

  • thats creepy how all of these people in the comments have seen it, so scary how it passes through solids and leaves those marks

  • its because people who see it go search for answers on the internet and then find this

  • I was waiting for my camp bus a few years ago when it was thundering and pouring rain outside and all of a sudden this orb of glowing blueish white purple just appeared next to me while the sky flashed and I was like omfg wtf was that and now I know what it was lmao.

  • i think it was a security camera..

  • it's weird how the one who took the video anticipated where the ball lightning would occur.

  • I've seen it myself, and it reminded of this one. But I saw it from about 20-30m away, but from inside of a car travelling about 80km/h so I don't know if it made any sounds.

  • seen a shooting ball of lightning will riding with my girl back to the house...later found out the storm we seen the ball lightning in was the same storm that destroyed Mean, Ar

  • Had a freind tell me about one that went through her house as a child. Floated into the tv, then out an exterior wall leaving a strange circular mark on the wall. They trashed the tv because anytime someone got near it, static would arc and shock them. The tv supposedly still worked. I have never seen ball lightining myself, but a house I did an insurance job on after it had been struck had a huge buildup of static electricity 2 weeks after the fact.Every time I got near a plug, static arced6inc

  • balls of light are real, when i was a kid. i dont remember how old.

during a thunderstorm i saw a ball of light

as big as a basket ball, it was so many colors, blue, green, white, yellow, red and sliver. changing colors. im now 25 and i still remember it as if it was yesterday.

great footage, it brings me back to that afternoon. thank you

  • yellow stars...blue moons..green clovers.....that leprachauns on aaaccciidd

  • lol

  • ooh i saw it yeah thats pretty cool

  • Awesome. where is this?

  • bottom of screen

  • gotta be extra careful,because it causes deaths too,you shouldn't move,when it's near.

i've heard many things about that thing

  • Whoa!

  • it goes off at 0:17 is any1 was wondering

    thats so weird o.O

some ppl say they dont exist=\

btw can they really travel thro objects?

    jw if any knows

  • Ball lightning was a paranormal phenomenon up until the early 90s when certain physicists spent some of their research efforts on it. I believe it is caused by charged metallic vapours from a lightning strike

  • to me it looks like it shoots into the distance bounces off something comes back toward the camera stops and bounces again and moves off to the right .... thats mad if someone was standing there they would have been fu.... and the camera next to a big tree mad some people call these things sprites.....great vid

  • Thanks for sharing. I have always wondered what it looked like. Back before people had ac and spent all their time outdoors just to get food to eat, there were many reports of ball lighting. Now that modern tech has come along to document it, we finally get to see what the old timers were speaking of. what was caught on your footage is precisely what I had been told it looked like by people who had actually seen it in person.

  • i saw nothing

  • watch the video again, you can see the electricity shoot along the top of the fence between the houses and then shoot off into the air at the end. keep in mind that its going away from you and traveling extremely fast.

  • yeah thats ball lighitng

  • no ball lighting but i saw tinkerbell at 0:18 coming from between the houses

  • It looks like it's just the reflection of the sky in a water droplet that the wind is blowing up the glass on the door or window.

  • I've never seen that before. Cool.

  • Hey yeah, between those houses, isn't it? I've seen such thing to, a ball of one foot in diameter. It smashed against a chimney which explodes when the ball hits it, but damn what a noice!

  • i can only see a flash. but thats what i would expect from lightning in broad daylight...

  • watch the top rail of the fence in between the houses youll see the electricity shoot along top of it and then go up into the sky at the end. keep in mind its traveling directly away from you and the fence is pretty long.

  • i see!

  • awesome video anyways

  • actually only part of the time they're made right after a lightning strike. some of them have just formed in blue skys in the middle of summer and have squeezed themselves through cracks and key holes! pretty jacked up!!

  • I think that's real There appears to be a lightning strike somewhere distant behind the camera, followed quickly by the light ball. They are usually reported to appear right after a strike. Also interesting it appears to shoot upwards at the last second.

  • Nice clip - very lucky shot of what appears to be BL

  • I saw it

  • I saw ball lightning during a storm once. Me and a buddy were driving down a road in a rural area and saw two balls of light coming down next to some power lines. They were parallel and looked like headlights of a car. They moved at the same speed, one a little lower that the other. They both veered slightly away from the lines and then simply vanished. I didn't hear any loud clap of thunder of anything. "Was that ball lightning?" my astonished friend asked me. I said it must have been.

  • Have to say that it looks a great deal like a bullet leaving a tracer and then ricocheting off the telephone pole at the far end. It does seem to originate from the area where the camera is positioned. Certainly there's enough evidence to support the reality of ball lightning, I just don't think that this is it :(

  • That is was too slow to be a tracer round.

  • Neat.

  • This is simply the refaction of the light from rain drops on the window pane ..

  • he obvesily meant "refraction" dumbass

  • im just saying its not refraction, its real.

if u think its fake then tell me. why the hell would there be a MOVING point of light?

  • It's a firefly? Seriously though I don't know if it's real or fake.

  • lol

  • doesnt ball lightnings happens just in thunderstorms??

  • i once saw a ball lightning. we were on a hike and a thunderstorm came up. then out of nothing there was this gigantic fireball rolling towards us for about two seconds. and all of a sudden it was gone. looked a bit like lava or an explosion stopped in time and rolled down the hill.

  • SinusCraig Yes that is how I Witnessed it!

  • wtf no ball lightning here

  • Ball lightning is weird shit but it's well documented in science . With the rise of camera phones theres going to be better evidence of it in the future. I saw a good tv show about it once but it's still not really understood how it exists.

  • i didn't think it would have gone so fast....

  • Exactly

  • I Didn't See It...

  • I didn't see anything unusual.

  • That is exactly like what I saw years ago out the kitchen window.

The thing just hovered across in a glimpse.

  • where the fuck is the ball lightning?! >:(

  • bottom middle. a huge ball of something just flings itself through the stuff in its way. its from about 16 to end

  • I didn't see any ball lightning, but did you notice that one of the branches in the middlish upper right looks like an alien dancing?

  • it was between the two houses at the end of the vid. freaky

  • Really cool! I saw ball lightning years ago, a severe storm came over and lightning struck the middle of the street. A few seconds later an orange fireball the size of a basketball floated down vertically in the middle of the road like it was in slow motion and then suddenly disappeared with an extremely loud bang. Such curious events!

  • ur lucky ive always wanted to see a lightning ball. and i know your telling the truth because the biggist they can get is basketball size smallest is baseball size. and sometimes silent when disapear but sometimes a sharp explosion. ur sooo lucky i really want to see one.

  • I've seen one as big as a car..... amazing shit...

  • then it wasn't ball lightning

  • COULDA BEEN

  • my science teacher once saw a car-sized one too, just rolling down the street during a storm. Sometimes, ball lighting actually obeys the laws of gravity. sometimes not. wierd shit.

  • It might've been just a mad pigeon.

  • its that same time right now!!!!

  • nice documentation. worth archiving

  • Shame you couldn't have got it a bit closer and clearer. Never mind, at least you managed to catch it.

  • cool

  • It shure was in a hurry to get up there again. Probably did not intend to get "grounded" and scurried away, aloft.

  • That is not natural after the 3 or 2 flashes. around 0:16 look at the bottom its like a car or the ball lightning.its weird it flys down the path then runs sharply around thecorner

  • omfg it was William from Code Lyoko! XDD cool video :D

  • ._. wtf?

  • that would be too freaky! yikes! its more scary than i actually imagined it. i just thought it was like a blob of lighting that only goes down, not flying around something living! yikes!

  • COOL! Did it go UP, or back between the houses?

What would happen if you were standing there?

Would you get a static shock or would you be TOAST?

  • it is hard to see

  • what is ball lightning? all i saw was a flash from a light.

  • look between the houses at the last 5 secs and you'll see the ball lightning;)

  • Wow what a great view of ball lighting your lucky to have cought this on tape:)

  • Omg awsome! really freaky=D

  • sweet!

  • I saw it before as well, and yes it is.

  • Bottle rocket? Where'd you get that idea from? When did a bottle rocket ever look like that?!

  • I saw ball lightning before and its very very super scary.

  • lightning balls are awesome =D couple months ago one struck near my house right by my bedroom window

    i freaked ^_^

  • i dont kno Bob

  • that happened way too quick lmao couldn't tell where it was

  • lol. good one

  • well, i have to say, it looks a bit like an bottle rocket, but than again i do beleve this was a lightning Ball, i saw two myself, it was like 2 or 3 months ago, there was a pretty big lightning storm, than suddanly a bleu light ball came underneed the cloud, than another one at what i think was a couple of km away, than suddanly there was a lightning beam between them and they both disappeard!

i was f*cking shocket and they scared the hell out of me!

  • it looks like someone shot a bottle rocket between the two houses...i'm not saying thats what it is though

  • no. no you cant.

  • very good capture

first i didnt saw it but then i realised

that it was on the ground

    congratulations!!

  • that was a cat's eyes.. he jumped

  • touch it and see

  • if you look closely you can see that a piece of it went over the right side of that house

  • WOAH..that was insane lol...i couldnt find it at first but when i did it raised the hair on my neck lol...GREAT capture

  • WOW i thought these onlyhappens in cartoons ahahahaha

  • its at the ground

  • WTF R U TALKIN BOUT??

  • hey all,

    This is neither a ball-lightning nor a st.elms fire.

It can also be a plasmaoid, a very hot and concentrated bit of ionized gas.

It appears, when the ionized air-canule is damaged, then the ionized gas leaks out and getting burned, then it looks like a bal-lightning

  • cool

  • Lightning, contrary to popular belief, does go form the ground to the clouds (I remember a lecture about this in E&M class, though I don't remember the details). I'm not sure that was ball lightning, but it is neat.

  • How is that possible? The lightning reaches the ground (or conductor) due to differences in electrons. The lightning reaches the ground to discharge - so how could it be produced from the ground?

  • the lightnings can be between clouds, clouds==>earth, earth==>clouds

  • there's a story about Ball Lightning chasing a mountain man back in the day...old tale. If true, would be like this?

  • that was sweet

  • there is a thing called st. elmos fire that could be it

  • No, St. Elmo's fire and ball lightning are two separate pheonomenon.

  • whoa..

  • Looks like static discharge in an almost "Jacob's Ladder" type of effect. Sparks commonly occur where strong attraction between clouds and ground exist, but rarely form into ball or blob like that one did. Great work catching it on video!

  • Im questioning the authenticity of this, this storm didnt really seem severe enough to cause ball lightnign, which is usually found in tornadoes and hurricanes, the ball lightning appeared to have come out of the ground, the ground acts as... well, a ground, and what have neutralized the electricity. It is probably a odd arc, maybe resulting from a overload caused by the lightning?

  • interesting.. i have never seen one before

  • I saw one of these while I was fishing. I was totally scared, my father saw it 3 times now, you can see a lot of intersting things on the sky while fishing at night:).

  • discoball :)

  • it shoots up then splits (explodes)then another piece shoots off diagonally left..really cool

  • this is a simple time lapse of the lights of a car that drives in the street

  • Have your eyes checked, there isn't a road between the houses, it flies into the air diagonally at the end, and it's one light not 2 and the light is white not red and the time and motion of the trees rules out timelapse.

And oh yeah there is clearly no car.

  • Cool! XD!
