  • AL IS THE KING OF CRAWFISH!!!!

  • I used to annoy all my coworkers when I would bust out this and the Rosenberg's commercial tunes.

  • Spent my whole life in NOLA, and never went to this place. I remember the commercials, though. They were so bad you couldn't forget 'em if you tried.

  • Wow I wanna cry!!!! ;-(

  • this was the best crawfish in the city period!!!

  • That clip with the doctor has to be the most badly acted commecial I have ever seen in my life!

  • that crawfish must be crack

    it revived him

  • I had the honor of meeting Mr. Al Scramuzza today at the 2010 PoBoy Festival. He did a small lecture about Seafood City's impact on the New Orleans seafood industry. He is a lovely man and truly what real N'Awlins is all about. A great New Orleanian and living NOLA icon...

  • he is alive

  • me too I miss old New Orleans. So many businesses bought out or shut down.

  • Man I remember this

  • This reminds me of my childhood...I miss it. Remember the Uglies?

  • i was trying to make a friend remember this place and couldn't. thanks for posting

  • 1826 North Broad!!!!! Classic!!!!!!!

  • R.I.P. Big Al!

  • WE DAT!

  • Thanks for the memorys man .....

  • NEW ORLEANS CLASSIC!!!!!

  • I FEEL GOOD! I FEEL GOOD!

  • Damn, that was back in the day.

  • Loved these ads. I was a 2nd/3rd grader in N'yawlinz when these ads were on. I recall seeing them more so on Channel 4.

  • This made me cry

    miss the old new orleans

  • ahahahah oxymoronic much!

  • I have some of these on dvd. Seafood City, Miller the Killer, Godchaux's, Rosenberg's, Pontchartrain Beach, Labiche's, etc. Just bought a dvd converter, hope to post them soon. Yeah you right!

  • I musta dreamed about that Rosenburg's commercial last night. I went looking of it this morning. Hope to see it soon. Thanks, Jena

  • God, I remember this so well. One night I must have seen all of these spots during a movie on Ch. 8, late at night, this was back in 1992, I think. They were so frequent, and so hilarious.

  • i passed by there today 4-7-09 and saw the old corner now a walgreens. even went by mrs willie mae`s too. Mmmmm....good fried chicken there!!!!!

  • Myself and several others attended several weekly meetings where Al was one of our leaders. Due to a fire things got complicated.I met a lot of nice people at these meetings.

  • I find that I do have some intact (Jax Beer, Godchaux's) and I have 2 parts of a Miller the Killer that I edited together to make a complete version. I'll try to post them soon.

  • Please do! I miss the old NO commercials. I used to love the music in the Godchaux's commercial. Does anyone have clips of Nash Roberts doing weather?

  • Does anybody remember the Edwin Edwards spoofs they used to do on WGNO's Real New Orleans show? "Edwin Edwards' Greatest Hits" with the EE impersonator singing "I'm Baaaack, Ain't that a Shame"? Are those anywhere on youtube?

  • YES YES YES!!!! Hilarious! I think I had it on VHS but all my tapes and films got destroyed by Katrina.

I remember one of the songs was "Shake Your Boutte"

  • YEAH!!! LOL! THAT WAS IT!! And Nash Roberts is classic. For any Hurricane, no one really listened to the weather channel (especially since they usually over did it with the french pronunciations..'Me-taaaaiiirrreee" no, dude. it's just Metairie ) but when Nash was on with his markers, it was like, "oh crap, they're not kiddin... pack up, board up the windows. It's time to jet."

  • Nash was our good luck charm. He kept most of them AWAY from us. Think about it... He retired and... KATRINA!

  • Because I have the same versions of these commercials as you do (the Ronnie Virgets special). It ain't a knock against you dude...whoever did that special could've done better, that's all.

  • We'd rather see these old New Orleans commercials intact rather than cut up and talked over...where's "Put this man to work"?

  • How bout you find it and put it up.... INTACT AND NOT TALKED OVER

  • 1826 North Broaaaaaad! Seafood City...St.Bernard Never will forget

  • Y'all need to find the actual commercials for Seafood City, I remember watching their commericals when I was growing up.

  • That's 1826 Nawt Braawwdd!

  • Ha ha! If I live to be a hundred, I'll still remember the address where Seafood City used to be!

And I'm sure it's the same for most people who watched tv in New Olreans in the 1980s!

  • Now this is New Orleans....

    1826 north broad..

  • Man those were good good times there! Thanks for the post!

  • I was just a kid in elementary and you to sing the Seafood City song over and over!

  • I was soooo worried that people would forget about all of this old school greatness! THANKYOU for letting me show my children what it was like!

  • The hook from this commercial has stayed with me since childhood! I'm almost 40 and I sometimes hum "stay with Al Scramozza and you'll never be a looza, 1826 North Broad!"

  • i remember when my daddy fir st took me there and al was actually there waiting on us! i thought he passed on...

  • Love it, love it, love it!

  • WOW!!!! Damn I miss home!

  • Brings back the time I spent there in 1979 and 1980. I gotta get back there. Love ya Al!

  • OMG, I actually remember the commercial when they guy jumped up from the ground and the lil girl in the crawfish suit...yup showing my age

  • Wow! This really does make you miss home. I can just smell and taste those crawfish! Nice.

  • This makes me miss home even more!! just like you have to be from N.O. to finish Rosenburg Rosenburg 1825_______.

  • TULANE!!!!!!!!

  • LOL The lil girl sounded like she was saying "Two Lane"

  • yea she did sound pretty pronounced when she said Tulane...haha

  • Seeing this brings back such good memories of the Big Easy! These commercials show what will be missed the most in New Orleans. There is truly no other place on earth like Her!

  • You can also see Al and his store in the 1992 film "Delta Heat" with Anthony Edwards and Lance Hendriksen.I still have these commercials on my old beta tapes, they've always been a value to me.Thanks for the post.

  • Al is my grandpa. I would love a copy of your tapes since he lost his in Katrina.

  • Oh man, bless your momma and dem for posting this. But I'm so homesick now.

  • This is the real New Orleans lol... I know the address to Seafood City, Rosenberg's, and Morris Bart's phone number by heart just because of the advertising lmao

  • Anybody remembers that smell when you walk in? It was classic!

  • can anyone guess what al is doing now???

  • Al is the original auteur of New Orleans. And that voice! He's the man. Only in New Orleans.

  • Great vid! My pal used to have a bumper sticker that said (something like) "Al Scramuzza sings, dances, and flops on his belly like an alligator while shucking oysters at SEAFOOD CITY!"

I used to deliver freight to Jam Records right next door at 1828. Thanks for posting.

  • I grew up watching this commercial. Anyone not from New Orleans would never understand. 'Seafood City, very Pretty . . . That's 1826 N. Broad!!!!'

  • Nice to see this again. I was looking for an old "Franky and Johnny" commercial and I found this.

  • This is great. Thanks so much for posting this.

  • Cool!!! Thanks!!

  • This is a blast from the past! Thanks for posting! :)

  • On Big Al's immediate right is his beautiful dauther Saralyn who must have been about 15 at that time. On his immediate left is his lovely wife Sarah. Then next to Sarah is John "Skip" Culver and next to Skip is the older daughter Toni. They were beautiful, warm and loving people and I miss them all. Hey Skip...how ya doin'...remember the MV Harper and MV Pollard? How could you ever forget?! Miss ya bro...hope you're well. Same to Sarlyn and Toni of course. Miss you all.
