First time i ever saw Phantom was when we bought boot-leg in 2004 when it came out.Very touching moment when phantom sang this song and was carrying Kristie.The ending tho made me cry after she kissed him and they were sailing away.Music and movie or play was just great.We should all bow our heads and thank God for giving us the sense to feel the emotions that this beautiful music portrays.

I think some people need to read the original books to understands the motives of the phantom and what really was meant to happen, before the movie made everything look so silly. The movie makes it look all wrong... Recommend the Gaxton and Susan Kay ones :)

so, in the movie, right after he sends the letters to the people and stuff, saying that he wants box 5 open for himself, it wasn't. he was hiding somewhere in the opera house. and i guess one of the scenery people went and looked up there. The Phantom found him, and hanged him right in the middle of the performence? why? he knows that that guy had nothing to do w/ it, right? I'm so confused. it was when christine got a part w/ out any lines.

What are all of you talking about?? Christine DID choose to stay with the Phantom to save Raoul, hence the reason why she kissed him. He realized at that point how much the love of his life really loved this other man. And because of how much he loved her, he let them both go and live their lives. So, technically, a lot of you are wrong. She chose to stay with the Phantom. He just loved her enough to let her go.

So she chose to be happy and be thankful to the Phantom. I just hate it when people get all worked up over it like she never even took the Phantom into consideration...

I'm a Phantom girl all the way, but I personally think Christine made the right decision to be with Raoul. If you read the book, The Phantom is toned way down for the film version. In the book he's pretty much a psychotic freak who threatens to blow up the Opera House and all the people in it (including himself and Christine) if she doesn't choose him.

That's why I like him. He has that moment of redemption that a lot of people don't ever get. He has finally been given love, because yes, Christine loves him, and he chooses to let the person he loves be with someone else rather than be miserable. That's what makes him a good character and that's why I love him.

Something about Phantom of the Opera just drew me in. I think it's because it seems like a Beauty and the Beast type of thing. I love that movie and the Hunchback of Notre Dame. I listened to a good portion of the songs and I have to say they have beautiful voices. I love this song and I really want to see the movie and read the book now. She chooses to stay with him rather than let Raoul (or if we want to go by the book, pretty much everyone) die for her. The Phantom then lets her go, in the movie/play because he loves her and can't cause her pain. In the book I never did figure out if it was love or because he knew he was dying and couldn't trap her into that (still a kind of love, I guess)
