  • This is very lovely

  • Song?

  • When it all comes down to it, it was just a business that was thrown into the middle of an international incident in the blink of an eye and I feel bad for them because people forget that the hijackers were able to board with box cutters not because of anything inherently wrong with the airline’s own security, but the fact that at that point box cutters were permitted on planes because they were deemed a “tool” as opposed to a weapon. Silly to think nowadays, but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

  • @ryanaircaughtnapping Pretty much in a nutshell..Look at PanAM, all it took was lockerbie and that was it..Poof..

  • osama bin laden dislikes

  • This is actually a good commercial for being so old.

  • I love American. My first airplane ride was on American Airlines. I have never had a bad experience with them. Will always fly American Airlines.

  • I love American Airlines....FOREVER s2

  • This commertional is emotional

  • Muslims hate this ad. they did NOTHING to impede our freedom

  • AA will make it!!!

  • And ten years later, they file for chapter 11. There is a lot of "we" in this but the only people who didn't take a hit from the bankruptcy was the upper management...hmmm

  • @rev4life03 ..they'll be back..to bad everyone's gonna get pay cuts..

  • @aviator147 Back in 2003, pilots and workers took pay cuts to help "improve" the budget and save money to help recover the airline, but they continued to lost money while all the others profited, management also received bonuses during that time. I hope theyll be back but the management will kill it if they arent replaced.

  • If I were on one of those hijacked planes I would beat the shit out of those terrorist........GOD BLESS AMERICA

  • Seeing this on Saturday October 29, 2011 the American Airlines commercials still give me a sense of pride being an American. Have we forgotten what happened? We still need to remain United..................Ironic?

  • SHOULD BE CALLED AMERICAN TERROR AIRLINES

  • @77magenta shut the fuck up

  • @77magenta are you friken kidding me ......i can't belive people think its the airlines fault

  • Southwest airlines is where it's at.

  • love this ad. what's the song called

  • @flyewr1907 It's "Engine" by Steve Ford

  • When I fly American I am not 46A I am Alex

  • @:40 - :42 That salute between the pilots and the service men. Mutual Respect. I like that.

  • @dgh117 AWSOME VIDEO DUDE

  • Never forget. ♥

  • American, please air this commercial every September 11th.

  • Seems like a good opportunity to re-air this ad.

  • Interesting choice of music. It's the same as the music used in the old Ansett Australia (a now non-existent Autralian airline that began is 1936 and folded in 2002) adverts from the mid to late 90's. Ansett used the actual Enya song "Storms In Africa" but American are using a slight remix of it. You can see the Ansett ads all over Youtube. Great AA advert and as an Australian, I really like the look of AA's planes whenever I'm in the USA. The sliver, red and blue is beautiful I think.

  • thanks this came after my time with AA ..jul 75 until jul 1990

  • @southpilot as long as they're maintained they can fly well passed 50,000 flight cycles. Some DC9's that are over 35 years old still fly for Northwest/Delta. Back up your statement with facts concerning those two types of aircraft and age leading to any casualties. We're waiting!!

  • On time always

  • Absolutely total class and respect at 0:42

  • good campaign that makes me love the united states

  • Replay the video over and over again and one will come to grasp the concept of the video and it's point. Consider the difficult time when thousands of innocent souls were killed unexpectedly, who would have thought. One of the finest airline commercials made, AA deserves some accolades. Yeah, I do fly AA frequently, tho I favor the service of foreign carriers, the likes of Singapore, Lufthansa and QANTAS, however best being American.

  • southwest airlines and air canada rockkkkkkkkk

  • AA was a great airline that got gobbled up by its own success...we can thank AA for frequent flier programs, advance purchase fares, Sat. nite stayover requirements and hub-and-spoke operations. All of which seemed like good ideas at the time, but fast forward to today and look where it landed them. It's a great commercial though, and I hope to see them re-build SJU and get their head outta their backside re:labor relations

  • Seems rather cheap to me. If they wanted to do something inspiring they should have just have the CEO say something heartfelt to the camera after such a tragedy. None of the slick ad imagery.

  • A good airline that should return and strengthen SJU as its Caribbean hub.

  • American is a good airline, but they suck at Bag handling.

  • This is one of the best commercials ever. I really hope that AA can get their grove back. I would love to see AA settle their laber disputes, get a 100 seat agreement with their pilots and FA's, re-trench at ORD, and merge with JetBlue to re-establish themselves as NYC's airline. They have the makings of a great airline i.e. LAX, ORD, NYC, DFW, MIA, they just need to re-focus, and not just the mgmt, all the employee's do.

  • @ttdmfreaknew ... one more comment I need to correct you on, or more appropriately question you on: What did you mean when you said the aircraft had parts that were reliant on each other, that is any aircraft or any piece of engineering for that matter that has ever been created, maybe you haven't gotten that far in your highschool tech classes yet though.

  • @john2k24 EX: Fanblade rips off in tail engine, boom, out goes hydraulics. Balls drop? If you think 15 is pre-pubescent than YOU are the ignorant one. Any bloke knows all planes crash, but the DC-10 itself proved a dangerous design.

  • @ttdmfreaknew well you are clearly just a young misinformed ignorant kid. 23 Late to begin flying? Why dont you let your balls drop before you make idiotic comments such as that. My cousin started flying at 27 and is now 35 and an American Eagle Captain. Anyhow check your statistics son, the DC-10 did have fatal crashes, but what about the Comet, the 737, several other aircraft that I can site with multiple fatalities / repeat incidents. Anyhow dumb kid I was being nostalgic.

  • @balajinaidoo and TTDMfreaknew: bala you are right the DC-10 was an amazing aircraft and I imagine TTD you have never flown on one, I'm only 23 and a student pilot but I can still vividly remember the day stepping onto that bird (what mayb 18 years go) how exhilarted I was to finally fly in the DC-10 (yes I knew what it was I was flying in at that age).. it was as safe and as fun as I could imagine

  • @john2k24 Im 15 and a student pilot (23 for a student pilot, you are extremley late on that) but l must disagree with your DC-10 fondness. If you ask any AL pilot what the most dangerous airliner of all-time was, 9-10 times he/she will tell you "DC-10". Plain and simple, it was an overley streamlined design that had parts that were reliant on each other, with little redundant elements. It was bad, it killed many souls and lm glad there is only a couple in service for cheap-ass airlines.

  • Great ad, very captivating.

Why did American love flashing the DC-10s so much? That's a flawed piece of shit.

  • @TTDMFfreaknew I dont know if you are an aviation enthusiast or not, if yes and if i was you i would feel ashamed to say an aircraft piece of S***, have respect for the men who worked hard to make it and those who fly it. If you dnt like that plane, you can say why you dont like it instead of talking like this. American once operated nearly 60+ DC 10s

  • @TTDMFfreaknew I think you are referring to the MD-11s. the DC-10s were very popular airplanes until early 21st century. The MD-11 on the other hand, never did well, and had its share of flaws. both beautiful airplanes IMO. its sad to see the tri-jets disappear. also whats with the plane in the very first scene. its got a 727 nose and and MD-80 tail?

  • @macpilot757 I don't know what plane you are reffering to, what length into the video is it?

  • @TTDMFfreaknew oh i made a mistake, it appears at the start of the other ad. this one is just a 767

  • @macpilot757 Ha, just looked at that video, strange indeed.

  • Easily one of the most inspirational ads out there. American can capture my attention.

  • american needs a new color scheme. fast. its the only airline that refuses to change it up after so many decades

  • @TheMiaf1 ...its iconic...looks fine

  • american airlines ALL DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Just a bunch of hype after overplayed post 9-11 paranoia.

  • Goose Bumps throughout the video

  • "Proud to bear the name American" should be the slogan of American Airlines!!!!!!!!!!

I get the same goose bumps when I hear the Star Spangled Banner as when reading that slogan!!! USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @PilotUTA On the new AA videos they put American Airlines. Search "We Are American Airlines" and check out the end

  • @USflying yeah, i dont think i has quite the same effect

  • it good good food lol

  • @southpilot There is nothing with 757's or MD-80's. Every major airline still has 757's and there are plenty of MD-80's in service. DC-9-30's were still in use at Delta up until last year. An aircraft can fly forever so long as it is properly maintained. The flying public is too stupid to understand that concept. There are plenty who can get on a 757 and see IFE's on board and say, "This is brand new aircraft!"

  • @spades9048

    Speking of 757's,

    BA will retire its 757

    ;_;

  • i love american air lines ther sooooo goooooood i love frist class

  • @jas876p what is it like in first class!!

haha I dont know what goes on behind the curtain that separates coach and first

  • Buena publicidad !!!

  • I LOVE THE SONG!!!

  • @93Deli yeah song is great but what the title of the song....?

  • @schneiderjerome It's actually a song composed and used especially for american airlines, so (sadly) no one would be able to get it off of iTunes.

  • @93Deli

It's a version of Enya's "Storms in Africa"

  • @schneiderjerome

    Storms in Africa by Enya

  • The ad could have flashed the American Airlines logo at the end. Just my opinion though.

  • American airlines needs to fly to Australia!!

  • @ThePresidentsShow woah, those a300's were able to hold more than a 767-200/300 and were extremely useful on AA's routes, besides the A300 is technically the father of the 767 if you think about it. AA is awesome all around except for the majority of the time and i mean 18 times of the 20 times ive flown with them, my bag always ends up destroyed, but its not like the bag really matters :o

  • Thanks American Airlines, I'm proud to fly with you. I appreciate also the fact you allow our military to bored first.

  • i'm scared. we all need to stick our heads in the sand

  • Great commercial that someone reminded me of yesterday (9-11). I think AA should run it again.

  • Im sorry, but i see alot of comment's on this video saying how AA is shit, they suck, worst airline ever, etc. If they are such a bad airline as many of you people say they are, then why is it that they are one of the longest lasting airline companies out there. I mean come on now they have been around since the early 1930's. I love AA, i have been traveling with them since i was like 4, my father has been working for AA for 25 years now. I find nothing wrong with AA what so ever. Great video!

  • But it's become clear.... we are more... we are a way of life... we charge for extra bags... we use oldass MD80 planes that we call "Super80's" so that they don't sound so old... and we provide the worst passanger service in the airline industry.

  • @kuhne Don't be a jerk, if you don't like AA then why are you watching this video? If you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all.

  • One of greatest ads there´s been...

  • AA are unsafe!

  • at 0:25

The Freedom...... "Umm sir that bag can't be put on the flight... "

    American Airlines

    Delta

    and AirFrance are shit.

  • @resny0 actully the song is owned by AA but I read some comments from a long time ago about this video saying that it is similar to Enya Storms of Africa... hope this helps.

  • @USflying yep that is correct

  • yuck the worst airline ever

  • I got chills up and down my spine...GREAT commercial!

  • ---Concorde's Successor---

The Future of Flight is here....

    See channel for information....

  • Best. Ad. Ever.

  • PERUVIAN AIRLINES IS THE BEST AIRLINES IN PERU

  • @Carlos000000000100 LAN Peru? Or is it Aeroperu?

  • @ThreeSevenSpeedway PERUVIAN AIRLINES IS A NEW AIRLINE IN PERU

  • @Carlos000000000100 Ahh...so it's the new flag carrier, isn't it?

  • propagandist bullshit as one would expect.

  • By the way, if u happen to check out an Eastern Airlines commercial from the 70's or 80's, u will find that it is a carbon copy of this AA post 9/11 spot.

  • @harrytsam u mean the AA's one is a carbon copy

  • Im proud to say I always fly with American Airlines! and I love them

  • one of the best adverts in this decade

  • This video is such scary propaganda. Flying is a way of life? What perverted series of values sees such a luxury (and destructive) activity as a way of life?

  • is there a dc10 in there?

  • oh wow wat a shit country

  • @Folldaddy HAHA..and what country might you be from?

  • Ladies and gentlemen, when they fly to lima peru to cusco flying in the new airline called peru economic PERUVIAN AIRLINES premium service thanks.

  • PERUVIAN AIRLINES IS THE BEST AIRLINE IN PERU FLIGHT IN THIS AIRLINES THE TICKS DOENT HAVE TIE

  • Just another company pulling on the heartstrings of a country after a national tragedy.

  • I am a very young teenager but i love flying and i love having three accounts of airlines that are great including american airlines is the best

  • Have FLown American Only a few times but have to say they have been my least fav so far no in seat entertainment for a 9 hour flight is un heard of now adays ! hmmm mediocre at best

  • @wandaslice OMG that must of been torture.

  • Probably the best commercial ever made for an airline... It's so epic... I'm flying American

  • I fly American Airlines alot. This is what makes America Great. Thanks A.A.

  • =*) makes me cry watching this commercial.it makes american airlines look like one of the best airlines out there. someday, ill be flying for them. =*)

  • @AMERICANPILOT2 I agree with you and good luck with your dream! I don't think you'll fly for them, I know you'll fly for them. I will be a pilot soon too. Long live American Airlines!

  • GENIUS

  • The best ad AA has ever done - the ad agency who came up with it did a fantastic job - and the "Enya-esque" background music is terrific.

  • Screw Atta for driving this into the WTC

  • @JESSE75946 He's already screwed. St. Peter saw to that.

  • @JESSE75946 And Hani Hanjour for flying this into the Pentagon. Don't forget that!

  • Kind of ironic that they'd use an Enya track for a "proud to be American" commercial. Nonetheless, I'm really happy anytime electronic music is introduced to the mainstream, and it's a powerful, moving , visual theme. With the constant push to be "edgy" in the advertising industry, this delivers a simple and patriotic message--and hopefully with an American music producer next time as accompaniment. :)

  • oooh i like!

  • Love it when the pilots salute the soldier and sailor. I never get tired of seeing a soldier get offered a first class seat for free. On a southwest flight once, the pilot had everyone remain seated until the soldiers on board de-planed, the entire plane clapped as they got off. God bless America

  • great commercial

  • Even though I hat American and Love United this was a kick ass AD

  • What is the song?

  • Whoever was American's advertising head for this commercial, should have an airport Terminal named after him/her. OUTSTANDING and moving commercial! A++++

  • Can I get a HOAH!

  • I am a UAL flyer mostly (American's rival), and I have had some bad trips on AA, but I must say, this commercial, is well done. Not just for an airline commercial, but any commercial as a whole. Good job AA, and best of luck with your company. (PS... don't change the iconic logo!)

  • Phenomenal commercial. There is a reason why two of the hijacked jets were American airlines jets that horrific day. The name of the airline in red, white, and blue colors gave the airline an x on their backs. AMERICAN. This commercial shows our resolve at that very uncertain time for the American people. I like the ending,...Proud to bear the name.......AMERCIAN!!!!

  • What song is this?

  • they should bring these ad's back. Too bad more commercials aren't uplifting like this.

  • Excellent,

  • I HATE american airlines not because my b day is on 9-11 but lets face it they sucl they merged with TWA and still called it aa BTW i love the song but thats it

  • The CEO needs to be paid more. Millions is not enough for this guy. Raise bag fees and cut personnel.

  • Advertising is fine, but the flight I did was a disaster, food scare and the hostess did not understand Italian, blaa ....

  • what is the name of the song used?

  • why is it people that write nasty comment cannot spell?

  • great ad, pretty good airline with older cabin crews who after many, many flights still treat people with respect and a smile. The older gals and gay men who serve us in the cabin deserve a smile in return.

  • i am australian but i like americna airlies alot better than qantas because of the resent stuff up with their 747 and a380. cant they maintain the most high tek aircraft in the world???

  • this airline is loaded with racist middle aged gay flight attendants.Ive always seen them ignore blck passengers or give them hostile attitudes.

  • @oonchee if youre gay you have no right to be racist because i have no problem with black people but i CAN NOT STAND A FAG.

  • Too bad it's mostly domestic in the U.S. Who cares if terrorists took advantage of it. I like its shiny exterior coat. So shiny.

  • poor airline.

  • the only thing that is catchy about this ad is the music... if there wasnt music ppl would just ignore it but the music is sick

  • ehhh. Qantas for me, thanks

  • Whenever I feel discouraged in my pilot studies I just watch this video and it helps me to think I will fly as a pilot one day. Beautiful vid!

  • american airlines: we were in on 911...

  • Those motherfuckers who did this to our country on 9/11 will pay in a very bad way. I hope that bitch @ss bin laden get captured and tortured in a slow death.

  • this ending makes me love my country more

    USA USA USA

  • @statewi Amen!

  • @statewi LOL. but nice commercial though

  • @statewi rellay yor country usa

  • @statewi realy yor country usa

  • is this some commercial, cool one.

  • amazin Ad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I LOVE these commercials. The song is so fitting, and it makes you feel good. I haven't flown american in a while, but I must say. they are a favorite.

  • I don't like them. but I still fly with them sometimes. But I have to agree thee do make you feel good :)

  • hello, am flying with american for the first time in may and was just wondering what they are actually like, in-flight entertainment, food, service. i am flying from london and would like to know as its a long flight, only ever flown with virgin to america? can american rival the service of virgin??

  • me too im gonna be on an AA flight for 15 hours

  • dean... they will try their very best and fail...

  • I only fly Southwest.......I mean this commercial is great, but how many employees from this video have been laid off?

  • I dont know... how many? Or is that just a general statement with no statistics to back it up. My guess.. NONE... American Airlines allows stations to transfer if a station closes... oh by the way, forgot, exactly HOW many people from this video were laid off?

  • All of the TWA ones.

  • @MrHeythere24 I hate to agree but I do support and hope that all of employee groups start getting along and just move forward, Delta has done a great job at that

  • IMHO, Southwest is the freindliest and my personal choice, but I honestly have no problems flying American.

  • American Airlines is the best airline in the whole world!

  • you wish!

  • I miss TWA

  • One of the best airline ads ever! When you see it, and you know that they rolled this out right after 9/11, its like rubbing our freedom as Americans in the faces of the terrorists who so badly want to rule the world with fear.

  • thanks Toms :)
