Their language, which goes up and down the scale, may cause some to think they are being rude or whatever, but for the largest part I have found they are an honorable and extremely respectful people. People were glancing at you - only a small number actually held their gaze. If you are African American in Hong Kong you should expect to be stared at - you are a novelty to them. The place is 99% Chinese, mainly Cantonese-speaking. Africans and African-Americans are often a source of open curiosity in many countries, primarily because they are a rarity. I'm sure it can become irritating but you might take some comfort in knowing that it's not because of intentional rudeness.

From a HK citizen point of view :) There's quite a few reasons y we would stare at you. First, we would be curious since 97% out of our 7million population is made up of Chinese. Second, we'll be staring since you're filming, try film in ur own city/town, everyone will stare at you. Third, we'll look at you if your beautiful or anything, but after I watched ur video, I think the biggest possibility that we stare at you is that you are a big fat stupid bi*ch. :D

So when you say they will be staring if you film, it shows me to that you did not spedn the time to read things carefully .. I have done a bit of travelling, and have never been unfortunate enough to encounter a rude individual in China. Their language, which goes up and down the scale, may cause some to think they are being rude or whatever, but for the largest part I have found they are an honorable and extremely respectful people. If your experience is different, please remember there are good and bad in every culture.
