find combination for dial locks

This worked for me. One observation that may be helpful: on page 3 "now turn the dial to the left 1 rotation to get the left disk to turn by itself" should be "to get the RIGHT disk to turn by itself". Other than that, this tutorial kept me from just throwing away an old lock to which I had forgotten the combination.

I HAVE A FOOLPROOF WAY!!!!! 1st: Get a lock, 2nd: lay it on a hard surface (concrete is recommended) 3rd: Repeatedly hit with hammer until open.

Works! Just open a lock with a shim and then found the combo. from this video. Now I can use my 3 locks I've had in my garage for the last 15 years.

I tried this just to see if it works and it really does. I had to go down to the next 2 numbers from the twoI found at first but then when I did that I was able to find the last number. I really cant believe it works so well Great Job.

Of course the shim will open it every time but it's going to look like you're always trying to break into whatever the lock is on, whether it's your own lock or not.

At school for example, you definitely can't use a shim to open your lock, so finding out the combo helps a LOT!

Not to mention using a shim can be a royal pain in the ass since you can cut yourself really bad when making or using it, and its kind of hard to turn it once its in place etc etc...

the entire point of doing this is to only have to shim that lock that you forgot the combo to ONE time. Once a lock is open... you can figure it out by using this formula... its quite simple. Just yesterday i shimmed by boss's lawn shed and used this formula on it to help him out :-) Thanks man... GREAT trick!

got my code with your method very easy...

made a shim out of an old pepsican, opened it an watched the knotches. 2 numbers -10 and the third number was right about the number i figured out by the mathematical method...

on my lock the right disk spins on its own the after the 1st rotation the 2nd disk joins in

sweet, got it to work on two locks that i had in my room for like a yr and completely forgot about...

i think it's important to know fully how the lock works so i recommend visiting howstuffworks(dot)com, look for the wheel pack animation video then compare that to what you see in your lock.

I think it's 2 instead of 0, so It will be 32. Now the 2nd numer is 5, I have to subtract 10 too or add. What about the 3rd number???

I can't do it, what do you mean about "line the top of the notch just about dissapears from sight but you can still see the bottom where it ends" I got 0 when I do that, that's imposible I never had that # on my combination. Help!!!! I need this lock but I don't remember the combination.

- my lock has the drive cam at the right 'NOT on the left' of the lock( i mean my drive cam wheel is NOT at the opposite side of the combo dial)

and it seems i have only to other wheels on the left of drive cam wheel

its a cool video and everything, but if u were trying to crack a lock taht u didn't no the combination to, it wouldn't help as u have to have the lock opened to perform the trick. Cool video tho!
