@mryellowcrown You don't know what you're talking about! All the songs on the album that this song is from are all good and they went on to release other hits after this song.
I remember seeing this on Post Modern MTV, a show that played every weeknight at midnight!!!! Ah the memories. Now the alternative music music is crap.
@Tuzotonic I love it too! Listen to Paul McCartney - Goodnight tonight, released a few years before Oblivious. I'm sure McCartney influenced Roddy Frame.
Vid to go with it or not, this is the best-quality version on YouTube (at the time of writing) of a song which is just unadulterated brilliance! Thanks- I've been looking for this track literally for years.
Why can't this - out of the 4 I've seen the best audio version available on YouTube of this classic - be allied to a decent quality video? (Before you say it...I lack the necessary skills and wherewithall)..thanks for this anyway,katatomo77.
@boxpleatfan Oblivious is such an awesome tune for instant happiness! I just bought the 'New Wave Hits of the '80s Vol. 12' (just can't get enough) CD for this original version tune, from Amazon.com So happy to get it onto my ipod!!! Also got Vol.6 for Numbers With Wings by The Bongos (even more bliss!) and Vol.9 for Dancing in Heaven (Orbital Be-Bop) by Q-Feel. They all arrived in the mail today and I'm giddy. :)
it's just fuuuukin lovely!

Early 80's British Invasion was like late 60's British Invasion - very very special for a very very short time ..

@Celestiaetterra Well put!! I recall this and Icicle Works "Whisper To A Scream" figuring prominently on the tape player in my car in 1984!

@Celestiaetterra I'd throw in the late 70s with the early 80s as one period but you're right

@mryellowcrown But they also sang Somewhere In My Heart and I'm sure they had other songs as well, so they're not a one hit wonder

Like a funny film,
it's kinda cute.
They bought the bullets
and there's no-one left to shoot.
. . .(and I like the backing vocalists too)

This has become my new favourite 80s song. I can't believe I had never heard it until recently. It's just fantastic.
