I believe that Lana lied to protect herself, because she believed that was what was right. Lex, well...i agree with the others on this point, he is a strategist, everything he does is pretty much planned out on his ultimate "quest for power" and he doesn't actually care who he hurts, as long as he ends up on top. Lex isn't capable of love. He's capable of infatuation and obsession. That's all and that is as close to love as he could ever get. And Clark was right to not tell Lex the truth. Lord only knows how Lex would've used that information against Clark.
Lana made Lex pay for his lies when she fake her death and put him in prison, still he forgave her because he'd always love her. After that, Lex even endured all the time Lana spied on him, threaten him and blackmailed him when she was on the ISIS project.

I disagree... I think Lex was always meant to be who he became in 'Descent'... if anything his twisted family destroyed his ability to trust or be trusted. As for the lying. Clark's reasons for lying was always to protect his friends and family from reprisals against him. Lex's lies were always for malevolent reasons.
All in all, Lana was always a liar just as Clark and Lex were. which is why it turns my stomach when she calls everyone out as a liar when her lies end up getting people killed.
uhmmm. It's good to hear from a complete different point of view. Okay, Clark's lies were to protect his family and friends...while Lex lies where to protect himself, got it. But when Lex welcomed Lana in his life, he open up to her in a way Clark never did, when he gained the superpowers, shortly before becoming ZOD, he confessed them to her. Lex is evil. He made her think she was pregnant just so he could get her to marry him. How pathetic is that?! In the end it's Lex's fault that he became such an evil son of a bitch! There is no real justification for Lex turning into the monster that he is today. And you can't blame anyone else for the way he is either. I doubt that's gonna be happening since one Lana does not end up with Lex in the comics, and Smallville still has 2 follow the comics 2 an extent. On top of that Lana knows Clark secret and Lex is not suppose 2 know it at all, since he's not suppose 2 know that Clark and Superman are the same person. Then there is the whole fake pregnancy thing, Clark may have kept secrets and told lies, but Lex crossed the ultimate line with that.
I think Lex and Lana have much more chemistry than Clark and Lana. They just click. When Lana gets kryptonian powers in this season, she kisses Lex instead of killing him when she had the chance. She's still in love with him and Lex knows it. I used to be a huge Clana fan, but I hope Lana ends up with Lex.
Err.. Perhaps you might want to see the whole episode first before drawing conclusions. She kissed him to trick him. She knocked him out after that he kissed her and wiped her lips in disgust. That's hardly the kinda reaction you'd expect to see from someone who's in love.

I agree, this is why I compare LEX 2 Anakin Skywalker, similar dynamic. This is how most modern day villains work, they often have a tragic story behind them. When it comes 2 Lex and Clark i see them as playing off each other, 1 makes the other who they are. While I don't c Lex as pure evil, I do c him as the villain of the next chapter of the story (meaning Superman).

I still think when Micheal was giving that interview, he was talking about what Lex thought. I could be wrong I read this last year in SV magazine after S.5 ended. We saw this in Batman Begins where young Bruce is about 2 murder Joe Chill and later Rachel tells him 2 look outside of his own pain. And of course Batman has a similar moral code 2 Superman. It basically about doing what Rachel said, looking outside urslef, something which Bruce did when he journeyed around the world. Once Clark has done this himself, be it in SV or someplace else, then he will be ready 2 take on the mantle of Superman.

I don't know if you are a fan of the spiderman trilogy but peter parker always seemed to have a good balance between lies and the truth. he even told harry if he knew who spiderman was he wouldn't tell him. if clark had just sat lex down and said "there are things about me i'm not comfartable in sharing and i would appreciate it if you would just wait till i am ready to give them out" then i wouldn't feel as bad for lex.

Most of what you're saying is true. The bottom line, however, is that Clark did everything ethical he can, even though he wasn't always truthful (how could he with all his powers waiting to be exploited?), to save Lana.
Lex even tried to be just as ethical but his unloving father and too many "haters" proved too much for him, thus his turn to the dark side. You kinda feel sorry for him, but once the gap of values widens between Clark and Lex, it's easy to choose which one to root for yet there's a lot of gray area as well. I feel you, though

I believe that Lana lied to protect herself, because she believed that was what was right. Lex, well...i agree with the others on this point, he is a strategist, everything he does is pretty much planned out on his ultimate "quest for power" and he doesn't actually care who he hurts, as long as he ends up on top. I disagree... I think Lex was always meant to be who he became in 'Descent'... if anything his twisted family destroyed his ability to trust or be trusted. As for the lying. Clark's reasons for lying was always to protect his friends and family from reprisals against him. Lex's lies were always for malevolent reasons.
All in all, Lana was always a liar just as Clark and Lex were. which is why it turns my stomach when she calls everyone out as a liar when her lies end up getting people killed.

There is no real justification for Lex turning into the monster that he is today. And you can't blame anyone else for the way he is either. A lot of people go through crap in their lives, but not everyone turns evil because of. He could've chosen a better path, his mother even showed him the life he would've had if made the right choice, but his need for power and control was more important to him than anything. I agree, this is why I compare LEX 2 Anakin Skywalker, similar dynamic. This is how most modern day villains work, they often have a tragic story behind them. When it comes 2 Lex and Clark i see them as playing off each other, 1 makes the other who they are. While I don't c Lex as pure evil, I do c him as the villain of the next chapter of the story (meaning Superman).

I still think when Micheal was giving that interview, he was talking about what Lex thought. I could be wrong I read this last year in SV magazine after S.5 ended. Personally I've always compared Lex 2 Anakinn Skywalker, a fallen hero, but that does not make Clark the bad guy, he did fail Lex, yes, but that does not make him a bad guy or corrupt cop. And when Anakin turned 2 Darth was most certainly was during that time the villian of the story.

We saw this in Batman Begins where young Bruce is about 2 murder Joe Chill and later Rachel tells him 2 look outside of his own pain. And of course Batman has a similar moral code 2 Superman. It basically about doing what Rachel said, looking outside urslef, something which Bruce did when he journeyed around the world. Once Clark has done this himself, be it in SV or someplace else, then he will be ready 2 take on the mantle of Superman.

Lana is not mean, Lex is a liar and always has been, even in this scene he tries to accuse her of lying when he knows that he faked Lana's pregnancy to get her to marry him, that he used a girl to manipulate Clark so Lana would see them together and she would deepen her mistrust for Clark so he could dive in an sweet talk her at her weak moments. Lex acted so surprised, if he just stopped his bullshitting, plotting, deceiving, and jealousy of Clark, he MIGHT have been worthy for Lana

I read the cast line-up for season 7 and it says that Lana is in it. So something mite be sucpicous about that car bomb. But know one really knows. Just note that one cast member is officaly of the cast list and that is Martha. She could just play some episodes though. But ya.

WHOA, CALM DOWN! There is NO reason to believe that Lana is actually dead! Just watch the scene for yourself--I mean, really, a white truck just HAPPENS to pass by her car and completely obscure her from Lionel's view for some seconds? Nuh-uh. Not on this show.
