I'm realizing that we as black people have to many similarities, no matter where the slave traders dropped us off at! In the beginning, watching the little boys dancing, it reminded me so much of the dances that the guys and girls do in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA! I love my African culture and one day I hope to go back home. But first, I'm gonna visit Honduras!!
Garifunas have a great spirit and those dancing kids are an example of it. Unfortunately, years ago, some people took advantage of them by offering a bad deal to build on their land. Today some of the families have a hard time facing their current situation but many good people are pitching in by helping kids to get an education that will bring them, I’m sure a brighter future. Garifuna kids are the future of the Garifuna Nation and with them, the traditions and the culture will live for ever.
excellent video from the beginning to the end love it..
i was born in bananera, morales izabal y criada in zacapa
for some reason i identified my self a lot with the garifunas i think i have thier blood pumping in my veins love and much respect to all garifunas guatemalan, honduras, or any other country we all one nation
ethnic minorities must be saved from extinction! this case we speak about Native America (Native American, Apache, Cheyenne, Mapuche .....)
Governments must foster development. Only in this way, the original breed may have a chance to survive! We can not allow this noble breed
extinguished! W Red Power movement, W NOBLE native people, I love red leather. all tribes from the north to the south of the continent all together. against extinction
God Bless the Garifuna people. I just learn about them today and as an African, i can relate to their music, rythym, songs and intricate dance steps. Thank you for keeping your heritage, your culture and all that you are. God bles you all.
As a Honduran I am very pround of Garifuna people, They enrich our culture, they are strong, hard workers, but most of all they are happy, always singing and dancing, I love them, God bless them forever...
they are garifuna first, they spaeak spanish and garifuna , they have they own culture.they are 2% of honduran population and liv along the caribean cost. they are Hondurans and Garifunas.
I THINK AFRO LATINO is people who is mixed with mediterranean latin and african blood. people who has two cultures, but not a black person who speak spanish.
You are so dumb is like saying that blacks in USA are no American because they came from Africa.-Garifunas had been living in Honduras for hundres of years if you ask them they tell that they're Honduran.
honudras was the one who gave us a home and allowed us to stay there when the british deported us off the island of st vincent and left our brown skin brothers and sisters on st vincent and ended up loseing the culture and mixed in with the island hints our langauge is pure ameridian
they're proud of saying them, except for the young generation they tell you there black, while you meet their family, they speak spanish, love the culture, and also the music!!!
i'm fascinated by the possibility of generating some connectivity between young people from st. vincent and the grenadines and our brethren in central america. what role does st. vincent play in the history of the garifuna in central america? is svg a place of pilgrimage? why? why not?... i don't know where to start with garifuna history. any recommended readings?
i met a honduran last week who told me they learned in school that st. vincent is like what africa is to culturally aware black americans: home. is this true? no one in st vincent talks about that heritage and legacy. sad if young vincentians miss out on that power.
from my understanding (and this i learned from my anthropology prof who did field work in St. Vincent) the garifuna people who fled St. Vincent and ended up in Central America were being forced to conform to the European traditions by the new settlers. So It seems like those who stayed in the island assimilated to the new lifestyles and don't carry out the same traditions. It's great that they teach kids in Honduras (and maybe even Belize) that they're legacy comes from St. Vincent.
Yes, I met Garifuna who have said that they learn about St. Vincent as the motherland to their ancestors. However, it would be important to note that St. Vincent`s only national hero is a Garifuna.
quisiera saber en que parte de Mi bella Honduras estan estos muchachos xq ire de vacaciones en abril y quisiera contratarlos para un show, si alguien sabe por favor les agradeceria me dieran alguna informacion.

@puntapanyababy what an idiot comment you made. First off, it's got all to do with Honduras, second, the garifuna are not 100% african, they're a mixture of african and carib .
